We decided to stop over here before heading to Edinburgh Airport thereby breaking our traveling time up... Lovely family owned Inn , great staff and nice to be able to eat there as well...I highly recommend the steak pie 🥧! Bed ultra comfy, everything you need...tea making facilities and even biscuits! Shampoo, conditioner and bath gel supplied which is always much appreciated. Nice to find an ensuite room designed properly, not just for show! Very large mirror, with socket beside it , plus kettle plugged in and ready to go!😊 Very nice picturesque drive to the airport... Cheers for the chat Aaron, you're a huge asset to the place!👍

Warm welcome and shown to room which was comfortable and clean. Premises have recently been taken over and new owners have made a great job of downstairs restaurant, If they continue this through out the premises it will be lovely. A work in progress! Good shower and great towels, bed very comfortable. Food in restaurant was exceptional with very generous portions. Staff very friendly. Breakfast equally as good and they honoured our booking with previous owners by including breakfast ( this is now an additional charge but still well worth it).

Bar is a little impersonal and lacking in comfort. Bit of a misunderstanding on our return a few nights later when we were told it now operated as an Air B&B on Mon and Tues and were handed keys on our way in. We had expected to be able to eat there again after another long day travelling however Alex recommended an Indian just over the bridge which turned out to be a great find. Was a bit surprised to find that, although obviously clean, the bed sheets and pillow cases were not ironed and a mass of creases which didn’t give a good impression.

Good location at side of road with parking. Staff are young and friendly offering to help with our luggage. Bedroom was big, bed comfortable and bathroom modernised. Tea and coffee facilities in bedroom. We had dinner here and it was fabulous. I had chicken tarragon which was v tasty. Breakfast was great with good coffee and big portions. Toasted bloomer bread was beautiful. The place has recently been taken over and they have done a good job in trying to give it a more modern feel. Church across road rang bells every so often.

Dressing gowns in bedroom seem a bit strange when there's no spa. When we went to check out, we were told we owed for breakfast even though our booking had included breakfast. As they had accepted the bookings already made before they took over, I think there was a bit of confusion but it got accepted in the end. Parts of the public areas are still old and need refurbished. I hope they keep the original features if modernising.

Everything. On arrival we received a very warm welcome. Unwound in the bar after a long drive. We were delighted with our bedroom. Room 4. The room was very spacious as was the bathroom. Everything was very clean. The bed was very comfortable. We had made a reservation for the restaurant that evening. The food was excellent, as was the breakfast the following morning. Parking was not an issue. Plenty of space out front and at the side of the building. We would thoroughly recommend The Old Cross Inn.

Lovely hotel that exceeded our expectations! We were just passing through for a night, though we'll definitely visit again! The extra large bed was a beautiful unexpected addition (particularly for my very tall hubby), and the very well stocked coffee/tea/biscuit bar was lovely - particularly enjoyed the mini fridge with milk and water! Everything was carefully thought about - dressing gowns in clothes protectors, hairdryers, cotton buds, tissues, etc. The room was lovely and toasty - and absolutely loved the mirror radiator! Room was well soundproofed despite overlooking the road. Kelly was so friendly, as were the other staff members who looked after us in the lounge bar with its inviting fireplace. Thank you!

Quiet area just on the outskirts of the town but 15 minute stroll into the town. Staff very friendly and very attentive. Food at the restaurant tapas menu was delicious and good value for money.Bar area busy and friendly with pool table darts and large tv.Lovely cooked breakfast .Bedrooms spacious and very cosy with the heated mirror radiator and bed very comfortable.

Nothing really not to like but no wardrobe but there was a hanging rail to compensate bit small for 2 peoples clothing.

Proper little country inn, staff were great, when we asked at the ar on our way to bed, for some water, they gave us a big jug full with ice , and in the room there was not only tea and coffee, but a little fridge with proper milk. The only reason I have not given this 10 points was the decoration is very dark and not very welcoming, but apart from that it was great, thank you!

Breakfast was fab. Only thing was no one explained to us that we could have had toast, marmalade, cereal etc. only realised this when we heard another customer ask for it. However what we chose from breakfast menu was lovely

Would have been handy to have a couple of wee hooks on bathroom door. Apart from that everything was good!

The hotel has been under new management for a couple of weeks now. They had completely renovated the hotel themselves and it is to a very hight standard. Staff were always happy to help and nothing was too much for them. The breakfast was amazing and great value for money. There was also free parking at the hotel which is why we picked this hotel.

Good honest family run small hotel that serves excellent food. Comfortable spacious room and nice shower room that was clean. The bar was a friendly place to sit with the locals and tourists serving good selection of drinks and coffee. Nice restaurant to sit and have a meal or sit in the bar area. Prices were very reasonable during difficult times and served nice wines. The menu was excellent and changed daily. Staff were helpful and friendly . Was on a walking couple of days and would definitely go back

Couldn't find really anything negative to say for the price that we paid for our stay as I thought it was good value for money
