Big Sur Lodge was a wonderful experience. The cottages are nestled inside the park, separate from the reception area, which adds to the charm and tranquility. We arrived late, but the staff had thoughtfully left clear instructions to find our cottage — a much-appreciated gesture. The cottage itself was spacious and cozy, with two rooms and comfortable beds. The peaceful surroundings and nearby trails made it a perfect nature getaway.

The only downside was the breakfast in the restaurant— the spread could definitely be improved. Still, overall, we truly enjoyed our stay and would love to return."

The staff was wonderful and welcoming. We didn't know much about the area and booked because we knew it was a great place to stay. We were very excited to sleep in a "cabin hotel room" in the Redwoods and were in awe of the property and loved how we had access to the surrounding areas in our hotel stay even if we only used it for a "minute."

The gas heater in the room was wonderful and warm but kept firing all night and we didn't sleep very well even though everything else was so peaceful around us. The restaurant could have been better staffed. Our server had never waited on a table before. We are industry ourselves and everyone has to start somewhere. We had to teach him how to do a wine presentation for a bottle because he had no clue if he even had the right bottle. Then my scallops were way over cooked and I ate them because I was hungry and they worked with the bacon but it fell on flat ears with no hospitality experience.

The lodge was a little rustic but it was easy to access from the main road, and had a beautiful back porch that backed up to the trees. It was nice having a restaurant on site and a small convenience store. There were plenty of towels and a mini fridge which was nice. There was no wifi except for in their community room. I didn't realize the lack of internet access, so had I known, I would have brought more board games. Completely understand the lack of internet as we were surrounded by trees and forest, but there literally was no connectivity along the road unless you had AT&T (apparantely), which we did not.

The heating in the room was VERY noisy. When it would turn off, it would clank very loudly and wake you up in the middle of the night. This is truly my only complaint.

Location and Accessibility to attractions. Great food and service at the restaurant. Love the format and amenity of the room and it is clean. Has extra blankets, pillows and towels.

It was cold, the heater is not heating much we had to add additional comforter to sleep during the night but very cold when not under the covers. We have designated parking but another guest took our parking spot, receptionist was informed but nothing was done the cars still didnt move their cars we checked out they are still on our parking space, good thing they just allowed us to park at the free empty spot beside our lodge.

The bed was comfortable, and the heater was effective. We ended up using the extra blankets, though, just to stay extra warm. While there is no Wi-Fi in the cabins, there's a community center if you need it. My partner and I spent what time we did in the cabin playing games provided in the room or sleeping after hikes. It's also the perfect location to start many hikes with clear signs and trail markers.

There seemed to be moderate water damage on the bottom of the wall between the shower and sink. There were also major cracks between the shower and surrounding walls/floor.

Location is amazing. It is a beautiful facility in the middle of the forest. Many hikes that start from the lodge. The staff was so friendly and fun. The food at the restaurant was very good with good value on the money and our waiter was very friendly and helpful. They have also a café with an awesome bakery in house. The commune area is so cute with WIFI, ping pong table, piano and just relaxation area for cold nights.

The room was a bit outdated and had a strong smell of fire from the firepit. Although the pool is only opened in the summer, it could have been amazing to have hot tub for the cold nights.

Housekeeping people were nice and got us fresh towels, more coffee pods when we asked. Loved the fireplace and firewood in the cabin. Loved the cabin we stayed in and the grounds. Liked the Lodge as well...sitting by the fireplace. Some really nice staff for the most part.

Staff in general was nice. Except for one morning, my companion went to get coffee. The Lodge was locked and the girl up front (Victoria) walked away when he tried to open the door. Was told later that it was her first time opening and she didn't know how to open but instead of telling him that, she hid. Other staff members walked by him instead of saying tyo try the side door. When he went to get a latte (which was lukewarm that morning but usually good other times), he was told they were open from half an hour. And he said, "you all saw me there, why didn't you let me in/tell me there was a side door." No answer. This is not how hospitality staff should treat guests who paid $300 a night for a cabin. That morning/exerience was disappointing for sure.

Great location

Kind of funky accommodations but clean . The front desk staff was fantastic! The gift shop people were super unfriendly as were some of the people in the breakfast café. Food was good but a little pricey. The hikes were good, but there was poison milk everywhere. I’m very allergic so was a bit concerned but so far I haven’t gotten any reaction.

Great location, appreciated that it was dog friendly. Accommodations were clean. Staff was helpful when asked for recommendations.

Wifi was very limited, but we expected that (had 1-2 bars of data signal, though spotty at times). Also, the walls were thin so we could hear the very loud music playing from the room adjacent to ours (though at least they respected the 10pm noise ordinance).

Prime location!!

At first that it had no TV... But to be honest even if it did I don't think there would have been enough time to watch anything as we were so busy doing the hikes and visiting the natural state parks that were around.. I get it😁!! No TV is part of the fun!! We actually enjoyed each other's company to the fullest without media or tV to interrupt ♥️
