the room was very comfortable. the bathroom was very spacious.

the view from the window was a wall.....we asked in advance for a nice view and would have appreciated a nicer view

We booked two nights to visit Monterey & Carmel. The photos don't do this place justice - First it looked like a small B&B and then like a motel - which it is neither - it's a great, friendly and comfortable hotel with large comfortable rooms and nice bathrooms. The breakfast is great, they have relatively cheap parking and the location is great - a few minutes walk to Cannery Row, Monterey Bay Aquarium, restaurants (we'd recommend Hulas Island Grill), and a 15 minute drive to Carmel & 17 mile drive. Would absolutely recommend this place - such great value.

Property is nice, clean, and in a great location. Location made it walkable to Cannery Row and Monterey b\Bay Aquarium. Room was nice, area and design made it felt private. Parking was easy and accessible. Breakfast was a step above basic, and the wine and cheese hour was a nice snack.

Paid for the upgraded room on the higher floor, view, and fire place. The room was beautiful but the View was not worth it, faced a dilapidated abandoned building. Was facing the street and the windows were paper thin, can basically hear people walking by on the sidewalk. The room was cold, attempted multiple times to set the thermostat to 70 degrees Fahrenheit, but the tiny heater could not keep up with the cold. Yes I did set it correctly by pressing "hold" and setting it to the correct degrees. The Fireplace is for show, it was nice to have but did nothing to heat up the space.

The entire hotel is so beautiful. The room is adequately sized with a very comfortable bed and chairs. The fireplace is the best feature in the room. It truly add ambiance to the experience. The immenties in the room were very nice. Breakfast is amazing. Quite a feast both mornings. The wine and cheese in the afternoons is a perfect way to wind down from the daily adventures and prepare for dinner. All employees we came in contact with were extremely friendly, helpful and always ready to answer any questions or help. It is situated in a great location that allows for walking to sights and hiking trails. And there is any type of restaurant you could want within a short walk from the hotel. Easy to use parking area which is covered and so welcome.

Everyone was so very nice and helpful, stellar staff all around. The afternoon cheese and wine was fun (and Victor was incredibly charming), and the breakfast was lovely. There were plenty of items to choose from, and the coffee was excellent. Even the in-room coffee was great. The room (king) was huge, and I loved the fireplace. The bed was comfortable, and my friend's room had tables and a window seat where we could gather in the evenings. It was easy to walk down to Cannery Row and up to Lighthouse Avenue (Gianni's on Lighthouse is a great pizza place, and there's also a CVS), and we felt safe in the area.

When I originally booked on January 31, the total cost was $1,430.31. Sadly, there was a death in my friend's family, and we thought we'd need to cancel our trip. However, it turned out that she was able to come, so I re-booked the same rooms/dates on Feb. 15, and I was a little sad that the price was now $1,897.29. I don't really understand why the huge difference, but since it was an important trip, I went ahead and booked.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay very much. The room was clean and comfortable. The service and food at breakfast was exceptional. We really enjoyed the grounds as well, the gardens were beautifully maintained. The location and self parking were great additions as well. We would stay there again in a heartbeat. We didn't have a pet with us, but we loved how welcoming you were to the 4 legged family members too. Well done, thank you for a great visit.

The bed was a but uncomfortable, but wouldn't stop me from staying again.

The location was great. Rooms were old fashioned, however large and comfortable. Loved the little courtyard and active fireplace (couldn't see carbon monoxide alarm though). Wine and cheese at 5pm was thoughtful and excellent Breakfast omelette was superb and lots of items on offer - very generous.

We felt that the dogs got a better reception from the evening check in. Rest of staff were great - helpful and interested The water in the hotel tastes dreadful and smells of sulphur. Hotel definitely need to provide drinking water in the rooms and to filter all drinking water for tea coffee etc.

room Was excellent in size/comfort/cleanliness/bit noisy during the day . breakfast and afternoon snack was good variety and worth it. location was ideal for walking to the canary row or s around the block . easy access walking distance to shops and restaurant. very good strategic location .

the parking structure was dangerous to get in trout . the rental car was scratching in and out at the bottom of the car. needs a sign or warning at the front desk at check in . definitely the only issue we faced at our stay at this lovely place . warning signs will come a long way .

The room is huge and beautifully furnished, with a gas fireplace, sitting area with two armchairs, huge wooden desk and high sloped ceilings. There was also a small balcony from which the ocean was visible, even though it's not a beachfront property. Breakfast was delicious (omelettes instead of congealed scrambled eggs) and cheese and wine in the evening is a convenient bonus. Location could not have been better, we walked everywhere we wanted to see in Monterey, and parking in the hotel garage was $17, which I found reasonable after San Francisco.
