I have stayed here before and I will stay again. The public rooms are superb and the reception desk are really good, very good at making you feel at ease. The appartment we have had, on both stays was huge and it may have been because we were not there on a weekend, but we heard no noise from any functions. The price was fantastic, especially if, like me, you arrive by private car as the parking is plentiful and free. It has a lovely look on the aproach as well, very imposing. Being a local lad I remember this building inearlier years, and this is definately the best use of it.

The private rooms are a bit tired, but that being said they are clean and very comfortable and honestly would not deter me from coming back in any way.

We had a great stay at the The Orange Grove Hotel. The exterior and downstairs lobby, bar and restaurant has clearly been renovated to a high standard, it looks really beautiful when you arrive. The staff were all very welcoming and friendly, they accommodated an early check in and the posting of a left behind item, which was very helpful and appreciated.

The room itself was comfortable but probably not on par in terms of appearance to the rest of the hotel, a few updates to the furnishings and decor could really elevate it. Having said that, the price of the room was great value for the area and so this probably reflected that.

Directions. Road is permanently blocked halfway down. It is possible for hotel to contact google to get the SATNAV to recognise this. Very frustrating as you then have to go back, turn right across an exceptionally busy main road to enter from the other side. Mirror missing in bedroom. Had to talk to housekeeping to get a temporary replacement. Should have been done before arrival. Bath/Shower is extremely slippery when showering or exiting the bath. No anti slip shower mat or fixed hand grab. DANGEROUS.

The surroundings are very tranquil. The property itself was very nice with a commanding entrance to the car park. The staff on the front desk are always brilliant and very freindly. Restaurant is fantastic and the rooms are huge. The cost is less than a city hotel simple room so it is a no brainer when I am back in Southampton to stay here and drive the 5 miles into Southampton center. The bar and salon are really a nice place to sit with my customers and relax while talking about business.

For the price, I really can't fault it. It must be one of the best value places in Southampton at least.

Staff at the hotel were very helpful and friendly. The room was a very good size and facilities like tea & coffee were very good. We had a fridge, microwave and all crockery and cuttlery we needed. Overall I'd say a nice hotel to stay in.

The room is, as described, a "basement" room. There were windows (which needed cleaning) but not a view. There was a slight humming noise all the time, presumably from plant somewhere (there were a lot of pipes visible from the room window). We were asked to book a time for breakfast the next morning but when we gave the time, were told there was no space available. Don't know if this is becoming common but I've never been asked to specify an exact time to turn up for breakfast.

I liked how peaceful it was and the staff really went out of there way to do anything to help. The room was stunning and huge :-) Although I complain about the ladybirds in the room in what I didn't like. The receptionist was so helpful and understood and let us swap room to one with a bath as the first had a shower and we had come off a cruise where there was only a shower. It was a request she went out her way to forfill which was great and made me so happy to finally have a long soak. I would come back again for sure.

I didnt like the fact the was ladybirds in the living room about 5/6 and the table in the first room where they put us just looked completly out of place and unloved If Im being honest. It looked like an old dining room table from school and looked somewhat worse for ware. The other thing I was not keen on was the bathroom door hit the sink when opening and the toilet lid decided it was going to put itself down whenever it wanted. Not a massive complaint but the room we stayed in could do with a revamp just on the wood around the windows as they looked flakey and tatty which I did not expect from the exterior of the building. The other thing is the location although it said 10mins car drive on google maps from the cruise terminal it was actually a 30min drive by taxi which cost £35.

I'd stayed in 1 one bedroom apartment at the hotel before, so knew that it was great. I'd booked a studio room this time, but the room I was given was relatively dark and smaller than I was expecting from the photos of various rooms shown on here. I asked at reception, and they moved me to a one bedroom apartment that was even bigger and brighter than the one I stayed in before, at no extra cost. It was the room directly over the restaurant, looking over the gardens.

Original room was darker/smaller than desired. Also, every time the kitchen staff went through the outside kitchen door it slammed shut loudly. They could probably fix with some padding.

Loved the fact that when they said it was dog friendly, it really really was. We were in the basement room, which had 2 huge windows & the room was massive Staff were very friendly & helpful. The room was exceptionally large. Parking easy.

Bathroom was lovely, but I felt very unsafe in the shower over the bath. The bath was very narrow & I felt the 2 small circular (10cm diameter approx) were inadequate & placed far to near the plug hole. I'm mobile but felt a grab rail would have made it much safer to step out of a wet & slippery bath.

The staff, particularly the lady on reception, was exceptionally welcoming and really helpful. It was good value, although the dog charge was the highest we've been charged anywhere (£30). The parking was easy and the grounds were lovely. Good breakfast choices, nicely cooked, and once again, the staff were great.

The room, although spacious, had some interesting renovation. Carried out to a budget but made up for by clean fresh, although budget furnishings. It was still good value and comfortable with thoughtful touches in the decor.

Gorgeous building set in beautiful grounds in a quiet location. Nice and welcoming inside although no lift to our room and 3 flights was difficult with luggage. Room (1 bed apt) was huge and bed very comfortable. Big bathroom with bath and shower. Kitchen area for anyone who wanted to self cater although we went out for dinner. Staff were very helpful. Breakfast was lovely as was the bar.

Lots of stairs to our room which was hard with bags. The room looked worn and dated. Couldn’t turn the shower off myself, had to ask husband who struggled.
