Location. Joins immediately to Mayo Clinic. I just took the elevator from my room to the lower level, and I was there. Check in was not friendly, but not complicated and they accommodated my early arrival at 2 pm. At check out luggage storage was available and was complimentary.

Lack of restaurant facilities. There are private restaurants in the building or connected to the building, but you will have to discover them on your own. Room was small but more than adequate. What does all that space matter when you are out of the room or while sleeping? They did an excellent job of updating the rooms in this classic and historic building.

Excellent location, unbeatable. Pool is excellent. Cool art gallery in the relaxing mezzanine level. You can purchase the pieces.

Facilities are dated and many, not in a "charming" way but, rather, in In a "tired" way, except for the mezzanine and pool levels The rooms are like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get. Many of our friends stayed here at the same time, in various rooms. I had the opportunity to see rooms, ranging from a 2-person flop house-style room overlooking the security glass of the parking garage; to a deluxe, 2-room unit with impeccable updates--and many in-between. Good luck getting the right one!

They updated a lot of the rooms. Very nice. Some things like tub faucets and paint in bathrooms did not get done. Would be nice. Make sure to ask for a room not looking at roof though. And there's no AC in the room. Little stuffy

We've stayed a fee times now and are always given a room looking at the roof. We have to ask before we are given a room with a better view. Why they don't just do that to begin with? Book the others when they are all that's left. No AC in the rooms. Gets very stuffy and you can't open the windows.

Great location to the Mayo Clinic. You can walk over without ever having to go outside if the weather is bad. Very clean. Friendly staff. Will definitely stay again.

Lots of construction going on. Made it hard to load and unload your vehicle. That is just one of the inconveniences of construction though. The final product will make it worth it.

Very convenient for the purpose of my trip. All I had to do was walk across the street. Very pleasant staff. Everything was neat and clean. Comfortable bed.

Room was very far from the elevator. Difficult when you have trouble walking. I wanted room service for dinner. Called twice, letting it ring 20-30 times. No answer.

The TV channel guide did not match the channels available on the TV. There was not enough pillows for two people. Charging us for parking when we’re paying over $100 for a hotel room for one night seems to be just another way to get extra money out of a person renting a room.

front desk staff was extremely kind and knowledgeable. he was able to answer all of my questions and was very understanding. I’ve had an experience last year with a Kahler employee who was really rude and just not empathetic with Mayo patients. we had to really think hard before we booked it this time around because of our previous experience. we also liked the vicinity to Mayo.

Our room was not properly clean when we arrived. There was a dirty coffee cup with the other cups, and the side table was sticky, Every other day housekeeping was great!

Across the street from Mayo and easy access to the Subway make The Kahler Grand a wonderful option.

There was some miscommunication as to how to make use of the parking I had paid for. At the parking ramp, there is nothing that explains how to use it if you paid at the front desk, so I used my card and would have gotten charged twice, but the staff cleared up for me. Parking was too expensive IMO.
