What a charming hotel. It is right in the middle of the action on Cannery Row, which allowed walking everywhere - shops, restaurants, attractions. The entire staff was professional, kind, engaging and helpful. From the valet parking, to the front desk, the housekeeping, everyone was lovely. The delivered breakfast each morning on a silver tray was a treat, as was the wonderful window seat in our room, where the windows opened and looked out the ocean and the beach below. The fireplace seating area was a bonus! The bed, linens and pillows were all comfy and cozy and the room and bathroom were very clean. Oh, and the fridge/coffee area was a great bonus too. And finally, the wine and cheese daily reception was so unexpected and quaint, and nice place to get to know your fellow hotel mates, while enjoying a lovely wood-burning fire in the incredible lobby fireplace.

The only thing I could say was that the bathroom could have used a bit of updating (refreshed caulking for instance), but otherwise, it was very clean and not at all "icky".

The hotel was very nice and clean and the location right on Cannery Row was ideal. We were greeted with wine and snacks when we checked in and there was a free room-service breakfast in the morning which is a huge improvement from the usual downstairs buffet were you have to take food that has already been picked over by a bunch of unwashed children.

Although we really liked the option of breakfast delivered to the room instead of a nasty buffet, as vegans, we ended up with just a few slices of fruit and a baby's serving of Raisin Bran as our whole meal.

Rooms are as exactly as described - ours was very spacious with a seating area, large bathroom and comfortable king bed. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the valet service was very appreciated!

Elevators are slow - there’s only one for the entire building but not too much of inconvenience

It was the most recommended hotel when we were looking to book for a short holiday and it is very clear why. The hotel is in the middle of all the good and tourist friendly places, hence walking around was always a good option. The rooms are exceptionally clean and have a cozy, inviting feeling to them. Interestingly, the hotel was busy even after "holiday season", after the schools have begun, hinting at the popularity of Monterey and the hotel itself. Some highlights: complimentary wine in the evening. A "menu" of pillows (around 8) to choose from for your personal preference and comfort, in the room.

None that we disliked.

Breakfast very stingy. Small bowl of fruit and 3 tiny pastries and some yogurt. Would have liked more variety.

Staff hospitality, cleaning.

I was assured that the room is quiet. It was my main request. It overlooked the main street with so called sport bar. The drunk people cried till mid night. Crazy young drivers opened their windows with high volume music (it's local specialty as I realize). You have no chance to get a sleep with open window and no AC in the room. May be it is because of the weekend. This is not a fall of the hotel, but is being a bad surprise for the guest.

Wow!! Just returned to England after our California road trip and I have to say this hotel was my highlight! We had an ocean view room and WOW it was incredible. I would 100% recommend paying extra for the ocean view. We spent a morning just sitting in the bay window watching the ocean and the wildlife with the binoculars provided and it was just magical! I love the fact that breakfast is served in our rooms as well, it made the stay feel more intimate. The staff were lovely and polite and really made us feel welcome. We hope to return back to this gem one day!

Maybe a hot option for breakfast

Our room at the Spindrift Inn was absolutely charming. Although we arrived later than expected, we were disappointed not to have more time to enjoy this beautiful room. Four doors opened onto a balcony, providing a perfect spot to sit and watch people come and go. We also had amazing views of Cannery Row. The room was decorated with such attention to detail that it truly made us feel relaxed and at home. The bed was very comfortable, with plenty of pillows to cozy up and settle in for the night. The continental breakfast delivered to our room was a sweet and romantic touch, allowing us to enjoy a private breakfast before starting our day.

My only complaint about the Spindrift, and it is entirely my own fault for not checking this detail when we booked, was that there was no air conditioning. There was a fan and the doors opened to let in some fresh air, but it became noisy with the doors open as young people headed back to their respective “homes” after a night out. That being said, I am glad I didn’t notice that the room did not have A/C, or I might not have booked it and missed out on this beautiful room.

What a beautiful hotel! I chose this hotel for the location and I was not disappointed! Located on the water, in the heart of Monterey. We were easily able to walk around the town to fantastic restaurants, the aquarium and we enjoyed the beach right out in front of the hotel. Our room was not only comfortable but so cute with a great little bay window I enjoyed sitting in. And we loved the made to order breakfast that was delivered to our room each morning. I would highly recommend the Spindrift and look forward to staying again.

My fault for not reading the details but I didn't realize we would have to pay additional for parking and we felt obligated, it was even suggested to us, to tip each time our car was brought to us, so the parking fee really added up. Otherwise it was all fantastic.

The Room view was beautiful. We had the windows open all night to hear the sound of the waves crashing on the shore. We were surprised by an upgrade to our room. We wanted the room in the corner but was unable to afford it. Imagine my surprise they had upgraded us to that room. It was my birthday trip so it was a wonderful surprise. The room was quiet and you were not able to hear any other guests. Breakfast served right to our room to eat in front of the large windows looking out to the bay was perfect! Perfect location for eating and shopping.

Of course paying the extra money for the valet parking was not in our budget but we managed. It was nice not having to find parking for overnight and knowing that they had a secured lot for our car to stay overnight. There was nothing else that we did not like. The room, location and view were perfect.
