The view was wonderful. We saw many different types of birds as well as the Vista of the Mesas and mountains in the distance. The door to the balcony afforded a wonderful breeze through the room. Even with the porch lights, it was possible to see the Milky Way in the wee hours of the morning.

There wasn't anything I didn't like, but what I noticed was the age of the buildings and the need for updates for decor and function. Because this is a national park, I was made well aware that my tax dollars would be well spent to support national parks and the amenities that allow us to comfortably visit these wild and open spaces. I am grateful that Farview Lodge is available in the heart of the park for better access and viewing of historical landmarks.

Location was terrific - there are very few lodging options within the park - campgrounds or the Far View Lodge are it. It was wonderful to be inside the park already; we had a 9am Balcony House tour which meant we had to arrive at 8:45am. Having a room at Far View Lodge meant that we could get more sleep and spend less time in the morning navigating windy roads. The room was small but clean; the 2 Queen beds were comfortable, and my family enjoyed the little balcony too.

Nothing. It's not fancy but it beats staying outside the park.

good location for visiting Mesa Verde - you are right in the heart of the park. Spacious lodge room with nice look out onto trees and a bit of the distant horizon. Nice restaurant at lodge with great views and very tasty food (although it wasn't cheap! and no other food option in the evening)

A few housekeeping issues could have been better, we had no plug for the sink and the coffee machine didn't work properly. Also it was cold when we were there, and although the room heating warmed up the room, we could have done with an extra thick layer on the bed as it was quite cold in the night. But those things didn't really spoil our stay, on the whole it was good.

This is the only game in town if you want to stay in the park and not camp. The rooms are decent with great views, but are rather dated with paper think walls. I have come to expect this from all in-park lodging. Does not appear that any updates to the room have happened in many years, although the room was overall clean (except for the coffee maker, which looked like a biohazard).

Considering the cost for this very basic hotel, I would love to see them invest some money in updating the rooms. Always a step back in time with in-park hotel accommodations. Very much paying for location.

Staff at the upstairs restaurant/bar was obviously overwhelmed yet very kind and professional. Food in main restaurant was one of the best meals of our 4000 mile trip . A nice surprise. We were so glad we got a room inside the park so we didn’t have to make that long drive up each day

No microwave in the room and ours seemed to be the only room that didn’t have a little table to go with the chairs on the deck. The walls are paper thin so you can hear the neighbors talking. But the ambience of seeing the feral horses, deer, and being right there in the park makes up for it.

Practically a must stay if you are doing Mesa Verde NP, as the location in the park makes life so much easier. Quiet and clean little room, friendly staff and very friendly restaurant staff and waiters with good food and views.

We had noisy neighbors for two nights as the place is older with thinner walls. But I don't hold that against the lodge. Inconsiderate humans are becoming part of the travel experience and just a little bad luck they were next to us.

View, Location.

The Dinner service was very slow. Many others were served before us. One of the meals was cold and the other was warm. It appeared that the cold meal was waiting for the warm meal to be ready before both being brought to the table. Breakfast was atrocious. Too much throw away plates and crockery. Little to no healthy food items. Eggs hard, rubbery and not fresh. Both the sausage and bacon were way too salty. They ran out of crockery and the staff couldn't find any to restock. Hard to know how one is expected to eat an omelet without crockery.

The Far View Lodge offers peace and quiet as well as great star gazing opportunities! We loved watching the sunset from the restaurant’s rooftop bar. While we were initially hesitant based on some of the other reviews, we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the lodge rooms and friendly staff. Although the facilities are a little more basic, this is what one should expect when staying at a remote location inside a national park. It’s a unique opportunity and get closer to nature that we would recommend for any trip to the region.

We paid a little extra to get a room that had a view. While I personally was expecting to have a view of the Cliff Palace, it was a little further down, so that was not possible. That said, we honestly loved everything about the property, and both agreed that we would pay extra for the views again. We also had an issue with the AC unit. They had Maintance there within about 20 min, and replaced the whole AC unit. Overall a great way to handle a problem and gave me confidence that we would be taken care of in the future.

The only downside was that the breakfast was not included. Honestly though, we ended up paying for an omelet and some sides and it was less than $10 which was by far the cheapest on the trip. Overall I would have recommended that everyone does that as both my wife and I ate for that amount. They also had some issues with the amount of staff on hand for dinner as well. Since we wanted a cheaper option for dinner, we went to the lounge, and there were only 2 people who were taking orders. They were both amazing, but it could have easily been made better by having another person in addition to the server and bartender.

Booking canceled my reservation and didn’t tell me about it. The Hotel was full, but the manager managed to find one room to accommodate my friend and I. We had reserved 2 rooms, grateful Josh was able to find us at least the one room. On that note, I will NEVER use booking.com again. This was the first and last time.

Booking.com. I received the cancelation notice on May 18th and my reservation was for May 16th.
