We loved the location, close enough to the attractions but on the outskirts of town. It was fairly priced. The beds were comfortable. The room was for the most part clean. The walk in shower was nice and had great water pressure. The room was dark for sleeping, no bright lights outside the windows. We really liked how the office had extra towels and toiletries readily available. They also offered k cups and a Keurig in the office and in the room. Nice restaurant right on the property. $$$ We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again.

The Keurig in the room had not been cleaned. I had to clean it before I could use it. It did work well and it was nice to have k cups. Not sure if the shower curtain was changed between guests. A microwave in the room would have been a plus.

The location is great if you are going to Lake Placid or White Face. Just far enough out to eliminate most of the traffic. The meal at the restaurant, as always, was amazing. The rooms are clean and comfortable. My husband and two kids climbed dix and hough, and two other kids and I played golf and went to Oktoberfest.

The only thing we had a problem with was the soap/shampoo dispenser. We brought our own, because they didn't used to be in the bathroom, and I was pleasantly surprised to see the dispenser. However, once in the shower, I realized that nothing comes out! Maybe an airhole is necessary in the top to get the flow going.

The keypad you would type in to get into your room. All the outlets you had available to use in your room. It was very easy for you to get around to any attractions in Wilmington or even Lake Placid, Keene Valley by car.

Having a micowave maybe in the rooms to heat up your leftover meals or your snacks. They had one in the office you could use if need be. Not having the smokers outside your windows, so you could enjoy the fresh air in the mountains. Also fire pit being used by other guest and your not able to keep the windows opened because of the smoke filling our room in the evening.

The restaurant is really quite excellent... a real Adirondack treasure...food, service, atmosphere are all you could want. The lodging is a bit dated...carpet is best replaced in rooms that allow pets. Nevertheless the suite was very functional and provided three beds for three people. It is really close to Whiteface so Iwill stay here again ...even in the summer as there's an outdoor pool and the grounds back onto the Ausable River. PS Steve the resident handyman was quick and helpful when we had trouble with the lighting.

No complaints really just a wish for newer non carpeted flooring !

The Hungry Trout exceeded our expectations and more! We enjoyed our stay here and the property was amazing. The view of the Ausable River and Whiteface were breath taking and the fire pit was the perfect way to spend our chilly nights there. We loved the restaurant on the property and food was delicious. Our stay was wonderful, we will definitely be staying here again!

The rooms are a little run down, but everything else was perfect!!

It was very close to whiteface Mountain. I was able to hike it. In addition there's a lot of activities to do near the area. Even though everything is a little drive but there's a lot of food choices. Especially there's this ice cream shop about 6 minute drive that is awesome. They only accept cash, though! But it's okay. I highly recommended it.

I liked the location of the motel. It was not too far from Lake Placid or the Adirondack Loj for high peaks hiking. The adjacent road consisted of a beautiful car ride alongside the Ausable River and falls. The facility and rooms were both clean and updated and had a wonderful cabin-like feel. The office had an assortment of games to borrow for added fun. No one was present at check-in, but the guest's last names were posted with the accompanying room number on the TV screen in the office. No keys or cards were needed to enter your room as it was a number pad preprogrammed to the last 4 digits of your phone...NICE! There were 2 pools onsite...a kiddie pool with fountain and the other with a diving board (and a surprisingly 9-foot depth). Both well maintained. A community fire pit was located in back between the motel and river. It was definitely a pet friendly motel with supplied waste removal bags.

No microwaves in the room, but the main office had one for community use. It wasn't bad for us as our room was adjacent, but it might have been more frustrating if we were further away. There was a small fridge/freezer unit in our room which was perfect.

We chose this motor inn for its proximity to Whiteface, where we skied for 2 days, and also for its wonderful restaurant, where we dined the one evening we were there. We were very happy with everything and our meal was delicious.

I really can't think of anything that would be appropriate for the nature of this type of accommodation (i.e., a motor inn v. a hotel, etc.). Perhaps a vending machine with food snacks to go alongside of the one with the drinks would be nice :).

Excellent location near Whiteface in a tiny room (budget double). For four friends on a budget we couldn't have been happier. Like a motel, but with a sophisticated vibe, beautiful scenery, and accomodating staff.

Massive dust bunnies underneath the bed. Wouldn't have noticed if I didn't sleep on the floor which is a fault of my own I suppose.

The location is amazing. Gorgeous views right out the back window. Private entrances. Nice shower! Awesome playground. Near enough to the town of Lake Placid, but just enough apart to truly enjoy the surrounding nature. Truly a great value. Stayed here 20 years ago, and it still was just as lovely. We'll be back much sooner next time.
