The design of the hotel was cool and the rooftop bar had lovely views across the city. Aircon worked well, and you can Chromecast to the TV. The turndown service was very responsive and made our room very clean and tidy each day. The area around the hotel had a good collection of shops and cafes and it didn't take too long to get into town.

Although there was a kitchenette, the hotel did not provide any bowls, plates or washing up liquid/ sponges so it's not really suitable to use for cooking or eating I also don't understand modern hotels obsession with clear doors in the bathroom. As two friends we don't want to see each other using the bathroom or shower so just be mindful if you're the same. The WiFi also logged out quite often and the upstairs restaurant is only open for breakfast on the weekend.

The Penny is my home when I visit my son in Brooklyn.This is about my 5th stay The rooms are comfortable and clean and the staff is great, very kind, helpful, and accommodating. I love the location...very close to McCarren Park and lots of great restaurants. There are a few subway stops available and grocery stores close by. It's very convenient to get into Manhattan and so many things to explore right out the door. I love the coffee in the room and downstairs in the morning too and also the mini fridge. The outdoor space is peaceful and the art is great. Every time I visit there is a new convenience...last time it was a full size fridge in the lobby stocked with drinks and snacks for purchase.

what a great hotel! lovely people, great facilities in the room, quiet, good shower, comfy bed. also the location is amazing, good bars and restaurants nearby. people were complaining about the coffee in the room but besides the fact that there’s complimentary coffee downstairs, if you know how to make it the coffee in your room is actually pretty good. we definitely will be back, don’t hasitate and stay here!

If I have to think of something; we booked a supreme queen because we thought no one would be against the wall. that’s not true; apparently not every supreme queen has a bed that you can walk around, ours was against the wall. that wasn’t that comfortable at night if you don’t want to bother your partner.

Conveniently located near all the best shops and train stops in Williamsburg. The room I booked was the perfect size and spacious enough for 2 with all the essentials ended for a comfortable stay. Love that there was a water refill station right outside our room and directions and info clearly displayed on the cork board when you enter. We arrived early in the morning and didn’t have to wait a crazy long time for our room to be ready. They also have pastries, coffee and water in the lobby and a terrace to sit and enjoy as well.

Bathroom sink area could be a bit bigger with more counter space for my cosmetics (i had to put my bag on the toilet :-/).

Lovely property, exceptionally well-designed room, comfortable (if a tad small, but this is NYC after all). Friendly staff. The pour-over coffee in the room is delicious. Great shower with wonderful water pressure. Excellent stay. Sidenote: Some of the best pizza in NYC is a short walk away.

Can't think of much (most comments would be nitpicks). The only thing I found a bit difficult was keeping the room a consistent temperature.

The rooms are small but perfectly designed. I come to New York for long stays (10-12 days) and enjoy staying at the Penny because it feels like a mini-apartment. I love the little details in the room, such as the artwork, real plants, good books, drip coffee, nice robes, quality toiletries, and cute throw pillows. And the rooftop, it’s incredible!

I generally prefer hotels that have a nice lobby as I enjoy the social experience. The Penny doesn’t have a lobby, but the rooms and incredible rooftop make up for it. My only real complaint is that when I order room service, I expect real plates and silverware, not carry-out containers.

From pre-arrival to check-out, everything flowed smoothly. Email response time was quick, hassle-free check-in and front desk was always available to help. They even organized a car service to JFK. Rooms are cleverly designed to even accommodate a kitchenette, and they have free coffee! Perfect location in Williamsburg close to L and G trains, with plenty of restaurants and bars around. Neighborhood feels safe and quiet. Bonus: rooftop bar! They even have free bike rentals for guests to roam around Brooklyn.

The Penny Hotel had such a unique, artsy, cozy aesthetic. Friendly staff, chic roof top bar/restaurant. It’s hip, it’s centrally located in a nice area close to many restaurants bars and shops.

I would say my only complaint was the shower. The water leaked through the bottom of the shower door into the sink/toilet area. It may have been isolated to just my room. I also was disappointed when house keeping forgot to take out the trash from underneath the kitchenette sink.

Great location, away from the Manhattan hustle and bustle but still one subway stop away. It felt nice to start the day here and come back to a quiet neighborhood. The beds are very comfortable. Nice design. The rooftop restaurant is amazing because of the views.

It can be cleaner - more attention to detail. The bathroom door couldn’t close properly. You can’t open the window at all, which makes it a bit claustrophobic since the rooms are quite small. The refrigerator is too loud. Bathroom towels had holes. It would be great if the rooftop restaurant was open in the mornings, too.

The location is in a nice neighborhood and the ability to park our car in a safe parking garage close by - was convenient. The Penny has a cheerful bright fresh decor. The staff is very friendly and would greet us happily each time we stepped into the lobby. There was fresh coffee and tasty pastries in the morning in the lobby. The rooftop bar was super fun - great decor, super view and friendly service. The fresh guacamole was amazing! Next time we will try to eat dinner at the restaurant. The art thru out the hotel is original and upbeat. The room was lay out was well done. The bed comfortable. It felt like someone really thought about how a guest would use the facilities. It is now our favorite hotel in Williamsburg /Brooklyn. The location is great for walking to restaurants and the waterfront (don’t miss the Domino waterfront park near the Williamsburg bridge. There is a great view of the Williamsburg bridge and the Manhattan skyline!
