The staff at the Quail is excellent, they are always friendly and help however they can. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. The room was huge with a lovely view, which they accommodated per my request. When I checked in they had left a thoughtful note for me along with some chocolates. I liked the complimentary canned water in the room as well as the plush slippers. The lobby area is welcoming and cozy with big fireplaces, a game room and complimentary tea, coffee, and hot chocolate.

The room was large and wonderfully located, but it was a bit shabby and could use new paint, tile, fixtures, etc. Getting luggage to the 2nd floor was challenging as there was no elevator or bellman (the cheerful front desk associate did help me bring my things up the stairs). Also the fitness facilities were a bit sparse and the layout was strange with the three little bungalows.

Nicely refreshed decor in rooms and public spaces, beautifully kept grounds and gardens. Highly recommend.

Word of caution and only reason I did not rate our stay higher …. WiFi and Internet speeds are abysmally slow and unacceptable in our room and other public areas … less than 2Mbps download speeds and high latency … can’t maintain Zoom connection for business calls. While a small issue for many, this is a deal breaker for our next visit until they modernize internet connectivity … it was like stepping back to AOL dial-up service and we unsuccessfully had to try other areas of property given terrible connection speed in room. Easy fix, they just need to upgrade their equipment/service but will they?

Great location away from business and residential sections of Carmel yet within 4 miles. Well maintained and modern facilities. Located on and integrated with a beautiful golf course. Nine hole complementary putting greens for entertaining activity. Large clean pool with cardio, weight and stretch rooms. On-site bar and small dining facility with patio seating.

Some employees were not knowledgeable of facility offerings and needed help answering simple questions. However, this was not a game changer at all, just newer employees learning the ropes.

Lovely peaceful setting in Carmel Valley. It is only five miles from Carmel by the Sea. We felt like we were on a private retreat but still close to the beach, sight seeing, and shopping. Great location ! We really enjoyed the amenities. We rode the electric bikes to a beautiful trail near by, worked out in the gym, and played on the beautifully maintained putting green. The pool looked very nice but it was too cold. We highly recommend the Junior Suite with a balcony and fire place overlooking the lagoon. Our dog enjoyed the doggie bed, blanket, and food dishes that were provided. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. All the housekeepers and grounds keepers for the golf course were very friendly and helpful. Most of the hotel staff were very nice especially Hannah who was very cheerful and kind.

We only had one unpleasant staff at check in. This took us by surprise since all the reviews listed how great the staff is. Maybe she had a bad day but it was not comfortable for us

The room was very large (with two double beds) although we only used one and there were recycling bins in the room too (we are keen to recycle). There was a nice view over the putting green and the car park was close to the room. The hotel was a short drive away from Carmel which is lovely. The breakfast was very good and the swimming pool was a nice temperature and size.

There was nothing that we didn't like however, it would have been nice to be slightly closer to Carmel although it was not too far away (about 4 miles).

Absolutely loved our stay the the Quail lodge! We stayed with two kids (6 & 8 year old boys) during the Thanksgiving break and every time we were out and about the kids kept asking if we could please go back to the lodge. We truly appreciated that all the activities were included (and not charge ridiculous resort fees) ; mini golf on real grass with a reputable size and challenging, pickleball, pool (heated), gym, fireplaces, s’mores and the parents loved to happy hour at 3pm. I would absolutely stay again and the kids will be talking about this place for a long time coming.

My only comment would be that the restaurant is not open every night and on a Monday night we had to eat in the bar area with a small-ish menu. But there was a full kids menu which was great and still some different options for us. The next night we went to the Mexican restaurant across the street and that was surprisingly good.

Didn’t take breakfast because the experience at Dinner the night before was poor. The restaurant was extremely cold and when we asked to be moved, this could not be accommodated - in an empty room! Our impression was that the staff wanted to go to the extent that a door was left ajar to keep the area cold! We did not consider eating there for breakfast as a result. Food was good so this is a shame. This extended to the bar after our meal. We sat down at 8pm. Facilities and staff all good apart from this experience. The person on reception was lovely and worth special mention.

It’s just beautiful. Fantastic setting. Fantastic golf course. Lovely pool and gym facilities. Just perfect. Staff were all outstanding.

Sadly the restaurant facilities weren’t good for us. The restaurant wasn’t open at all on one night which meant we had to use golf club restaurant where we had already had lunch and the menu was limited. The following night the restaurant was open for shorter hours with only one or two hot items to order one of which was a burger which, although lovely, wasn’t what we wanted and we felt rushed to leave by 9pm. Whilst I know Sunday and Monday may be quiet days - travellers still want to relax and enjoy a lovely meal and wine and it was sad we couldn’t do this at the hotel on either of the two nights we stayed with you.

Peaceful! We weren’t there long enough to fully enjoy all of it, but it was so relaxing and beautiful. I loved how we had our own little patio. If it was warmer, we would have used it a lot. Loved the food delivery to your room.

Our room was clean, but there was some crusted yogurt on the lamp stand on the desk that was gross. The restaurant, Edgers, was horrible! I ordered for pickup a chicken garden salad. I got a mixed greens with goat cheese and no chicken. They also didn’t give us any napkins or utensils so I had to eat mine w a spoon.

We've stayed at The Quail Lodge many times, so obviously there's a lot to like. Highlights include the overall atmosphere of carefully curated calm and peacefulness. The architecture and landscaping help to connect the hotel buildings to the subtle beauty of the valley. The swimming pool kept at a comfortable temperature also creates an opportunity for a true resort experience, even in the winter.

Nothing. I'm happy to hear that planning is underway for a new spa with hot tub.
