Location is very walkable to the heart of downtown. WiFi was good. Room size was as expected. Staff let us park our car in the lot a few hours before check in. This was our second time staying, and we'll definitely stay again.

Early check in costs extra. Late check out costs extra by the hour. Walls were thin, so we could consistently hear our neighbors' muffled speaking and could also hear the shower running (not just pipe noises, but the patter of the water too).

Location is very close to downtown (one block away to the main drag). Room was very clean. Easy checkin. Parking available. We usually stay here when we're in town because of these aspects. And the price is great!

Do not bring your pet or you will be charged a large amount of money. We made the mistake of bringing our dog and were charged for it afterward. They aren't even allowed ON the property, so don't even think about staying there and having your dog sleep in the car. I'm sure there were signs posted in the lobby during check in but I didn't see them and the person checking us in didn't mention it, so I didn't think about it until after we checked out. Once we left, I received a call claiming they "found dog hair in our room" and that they were going to charge us for it. That's fine, I just wish I had read the fine print on the contract first. And I wish the property details during reservation were more explicit about their no pet policy.

Great location, walkable to great restaurants, etc. The room was clean. Main reason I selected this hotel was because it had a microwave and refrigerator. It is budget friendly. Nothing fancy but met the needs.

Noise. The rooms are not soundproof, so it can very loud when people talk, especially outside and the parking lot. The person who was staying above my room was heavy footed so everytime he/she walked they were huge thuds.

Comfy beds, spacious bathroom, microwave and big refrigerator in the room. Plenty of parking spaces. Walkable distance from town center. Friendly and helpful staff. Freeway is close, gas station just next door. Recommend!

The beds are quite narrow, even though they're double beds, it might be uncomfortable for 2 people. We slept on separate beds. The airon is quite loud, we didn't mind this though.

DAILY room service! I was so very pleasantly surprised! It was awesome - when staying for multiple nights - to not need to beg for additional towels, as fresh new ones appeared! It appears that late check ins are doable and not ideal. It is a noteworthy, but not uncomfortable and certainly flat, walk to downtown amenities. The money we saved on lodging made it easy to grab the occasional Uber, have a snack/breakfast at a fun local place, and still have many funds available! There is enough parking for everyone!

Everything was excellent. Possibly the best inn/motel that I’ve stayed in for the price. Rooms are well laid out, excellent location, super clean. Our room appeared to be fairly new and renovated. Nice large air conditioner, if you need it. Only point of improvement is that on the second floor, the lights outside the room were really bright. But, hopefully it makes it a safe place to stay.

This is a motel, not a hotel or anything fancy. Your room faces the parking lot and you have a small room on the ground floor or second floor with a bathroom (that is a hotel). So as far as hotels go, we liked the location, the rooms were fine, the site was fine, coffee in the lobby and ice was available. Checking in and out was easy and parking was easy. We paid graduation weekend prices (2x normal), but that is to be expected in demand based pricing.

Great value for money. Perfect for short stay Great location, short walk to downtown. Very Comfortable bed, clean linens, good pillows, very clean bathroom. Blackout curtains. Good bedside lights with bedside plug-in for your phone charger. Has iron, extra blanket, good shower if you are tall. Insulated windows keep it quiet in the room despite busy street outside. . Owner kindly kept our bags in office for a few hours while we went for lunch and waited for our afternoon train

Not necessarily negatives given the affordable price point, just FYI: Only local channels on TV, no way to hook to paid channels via your phone/ tablet. No usb charging in room, bring your plug-in charger (plenty if plugs). No pool or recreational amenities, so not a vacation resort place. 1/2 the rooms are up stairs with no elevator, so book accordingly. (Busy concierge hauled our bags up the stairs for us, which was very nice of him) No hairdryer in room. Maybe one available at front desk? Only Negative: $50/hour for late checkout - ouch. So plan to check out on time.(college town, aparantly late ckeckouts have caused problems for them in the past?)

The front desk personnel was more than gracious. Made it super comfortable and easy to check in and out. The room was very clean and neat. My wife drove 6 hours to meet me there with our 3 week old baby, and she was treated with the same courtesy and respect upon her arrival. The front desk called my room for approval before giving out any information. We really liked that. It made us feel safe and comfortable.

I have no dislikes about our stay

It was an excellent value. The location is very good -- access to downtown SLO. The staff was very courteous and accommodating. I have stayed here previously and would stay again.

The best way to describe the Avenue Inn Downtown District is that it is a former Travelodge that has been painted, has new basic furniture. and is quiet.
