The location is near a bus line, which I used daily. It's also near a few fun breweries & eateries & a park. I parked my car (which needed to stay parked for my stay) in front of the residence & none of my belongings left in its interior were bothered. The friendly woman in charge at the hostel/inn recommended to park in front on the street since there are security cameras there. She is a very helpful person &, after a problem with my room at check-in, was accommodating in moving my things. The man in charge, Chris, was absolutely wonderful in solving the problem with the room & I am so appreciative of them both! I enjoyed the front porch and the upstairs rear porch. I liked being able to shower upstairs in a lovely clean bathroom with a pretty sink & window. There was a shared, clean toilet & sink near my room as well as a kitchen with a coffee maker & clean fridge. The fan in my room combined with the window AC unit & the cool front room was necessary--very nice. I was able to do a load of laundry there, too :) The lodging worked very well for my purposes! Thank you!!

I had no idea these kinds of hostels existed outside of Europe. Very quiet, very clean. Perfect if you're looking for an extended stay to see the Twin Cities, a quiet retreat to study/write/work, ect. It has a very cozy home away from home vibe. The caretakers, Sandy and Mike are awesome.

Everything has been great, even booked a couple extra weeks. Most Americans won't understand the setup though I think... you are sharing kitchens and bathrooms, but paying only a third of what you would be at a Best Western or Extended Stay Hotel/motel. There are also no TVs in the rooms (some people would actually count this as a blessing... unless you're a screen addicted American lol) so make sure you pack a laptop or Tablet. WiFi is included with your stay. All good, no complaints 10/10 for sure.

Only one outlet for 2 people and it was already used for thr AC and lamp. So to charge our phones we had to sacrifice the AC or light. Also the room could be organized better for ease of access. For example; lamp in the corner, bed turned into corner and side table by bed, full body mirror behind door. Also they could think outside of the box and add some shelves on the wall. With a small room you have to get creative. I know its a hostel, but if they want to improve it could really add a lot.

This was my second stay at the Madison Hotel and it did not disappoint! The location is fantastic and the upper rooms have a great view of downtown, especially during the winter months. There are some great places to eat and drink within walking distance and the neighborhood is NE friendly. Sandy the house manager is a pure delight, is always available with a smile and goes above and beyond in all that she does. The facilities are wonderful and have two spacious kitchens that have every amenity that you would need for either a short or extended stay. Excellent Wi-fi connection! Highly recommend!

It's accurately portrayed in the description. The location is amazing for walking or scootering to some great pubs and coffee shops and restaurants. I never saw a staff, but they were always responsive via messaging.

It's true the actual rooms may be slightly small, but for our purposes it was fine. Always fun to meet other travelers too.

I stayed in The 'Office.' For just me, the loft was great and I loved that the couch could convert to a bed. Be sure to bring hangers for your clothes! They really let you make yourself at home. Don't be shy and really make use of common areas. The local businesses are very friendly and there are some beautiful art galleries within walking distance as well. Lots to preoccupy yourself with if you are alone.

Make sure to follow the instructions in any emails they send you so that you do not disturb anyone else staying there. Upon arrival, I went to the front door instead of the back door like it said in the email and it caused a bit of conflict with someone. As long as everyone is considerate, respectful and picks up after themselves, The Madison is a very lovely, peaceful stay that I would recommend anyone, especially solo travelers.

Great location by the arts district. I walk a lot, so I thought it was well situated for myself. Enjoyed the layout of the house, was very interesting! Very responsive owners to messages and needs, they were fantastic! 4 bathrooms on site so didn’t have to wait for one to use

Not a whole lot of noise reduction, but all of the guests were respectful so it wasn’t an issue for us, but it’s something to keep in mind. Bit of a small room for two people but we weren’t around much so it wasn’t a problem.

Clean, friendly, and patient, I found peace, sanctuary, and amazing people here. The neighborhood is quiet and nice. It reawakened hope after being in a dark place, so to speak. Would recommend this place to anyone looking for a comfortable spot with clean rooms and good company.

Firstly the staff and the people staying here all all incredible. Every issue or request I had was resolved immediately. It has a very homey feel while still maintaining amenities like a hotel would. Everyone is very friendly and when there is an issue they are open to just talking about it and resolving it without any conflict or difficulties. Beautiful area, big park just down the block, great for animals, and everyone treated my mischievous little kitty like the good girl she only is part of the time. Haha no this place is excellent and I would recommend to anyone who needs a cheap nice place to stay for a while.

I didn’t really have any issues here at all and anything that I needed like figuring out how the heat worked or how to do certain things were shown to me immediately and were resolved as soon as I asked.
