This place is an absolute gem! We were a group of 7 people and 3 dogs who had some bad luck with a non dog friendly air bnb, and after some stress, we last minute found the Cott Inn on booking.com and saw they had some rooms available and accepted pets. Booked us all in for the night across 4 rooms, furry friends and all. We had the warmest welcome which was such a relief after the Airbnb situation, everyone was absolutely lovely and made us (and the dogs) feel at home. Rooms were perfect and cosy, with ridiculously comfortable beds. Dinner was amazing, so delicious and a great menu offering. The staff even made me a lovely surprise birthday cocktail! We wished we’d never even bothered with the Airbnb and now we know the perfect pub/inn to stay at in the future! Thank you so much Cott team, you’re the absolute best and we’ll definitely be back!

We have had a fantastic stay at the Cott Inn! As soon as we arrived, the staff were so welcoming and attentive. The Sunday roast was exceptional and the atmosphere was warm and incredibly friendly. Our room was beautifully decorated and clean too. Just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, the next morning we had the cooked full English/cooked breakfast in the gorgeous dining room. We would 100% recommend staying here.
Naturally during the pub hours you can hear noise from your room however during the night it was silent and could sleep really well. That would be my one point other than that it’s been brilliant.

This is a very characterful old inn which is busy & obviously a very popular destination for both locals & visitors which is an indicator to the quality of the food. Our bedroom was large, with a very big, comfortable bed. The bed linen & towels were spotlessly clean. It was also very quiet overnight so we were able to get a good nights sleep. The breakfast was excellent & the evening meals were good quality & the staff all very friendly & helpful.
The access stairs & corridor to our room need refurbishment. They do not give a good initial impression, which is a shame as the room itself is good & comfortable. This is a busy pub so, in the evening, the car park is constantly full. We had to park a distance away each evening & then move the car back to the inn when diners had left. We stayed during the high season so this may not be an issue in quieter times

The room was very comfortable and I liked the provision of bottled water, a good selection of teas and biscuits was a nice touch. The shower was really good plenty of water pressure and a bath in the room is always welcome. Too many places only have showers these days which I don’t like. The lady who served in the restaurant and served us breakfast on the first morning called Poppy was excellent, super friendly great fun and full of good recommendations of where to go.
The full English breakfast on the second morning of our stay was not as good as the first morning. The sausages were undercooked and did not look appetising being very pale in colour and the black pudding was greasy. We noticed the shaver point above the sink did not work.

The main asset of The Cott Inn is its staff, Anton and Poppy in particular but everyone whom we met went above an beyond to make our stay a very pleasant one. Breakfast and dinner both days were fab. Met the owner and his wife this morning and their enthusiasm shone through for their business and their employees. Lovely people committed to what they do and it shows.
It's a very old thatched building so quite steep narrow stairways but you have to expect this in old properties. The room was spacious but the bathroom quite cramped but once again it is a very old building.

Lovely welcome, & all by staff encountered. Poppy delightful, Anton friendly & helpful. Breakfast - all locally sourced ingredients as far as possible I understand. Any combination of any item on menu available. Quirky bedrooms, great for a few days, very clean, fluffy towels - but not a bath sheet. Very comfortable bed. Nice selection of teas, coffees, biscuits in room. Small bottles of water, small shampoo etc left daily if used. Both nights we ate at The Cott - delicious.
Nothing at all.

Location, atmosphere, staff were all amazing. Staff were amazingly accommodating and pleasant. The moment we arrived we were greeted straightaway and it wasn't with a robotic greeting like you would get with a chain hotel etc, it was with a smile and pride that you had arrived, as if every person there owned the building and wanted you to relax and enjoy your time. The food was amazing! Whether you stay here or close by, at least visit for the food and the atmosphere. I would happily stay again if I am ever working close by for the food alone, let alone the whole experience.

Stopped off on the way down to Cornwall for 1 night. Lovely staff, made to feel very welcome and could not have been more helpful with check in and assisting us with our baby. Room was clean and comfortable bed. Excellent meal in the evening and breakfast in the morning was also very good.
The pillows were quite flat - maybe could do with new ones as they were very thin. Our room was directly above the main entrance so it was quite loud until late at night - to be fair it is a popular pub so to be expected but we had asked for a quiet room and one at the other end of the corridor might have helped.

A charming friendly pub with beautifully appointed rooms - small but cosy with all facilities. Lovely bed linen. Fantastic food. Very friendly staff which made one feel so welcome. Live music was a bonus. Although I asked for parking a space wasn't kept and we were just lucky to get a space when a car left. Many were parked on the road. A very popular pub in a lovely location and close to south Devon beaches.
Nothing.
