I has a dance workshop at Hartington center and this was the only available place close by. I wasn't sure about it at first, however I must say it was one of my best stays in the UK, amazingly friendly staff, good food for fair price and they listen to all your requests w.r.t. the food, I had both breakfast and dinners there. Very quiet rooms despite the fact that the building looks quite old. On the first day, I couldn't find a cab to take me to Hartington and the staff was so lovely that they gave me a lift. Thank you so much for a lovely stay.

The connection is poor in the rooms, however I didn't mind, as I wanted to chill and rest anyways. You can always sit in the bar or the garden if you need high speed internet.

Great pub with excellent food and friendly staff. Clean bedroom with lovely views.

Sound insulation isn’t great so you can hear the guests in the next room and the floorboards are very squeaky as it’s an old building so this is unavoidable. What could be improved is that the beds are ridiculously squeaky so I had to try not to move around in my sleep so I didn’t get woken up by the bed. Unfortunately, on my last night, the person in the next room was apparently having trouble sleeping at 4am so their bed squeaking every time they moved, kept me awake too.

Professional and kind staff. Building surrounded by plenty of fresh nature. Comfortable interior garden. Good restaurant with flavorful food. Location: by car, less than ten minutes away from the town. Taxi is an option, by bus? Any option! There is a church by walking five minutes. Public mini - library, you can take books and leave one pound for each one.

In advance, I asked if any option to reach the place by bus however, I didn't get reply about. It is a rude gesture. Its reply should be o could be: "there is not...".

We loved Steve's warm welcome, and his care for the people staying and also dining. They obviously run a tight ship. The restaurant under the rooms is popular and well managed. The food is great, and arrives fairly promptly. Dogs are welcome and all the staff seem to care. The room we stayed in was clean, had a nice bed, and is spacious - there was room to do our physio in the morning. Water pressure in the showers was good, and there were decent sized cups available for teas and coffees. The sound of the steam railway is a bonus :) - For dinner in the restaurant, pay attention to the offers, they have something different every night - on our night they were doing 2 lots of fish and chips for £25, so it's worth checking what's on.

We can't think of anything that was amiss for this stay. It really was a very lovely experience. The only thing that might qualify for comment would be to add the sign that there's a step down to the bathroom in room 2 could be lower on the door - we both missed it first time and stubbed toes happened!

I liked the decor of the bathroom, and the staff was very polite, especially Brandon the general manager, he was excellent and went above and beyond to make stay enjoyable. Very nice scenery from bedroom and two doors opened to a balcony. Dinner in the evening, served by Brandon was very nice and Breakfast in the morning was tasty served by Victoria. Good WiFi speed so I could do my Microsoft team digital calls for work

On the breakfast menu, the Sea Trout do not serve avocado, just pre made guacamole, they also do not serve any blueberries at breakfast time. Carpets were dated, but everything else was modern

Situated in the small town of Staverton, this was a beautiful little inn that captured the towns beauty. The staff were friendly and the place is dog friendly! There’s also a large car park you can park in for free.

Out in the little town there’s not much phone reception so you have to connect to the wifi, but the wifi in our room wasn’t very strong. It was also quite loud throughout the inn, we could hear most doors open and shut as they echoed through the rooms.

Warm welcome from the host, nicely furnished spacious room with a bath, comfortable beds, good food, plenty of parking. Lovely walk past the church and along the river.

Shower ran off bath taps and was difficult to control. Walls between rooms quite thin and some noise from other rooms. Breakfast was a la carte rather than buffet style.

We received a very warm welcome including one for a late addition, our dog, that stayed with us in the room. The location is great, lovely and quiet with dog walks from the door. The food was fantastic, not just heated through bought in stuff. I wished I'd chosen a pie as my cousin's looked beautiful, rustic and home made. Staff were helpful and friendly.

Lovely old pub! Surprised at how lovely the room was for the price we paid. Would love to have eaten here, but we were meeting friends at Riverford Organic Cafe(very close by) for a birthday celebration. A big thank you to Matt who checked us in, He tried to get us a taxi to the restaurant, but they are pretty scarce, so we drove there and he kindly offered to take us back the next morning to collect our car if we were able to get a lift back!

Noisy at night. We could hear the bathroom light switch and tap going on in the room next door. All the floorboards and doors are so squeaky, you could hear people walking along the corridor. It is a very old building, and this hasn’t put us off, we would definitely stay here again, but we’ll ask for a room at the far end of the corridor!

Staff were very friendly, welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. Food was incredible, we all throughly enjoyed our evening meals and breakfast. If we were around Tontes area again visiting I would look at booking to stay..

My only 2 faults would be: Ensuite cleanliness in family room Maybe leave the pull out single bed on the floor instead of putting the legs on, it was swaying so much I didn't want to risk any of us sleeping on it. These are minor things, which wouldn't stop me from visiting again.
