I love the access to the lake. I go with my kids and it’s such a relaxing experience. My only complaint is the guest smoking walking in front of rooms when there is a strict no smoking in the rooms policy some guests still smoke. Other than that the stay is great the rooms are comfortable and spacious. I also love the security that patrol the area making me feel safe. They also are on top of everything as in the guest smoking outside the rooms policy they address it very fast. I would definitely recommend anyone to visit and stay here it is worth it. Casino hotels are also family friendly. I do not gamble. I am a single mother on a budget and this hotel fits my budget. That is why I stay here. It’s also very clean and meets all my needs for the time I stay in the city.

The beds are very comfortable. The morning staff is super nice. I love the tiny soaps they give and water bottles very convenient.

My only complaint is that a guest checked in right next to me that was smoking in a non smoking room. The smell was coming into my room through the connecting door. I didn’t appreciate that at all, but the staff was helpful, somewhat. The guest continued smoking all throughout the night and walked past my room smoking through out the day. I understand it’s a casino hotel, but the rooms are non smoking and the guest need to be more courteous of other guests staying in the hotel.

Besides the all around atmosphere we love the pioneer because of how everything is separate from eachother .. not just in a casino all the time .. we like to be outside and enjoy walking the boardwalk to get breakfast and go to the casino and bar area .. we also love the rive view rooms during the summer .. the pioneer has a old school but yet really comfortable vibe .. me and my wife also like the fact that we don’t have to walk through a Smokey casino to get to our room.. we stay there Everytime and will continue to stay ther in the future..

The ice machine situation could be better ..need machines on every floor

Room prices and quality

Pizza restaurant was horrible. The wait was too long and the pizza was so greasy we threw it out instead of eating it and we were hungry after driving from New Mexico that day

The room itself was clean, very well lit, and once I fell asleep, I stayed asleep. The beds were so comfortable. The shower was powerful and clean, and the products given to bathe were well above average. I was impressed. Staff was incredibly friendly and fast to help out, any time... day or night. That includes hotel staff as well as everyone inside the casino that I had interacted with. Even simply sitting at a machine or walking around, every staff member of every position would greet me, at the very least. Made me feel welcomed, like they genuinely want their guests to have a positive, pleasant experience. I like the location of the casino and the overall theme of it.

The ice machines seemed to keep having issues, so we would have to wander around to find ones that worked. And, I've been spoiled by other hotels with having mini fridges in the rooms... this hotel doesn't have that. Or at least, our room didn't. It was only slightly inconvenient to not have a fridge and not be able to find ice easily. Not a huge deal breaker. Please don't let this deter you from staying here.

The all you could eat buffet. Had it both Saturday and Sunday. The take home (for sale) cupcakes. Carrot cake was a hit with the family! Ice machine was close to room and working. 2nd night alot more quieter.

The refrigerator in the cabinet in the room didn't work. Maintenance had turned it on but it still didn't work. (Left note in room). Maybe more pillows for the beds. First night, someone was playing a TV really loud all night. And lastly we wish we could have stayed longer, but our teenage straight A's gifted high school student had to be back for school on Monday for finals week. Has not missed a day of school in years!

As original room seemed to have some issue (prior our arrival), we received an upgrade (double room, river side), so its not possible to rate the original room. However, we had a great stay and the room was large and clean. We didnt use the casino but the pizza place inside, definitly to be recommended. We would stay again!

There was a minor resort fee (~9$?) which was not mentioned here, prior booking I think, but compared to other hotels/motels in the surrounding, definitly much lower and fair, so not an issue for us at all

I love that the Pioneer accepts dogs and that the floors are tiled. The bed was comfortable and the air conditioner worked great. I like that I don't have to walk through a huge casino to get to my room and that I can park right outside the door of my room to load and unload my things. The only complaint I have is that the doggy potty area was not kept tidy, and that's primarily the other patrons fault, but I think the staff should go out there once in a while and make sure the poop is all cleaned up, and maybe water it down sometimes. I also liked that very nice poop bags are handy.

We really enjoyed the location of the Pioneer. It's only 3 floors so it is very easy to carry your items up. I usually request a floor room because we travel as a family. (2 adults - 3 kids) And it is easier to carry all their items into the room. Or carry them if they fall asleep. I like that they have access to the Colorado River. However it is a bit rocky but it was still pretty fun for the kids. The rooms are big enough to be comfortable and not trip over each other. Everything looked clean and the beds were comfortable after a long day on the river. They have plenty of parking for cars, boats and jet skis. And finally, coming back late, from the river with tired kids; makes having dinner at the Bumbleberry (restaurant inside the Pioneer) just perfect! We really enjoyed our stay.

The only thing I don't like is that their ice machines are usually out of service or out of ice. However, they sell 7 pound bags if you need it for I believe 4 dollars.

Rate was good.

On my reservation made a note for assessible & close to casino as we are elderly. Lady at front desk put us in room next to Colorado Belle, furthest building. I told her with our room that far I drive my mom to front entrance,front desk lady smiled & said yes!!!!. Had to drive elderly mother to casino door, then 4am had to pick her up at front entrance. I hardly slept that night. Rooms in first building were unoccupied for the night. My rational is that front desk lady doesn't like native Americans!!!!
