the view from the window was a wall.....we asked in advance for a nice view and would have appreciated a nicer view

We booked two nights to visit Monterey & Carmel. The photos don't do this place justice - First it looked like a small B&B and then like a motel - which it is neither - it's a great, friendly and comfortable hotel with large comfortable rooms and nice bathrooms. The breakfast is great, they have relatively cheap parking and the location is great - a few minutes walk to Cannery Row, Monterey Bay Aquarium, restaurants (we'd recommend Hulas Island Grill), and a 15 minute drive to Carmel & 17 mile drive. Would absolutely recommend this place - such great value.

Breakfast was excellent ! I had expected a typical continental variety of cereals and premade baked goods but they also had hot choices, like oatmeal, egg fritattas, waffles. The staff is prompt, so nice and friendly! Happy hour is an added bonus. The rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious. Having the fireplace is so nice for ambiance end warming up after a cooler day. The bathroom has two separate sinks, which is great for couples and families to get ready. The facilities are so beautiful and well kept! The location is perfect, close to all the main attractions and restaurants. We walked everywhere ! CVS and other essential services are within walking distance. Overall, we had a beautiful and peaceful stay at the Victoran Inn and look forward a future stay for sure!

STAFF WAS INCREDIBLE. Breakfast was ample and kept being replenished. Wine and cheese were a bonus. Proximity to the walking path was crucial to my visit.

The smoke alarm that went off every 30 seconds for 2 hours on my first night there. The staff member was "at lunch" at 7:10 p.m. when I called. I finally went to the lobby as the sound was deafening. The worker arrived 8:30 p.m. and I wasn't back in my room till 9:00. the night manager was very helpful and considerate, but couldn't do much to make the worker arrive. Luckily, the general manager arrived the next morning and honored my request to stay an extra night to make up for the very upsetting arrival.

We were greeted at the front desk warm and welcoming, and the check-in process was quick and easy. The room had everything promised and was overall comfortable, albeit the property is a little old. Not sure how old the wing was we stayed in, but it was overall acceptable.

The shower head had some calcium build up, as well as the shower knob. The glass shower door opened a little it while taking a shower and flooded the bathroom floor a little because of it, slight design issue. The patio door was closed but unlocked when we arrived. The wing is secured with a card reader to enter, however, to enter through the garage using the elevator does not require a keycard, perhaps something to think about.

Property is nice, clean, and in a great location. Location made it walkable to Cannery Row and Monterey b\Bay Aquarium. Room was nice, area and design made it felt private. Parking was easy and accessible. Breakfast was a step above basic, and the wine and cheese hour was a nice snack.

Paid for the upgraded room on the higher floor, view, and fire place. The room was beautiful but the View was not worth it, faced a dilapidated abandoned building. Was facing the street and the windows were paper thin, can basically hear people walking by on the sidewalk. The room was cold, attempted multiple times to set the thermostat to 70 degrees Fahrenheit, but the tiny heater could not keep up with the cold. Yes I did set it correctly by pressing "hold" and setting it to the correct degrees. The Fireplace is for show, it was nice to have but did nothing to heat up the space.

Quiet, great customer service and very comfortable rooms make the Victorian Inn one of our favorites! The afternoon wine hour and included breakfast are wonderful also!

The room was very comfortable and clean. We slept quite well on the bed. The customer service staff was very friendly and helpful. It was a very convenient location for us. Breakfast was very good, better than expected. Parking was relatively easy in the covered basement level. We did have to pay extra to park. We would have stayed there longer had we planned to do so. All in all, it was a very delightful stay. We found a really nice restaurant not too far away called Lighthouse Global Cuisine-definitely a nice find and recommended by us.

We weren't crazy about paying extra for parking. The one downside was the quality of the water...not sure, but we found it undrinkable. We actually went and bought some bottled water for drinking purposes.

Everyone was so very nice and helpful, stellar staff all around. The afternoon cheese and wine was fun (and Victor was incredibly charming), and the breakfast was lovely. There were plenty of items to choose from, and the coffee was excellent. Even the in-room coffee was great. The room (king) was huge, and I loved the fireplace. The bed was comfortable, and my friend's room had tables and a window seat where we could gather in the evenings. It was easy to walk down to Cannery Row and up to Lighthouse Avenue (Gianni's on Lighthouse is a great pizza place, and there's also a CVS), and we felt safe in the area.

When I originally booked on January 31, the total cost was $1,430.31. Sadly, there was a death in my friend's family, and we thought we'd need to cancel our trip. However, it turned out that she was able to come, so I re-booked the same rooms/dates on Feb. 15, and I was a little sad that the price was now $1,897.29. I don't really understand why the huge difference, but since it was an important trip, I went ahead and booked.

The entire hotel is so beautiful. The room is adequately sized with a very comfortable bed and chairs. The fireplace is the best feature in the room. It truly add ambiance to the experience. The immenties in the room were very nice. Breakfast is amazing. Quite a feast both mornings. The wine and cheese in the afternoons is a perfect way to wind down from the daily adventures and prepare for dinner. All employees we came in contact with were extremely friendly, helpful and always ready to answer any questions or help. It is situated in a great location that allows for walking to sights and hiking trails. And there is any type of restaurant you could want within a short walk from the hotel. Easy to use parking area which is covered and so welcome.
