The room was bigger than we expected. The bathroom was also big, updated, and it was all super clean. It was so much nicer than I expected. I would stay there again 1000%.

It was a bit noisy when we went were trying to sleep. In all fairness we are old and it is a family friendly place to stay. It didn’t last very long.

This is basically a couple driveways down from the famous Madonna Inn, but I'm sure it's much more affordable. Despite that, my room was excellent; everything I tried seemed to work, bed was comfortable, room itself was large enough and staff was very nice. The Denny's next door provided 10 percent off when showing room key, which was appreciated. Convenient location off Highway 101.

Wish I could've stayed longer.

I absolutly love this Hotel..!!!! It is family owned.. The same guy helps me everytime.. Comes out with a big smile.. The rooms are always immaculate and smell fresh when I walk in. They return the deposit to my card in a timley manner. There is a Shell gas station and a Denny's right down the driveway walking takes 3min.. The room is always stocked with plenty of towels body wash ect.. I can't say enough about this place.. Very affordable and cozy.. I stay here a couple times a week and I dont go anywhere else.. Can't wait for the hot weather so I can enjoy the pool.

For years we’ve been coming to SLO to visit our kid at Cal Poly. We’re habitually stayed in the same hotel every time, mainly out of habit and lazy loyalty. We were unable to book our “usual” this time, though, but found rooms at the Vagabond Inn. My expectations weren’t very high, but WOW were we delighted in this fantastic gem of a place. I only wish we’d have broadened our horizons years ago, as THIS location would have become our favorite. Staff was amazing, check in easy, location easy and convenient.

Wish I’d stayed there sooner!

Reception was attentive and welcoming. The room was clean and comfortable, parking abundant, easy access to the room. Amenities were great, from the microwave, fridge and tv to the provided (environmentally responsible) soap dispensers in the bathroom and at the - in bedroom - sink. A park (including 'off the leash' spacious dog section) is present within walking distance (takes probably 5 minutes to walk to the park which includes some type of driving range set up as well, bring your own gear). The Denny's next door provides great service and meals (although very little to no vegetarian) against a 10% discount. An extensive shopping mall with grocery store is just across from the Inn on Madonna Road. Very pleasant experience.

There is really no criticism of substance applicable. If one would want to improve on the experience, it probably would be that the sink is in the bedroom. If someone gets up early, brushing teeth etc. will disrupt the resting parties sleep. Perhaps a partial room divider would help.

It was cheap, clean, and comfortable. I also loved the pool. There was a Denny’s near by which I’m glad it was there since I wanted some late night and I didn’t want to drive. There are also stores around like Ross and target, and CVS not that far from there.

As much as it was a great stay I didn’t keep on hearing noises at night and in the morning which is why I can say that the walls are thin and you are able to hear things. I couldn’t tell if in the morning was the neighbors or the inn cleaning the room but overall the stay was well

The staff is super nice friendly checking in was very quick as was checking out. We needed a few extra towels in later in the evening and they even went ahead and brought them to the room instead of making me go down to get them in the cold. Very happy with this hotel we stay there every time were traveling thru there we don't even try to look at any other hotel this is a great value for how nice it is and it's in the ideal location it close to a grocery store along with many different fast food as well as sit down restaurant and other shopping stores as well. Most recommend hotel in the area in my opinion

I don't have any negative to say and I've stayed there over 6 different times throughout the year this past year and every experience has been the same lovely so I have NO NEGATIVE FEEDBACK from me.

It is pretty close to downtown SLO through Uber, and it was nice being so close to the Madonna inn! I stayed for 4 days and honestly the rooms were spacious and clean and nice and cold ( can change temperature on AC FYI ) and it was quiet and comfortable. I stayed here with my partner for my birthday trip and it was our favorite hotel we have been to so far! also the dennys is close and gives discount for people staying at the hotel.

Location was good. It was a short drive to the downtown area and college. It is between Dennys and IHop so it makes the parking busy but plenty of spaces. The front office has limited hours so late check ins and outs are a little different. If you arrive past 11 pm you will get your key from a lock box. Super easy but I did not like to have to tell them when I will be arriving. Again, super easy just a little different. I would stay here again

Good value. Hotel is not fancy, not upscale, in fact it is an ordinary old style hotel, but it is clean (interiors updated) and for the price it mets my needs- clean, affordable, no problems. I've stayed several times for one quick night passing though. Something nicer is way more money and something cheaper is yucky.

It's old, it's ordinary and boring, but hey for the price compared to other places in town I can't complain. If you want a resort to hang out in, or you want something to be proud of, skip it. If you want a clean room with no frills without emptying your wallet it's worth it.
