I had an incredible stay at the Monterey Hotel! From the moment I arrived, the staff was welcoming and attentive, ensuring that every need was met. The location was perfect—close to major attractions yet peaceful enough for a relaxing getaway. Near the hotel across the road, there is a wonderful cafe where you can have amazing crepes for breakfast. They were absolutely amazing! The texture was perfect—thin, soft, and slightly crispy around the edges. The fillings were fresh, flavorful, and generous. I went with the classic Nutella and banana option, and it was heavenly. My son ordered a savory crepe with cheese which was just as delicious. You can tell they use high-quality ingredients, and everything is made with care.

The only thing that disappointed me was disappointing due to the lack of soundproofing.

The room was comfortable, clean and roomy.

I had booked my room months before we arrived. I asked for room 302., as we frequent your hotel regularly. On the day we arrived, I received a text confirmation that I had room 302 and everything was paid. When we arrived, I was told the room was already booked and that we would be in another room and asked what happened. I was very disappointed as I had gone to a lot of trouble to book that particular room months before. When I complained to the manager, he was unapologetic and just assigned us another room with no explanation. Although I enjoy the Monterey Hotel this laissez faire attitude is concerning and I hesitate to book again.

The location was the best! 7 minute walk to the wharf. Paved walking path to Cannery Row and the Aquarium. Many choices for food and coffee. Convenient and afforadable parking!

Because it’s a historic building, there were steps and stairs. Interesting configurations. The historic king room we had was TINY!

Conveniently located, clean not a lot of rooms nice & quiet✨✨

I couldn’t make a probably staying a 3rd day, I was had to make a 2 or 3 day confirmation. I explained we didn’t know if my husbands job needed him a 3 day. So we got a 2 night stay. Luckily for the 3rd day when we where my husbands job said they needed him that 3 day, we didn’t have to move rooms.

PERFECT LOCATION!! Rooms were very clean and comfortable. The staff was very accommodating with every question I had about nearby restaurants and hotel info. Definitely worth staying at!

Walls were super thin. Could hear everything from the hallway and the rooms next door.

It was an old hotel and although the place was antique it was awesome! It was like I was back in the time it was built but had the comforts of modern day. Perfect walking distance to see everything the town has to offer.

Had to charge my phone away from my nightstand, but that's a very minor inconvenience

Had my room upgraded to a deluxe due to the dated state of the regular room, and that was a good choice, I had a great stay there

This is an older hotel and they have tried to do some upgrades, they still need some more but with the location being so central to everything my stay was great.

Great location and friendly staff! Would definitely stay here again and would recommend to others. :) The hotel is charming, staff are friendly and extremely helpful, and the hotel is walking distance to the wharf and aquarium. Loved my stay here!

The Monterey Hotel is an old building, which has been renovated of course. If you enjoy nostalgic/historical surroundings, you’ll feel comfortable here. There’s no AC, but fans were provided and we slept well, all things considered. The location is great, just two blocks from the Old Wharf, a block from Starbucks, and a pub across the street. The staff was excellent, and responsive. Lastly you can’t beat the cost.

Lack of AC would be my only complaint, but considering the weather is typically comfortable there, you may not need it anyway.

Good location and prise. Everything you needed is available, even coffee.

Hotel is “pet friendly”, but no one predicted us about extra price for pets… they just took money after we left(( And when my dog unfortunately peed on the floor in the lobby, they gave me the tissue and said clean it by myself. it’s not difficult for me, but for me it’s not a good service in pet friendly hotel(
