It’s a mom and pop shop, free of corporate greed. Updated room, comfortable bed, new appliances, everything I needed. For me, it was walking distance to restaurants and shops straight down Monterey street. Compared to other places I stayed, an incredible value. Personal service, they own it. When circumstances of my stay were shortened, they were very gracious in changing my reservation. We’ll be back in this area for vacation at some point, this will be the first place we check for a room.

I recently stayed at the Sunbeam Motel in San Luis Obispo and couldn’t have been happier with my experience. The rooms were super clean and cozy, making it easy to relax after a long day of exploring the area. The location is spot-on, close to all the best spots in town, yet tucked away enough to be nice and quiet at night. What stood out, though, was the staff. The cleaning crew did an amazing job each day, ensuring everything was spotless and comfortable. And I can’t say enough good things about Jerry, the property manager. He was incredibly friendly and went out of his way to make sure I had everything I needed, even sharing some great local tips. If you’re looking for a place that’s clean, convenient, and run by genuinely caring people, I’d highly recommend the Sunbeam Motel. It’s a little gem in San Luis Obispo!

Everything was great!

The staff was very accommodating when I asked to have a quieter room.

The only things I didn't care for were: 1)the AC outlet on the lamp was faulty and I had to work around this by pulling out the table and accessing a cord there; 2)I could hear the guests in the adjacent room; 3)the AC said "do not use" and the alternative (I guess) was a tower unit that didn't do much. All of these are relatively minor; fortunately the adjacent guests went to sleep before I did, and I left the room for the evening so the AC was not a factor.

Really great hotel for the price, I spent a long time comparing hotels for my stay in San Francisco and every hotel the reviews had something to complain about so I just went with this which seemed decent enough and was cheap. I was very pleasantly surprised! The room was clean, comfy, and had everything I needed. The location was really convenient, a short 5-10 minute walk from Union Square with a 7/11 and a Wallgreens on the way. The 24/7 manned reception for buzzing people into the building made it feel safe. I'd definitely stay here again if I went back to San Francisco.

The room only had wall lights/lamps so it was a little dark but I kind of liked the ambience. No aircon in the room but I stayed in April so didn't really need it with San Francisco's weather, I'm not sure what it would be like in the hotter months.

Floor was dirty, may have been swept. But some white clothing moved along the floor came up rather dirty. This was the only downside. Also Very squeaky bed. Baby asleep next to me in his travel cot and every time I moved the bed made noise was worried I would wake him. But this is a very minor concern. This place is wonderful overall and such good value for money

Easy free parking and a simple walk ( 10- 15 mins ) to the heart of shops , bars and restaurants .we were only stopping overnight so perfect for us as I didn't want to drive out anywhere after travelling so was very happy with the location . Check in and out was easy with a friendly staff member so overall very happy with the stay

Hard to be critical when the cost of a property was this cheap . If I had paid 250 dollars for the night then I could be critical but with a good location and basic room which was fine I was happy . The only downside was the air-conditioning wasn't the best

We were on our way from San Francisco to Los Angeles and so we picked to stay at San Luis Obispo since it was midway through the journey. Sunbeam was the best-rated, value hotel that I could find. We liked that we were given a ground-floor room and we could park our car directly in front of it which made baggage handling way easier. The owner was very helpful in giving us recommendations, especially for dinner. We got to eat at the Hawaiian barbeque joint that he recommended.

It was confusing to find the place as construction of the check-in area was still under progress. The motel is a motor motel so there are no frills or anything.

Exceptional value for a clean, comfortable motel within walking distance to wonderful restaurants. The owner was accommodating and so very nice. Small amount of remodeling noise but nothing that ruined our stay. This will be my go-to-place when I need to stay in SLO. I live in Paso so it will be exciting to see the wonderful remodeling transformation the owner is making on this property. Absolutely give a 10!

The room was beautiful and perfect for what I needed, which was a room for the night in between a long day moving my daughter out from her Cal Poly apartment. My room was clean, well-appointed, and comfy. Parking was adjacent, and it was very close to the university, which made things super convenient. I had read good reviews and was going on faith. Everything exceeded my expectations. The motel is undergoing a big renovation, and you can see that. But, inside my room, it was perfect.

Really friendly staff. Even though we were late checking in, he was there to meet us, and gave us some good tips on what to do/where to go in the town. The room was comfortable. Good location for restaurants/ town etc. Really good value for money.

The room could do with some updating, but I think this is in the process of happening. (Improvements to the hotel site were taking place when we were there).
