This was a 'last minute' booking. Detailed instructions via email made access to the premises & our room seamless. The room was perfect for our needs. The ensuite was adequate for us, and clean. The location was less than 10 minutes (by car) from where we wanted to go. The room was discreetly decorated and seemed peaceful. Windows were set quite high, gave plenty of light, were easy to open (we were warm), & enabled us to feel very private. The curtains were thick enough to make the room dim enough to sleep. My bed was the 1st holiday bed in many years I found comfortable, including hotels & self-catering. In short, it was ideal

Our room was comfortable and clean but not very warm until we put the heating on. Absence of breakfast was a bonus as we could sleep in a little longer and get up in a relaxed fashion. Staff (owners) were very welcoming and helpful. Located near the city centre, railway station and buses up Shirley Road and High Street, we found several coffee shops and cafes where we could fill our bellies. Off-street car-parking was also valuable.

We found the stairs to our room a bit steep and there is no lift, so there may be a problem for people of limited mobility (mind you I have a new hip and new knee and climbed up and down without difficulty).

Really good location and excellent hosts. Came out to help with parking. Was very friendly. Bed and room were very comfortable. Would highly recommend.

Parking a little challenging to find at first. The entrance to the back of the hotel car park is right by the side of the hotel. I spotted the sign after I realised where it was! The owner has done a great job putting a sign up. I just couldn't see it when initially driving past. There are a good number of spaces located there.

Unsure why room information says breakfast from 7am yet told on arrival nothing before 8 am Got a coffee and toastie from local Starbucks!! Would suggest that carpet in bathroom seems a bit unusual, as is the lack of an extractor fan The lightbulbs also seemed a little diim, perhaps they are due replacement, and the dust on the visible bulbs let's the overall feel of the room down.

Very convenient, clean ground floor room as we had large suitcases for a long cruise. Very good shared bar/living room area for guest use. Staff extremely helpful. Really good continental breakfast (£8.50 extra pp) included fruit juice, hot drinks, cereal, fresh fruits, yoghurts, croissants, pain au chocolat, toast, jams, marmalade etc as well as good quality sliced ham and cheese. Location very convenient for both town centre and cruise terminal. Free parking.

Jihea is the BEST, she does everything possible to make your stay enjoyable. I highly recommend Hunters Lodge for it's value, cleanliness, comfort, location, and hospitality. It is definitely one of the best lodges to stay in, with great comfortable beds. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. I give it a 10 star rating 👍...

I liked the warm friendly greeting, I received from Jihea on my late night arrival, making my long journey a pleasant welcome!

Unfortunately I didn't get the breakfast as the owners were away on holiday- I booked the accommodation in the belief that I was getting a breakfast but I found the house relaxed and certainly wouldn't want to complain-they can make it up to me the next time I visit

I just needed a clean and comfortable room in close proximity to the town centre No complaints -everything i needed 😌

Comfortable bed, cleaniness. Didn't have breakfast but tea making facilities in room.

The only thing what could have been better, would have been grab rails in the shower cubicle. I am in my eighties & I would have felt safer if there had been grab rails to hold onto for example getting in & out of the shower in case I slipped.

The property is clean and quiet and easy to access. Parking is a big bonus, and it is close to Southampton Central if you ned that and the city centre.

The only thing was the pillows were too soft. This may be a personal thing but I would prefer to have a choice of very soft pillows and perhaps a medium support pillow, which would be a decent compromise between too hard or too soft.

Very helpful hosts as a lone traveller with a husband in Southampton hospital, needed a nice place to stay close by, just the job, on bus route and good taxi service. They were very helpful didn't do breakfast as had to be at hospital at certain time.coildnt really fault anything the car park was good for parking and safe.although we didn't have a car.

Nothing really to add here
