Nigel was so warm and welcoming, this place felt like a home-from-home. Accommodation is simple, but had everything I needed and was clean. Bed was comfortable, table and chair was nice to have, shower was good. The pub was fairly quiet, even on a Friday and Saturday night, so I wasnt disturbed by lots of noise. Very grateful for the hospitality after lots of travelling. I would definitely stay here again if in the area. Thank you!

I had advised in advance that I needed gluten free diet and they provided a magnificent spread at breakfast - far too much for one person!

Filling the kettle called for a bit ingenuity! We had to use the mugs from the room to fill kettle as there was no way the kettle would go it under the tap. It gave us a giggle though! Duvets in hotels are always too heavy for me and we were there on a very hot day.

Nice stay, arrived at 17:20 rang the bell at the side where it states b&b but no answer, so had to go into the bar area to ask staff, friendly lady approached us and brought us through the bar to see the room. We were satisfied with the room but was disappointed with her information as she stated that breakfast was from 08:00 til 11:00, this was totally wrong and breakfast finished at 10:00, we arrived at breakfast at 09:50 and was told were cutting it fine, I explained what the lady said last night but there was no attempt to fulfill are means with a cooked breakfast so had to have just toast or crumpets, The man who part owns the establishment Nigel was very friendly and approachable and did give another guest money to go to the cafe who had been given the same information about the breakfast time. All in All it was satisfactual and would stay again.

I asked to stay for an extra night which was easily arranged. After arriving out of check in times and telephoning a displayed contact number, someone came to let me into the premises and check me in. Very friendly staff in all departments. An extra blanket was made available when I mentioned I was cold in the room. A large room with good facilities.

Unfortunately there was no cooked food available apart from (very tasty) pizzas. I am not a regular pizza eater. Being a solo business traveller without personal transport, I had no inclination to walk 15 mins (for me) back into the town in order to find a restaurant so had to buy (cold) food while I was out during the day to eat in my room later.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at The Rifle Volunteer, the staff were so friendly and made me feel very welcome. The accommodation was absolutely fantastic, lovely room and excellent facilities, a cosy bed made sleeping a dream. The location of The Rifle Volunteer is very close to Ware train station, the local amenities, high street, shops and restaurants. Breakfast really was amazing, so much to choose from and very plentiful to start your day off. Nigel was so amazing and very helpful, a lovely man who really went beyond the call of duty to assist me during my stay, and also dropped me off at the local school where I was working for the day. The Rifle Volunteer is one of the best places I have stayed, if you are looking for a stay in the historic Town of Ware, make sure you stay at The Rifle Volunteer.

Very comfy bed, very good breakfast with many choices, including little extras like oat milk and excellent quality yoghurts, for example. Excellent location for our needs, and in itself for the local area. Lovely landlord and all staff we met were very accommodating. The actual pub, bar and outside area looked very inviting, though unfortunately we were not able to take advantage of this.

There was nothing we did not like. As a personal preference would have liked real butter and maybe some honey at breakfast!

The hospitality is unrivalled - the warmest welcome from the host as we parked up. Came straight over, introduced himself & made us feel right at home. It was lovely to have a little chat rather than just be handed the keys. Gave us great advice on taxis and about the venue where we were due to be attending a wedding. The room was cosy, cute & clean - has a very homely feel to it. The bed was comfy too. Perfect for a couple of group of mates looking for somewhere affordable to stay within a beautiful location. Great bar just below too, yet still a quiet & peaceful stay. Even when we were leaving, as it was a really hot day, the host came out to us with bottles of water as we were packing the car & asked if we needed any help or anything. Amazing host! Will definitely be staying again & recommending!

Stayed in the single room, comfy bed, clean, had everything I needed. I think the lady’s name that checked me in was Sarah, she could not have been more helpful & approachable. I’ll absolutely stay here again when I’m working nearby. There is a car park as well, which is really useful, as parking seems to be difficult in Ware!

Super friendly staff. Very comfortable bed. Nice to have tea and coffee facilities in the room. Not too far to walk into the main shops in Ware.

There could have been toiletries in the shower (shampoo, shower gel etc). It's a shame that there weren't any pizzas available as we were looking forward to pizzas.

Nicely refurbished room with good sized and comfortable bed; high standard of furnishings . Light, bright and roomy. Good en-suite with shower and toiletries, very clean. Pub downstairs being well used but not noisy, friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast advertised as a continental. What a revelation..... So much choice:meats, cheeses, cereal,fruit,yoghurts, bread, croissant, crumpets, jams, marmalade, juices, teas and coffees as well as poached eggs and baked beans - I've probably missed something but as good as I've been offered in international brands.

Car parking is a bit of a pain but if the pub car park is full, you can find something within a very short walk.
