Staff were amazing, Cam, James, Jay and Rachel were all lovely and accommodating, both in the day-to-day, but also when issues arose. All were friendly and personable, happy to serve and have a good chat with - a must when going on holiday! Both the sun and the sister restaurant Wasabi were fantastic, and 10% off due to the room was a lovely surprise. The room was clean and tidy, but fairly basic - perfect for us to use as a base for our trip around the Lake District.

The noise is the obvious thing as there are several late night venus in the area - however we were warned well in advance as the hotel sent several emails and even offered a full refund if you want to on this. We had issues with the shower, some were fixed within 5hrs of being brought to staff (fantastic!) - the pressure was not fantastic on the basis that this is a grade 2 listed building, so there's nothing you can do! The parking is OK, but can be a bit of a faff as this is in the center of the town - a thing I definitely should have done more research on! Car park round the corner for £1.50 for 24hrs which was a great backup.

Great pub in a great location. Bit outdated, but you get what you pay for. Clean beds, clean towels, and a hot shower. This is not a leisure hotel, but a good hotel to stop in if you're just looking for a place to sleep. Music loud, loud, loud - it is very appreciated that the hotel sent a message about it; we didn't mind as we've stayed in lots of music venue bars/above karaoke venues, but the noise was much louder than I ever expected. Maybe earplugs as standard room equipment would be a good choice to consider?

The rooms are bit outdated

Callum and Jay were very welcoming. We had our bags carried to the hotel room. Everything was explained to us. It was not too noisy as there was no acts booked in the evening. We would definitely consider returning.

They had all the condiments for toast in the morning. Butter, jams and marmalade but no toast was offered. We had to pay extra for the cappuccinos which we think should have been included in the price for breakfast. Other than that all very good.

Staff were awesome, nothing was too much trouble. Yes, as we read in other reviews, you could hear the music from downstairs and next door but it wasn't a problem for us as we were out late anyway. Food in the bar was good - they also do a fab sharing-platter Sunday roast 😋 On the main road through town so close to shops, restaurants and fab bars. Would definitely stay again.

There were lots of stairs to the top floor where our rooms were but that meant we were further from the noise so was worth it.

This Inn was spotless ,the room was basic economy and exceeded our expectations. They told us about street noise and there was some, but not bad at all. Grade 2 listed it had character ,the staff were friendly and helpful.We didn't eat there as we were out and about both days. We would return ,it was great value for money. Thanks to booking.com for showing it to us.. that area of Lakes is very beautiful too,with lots to fo and places to see. Overall a great holiday.

I'm a country bupkin and prefer to be out of town ,but that's my preference ,in no way reflects on the accommodation as it was described very well. My friend the city dweller found it perfect and quiet!

Super friendly and helpful staff. It felt like home. They helped with requests like storing luggage and bikes overnight cheerfully even when they were very busy. Callum and Jay were great. But everyone was kind and friendly.

Loud music audible on the first floor on Saturdays but we were fairly warned on this and the pricing was excellent value.

Room was really large, clean and well equipped. Nice to have a hotel shower that actually gets you wet as well… The food at The Sun is excellent and we’ll executed - we ate there every night of our stay. They were also very accommodating and understanding of our two dogs which is important to us. The team did warn us prior to our stay that as it is a busy local venue, the music Friday and Saturday nights goes on till about 2.30am but to be fair, if you’re staying in the centre of a bustling town then you have to base your expectations on that everybody else isn’t tucked in bed by 10.30. Our dogs slept through it all anyway!

The hotel was smack in the middle of town and could not be better located. For the price I could not complain.

Because of the event I was attending the car park was shut. I expect this would not normally be an issue. The hotel literature always mentioned they are a late night venue and there will be music played until late. On the Friday this was not an issue at all and on the Saturday only a slight issue.

We had a good stay. We stayed mid week and it was quiet and friendly. Budget room was clean and comfortable. The hotel make it clear that st weekends it will be noisy due to entertainment downstairs.

Double glazing for road noise would be good but presume it can’t be done as properly if old and probably listed.

Probably needs a bit of updating , I arrived in the middle of the ulverston festival , it was very busy bands playing in the street I was very tired after riding across North Yorkshire and just wanted to sleep but I enjoyed it immensely, the staff were very busy but accommodating, the food was good and when I did eventually get to my bed I enjoyed a very good night's sleep even tho the bar underneath me was in full flow

In the morning when I packed my tent and stuff on my bike the road was blocked with cars , there was a gap but it had broken glass there , but a very nice gentleman ( the gardner ) whipped out a dustpan and brush and swept away the offending glass all credit to him .....the staff should have done this as I didn't mention the blocked road and broken glass
