The location was spectacular. The beach was clean, and having beach chairs out was helpful. The pools were nice, although the hot tub wasn't working during our stay. The staff was great. The view from our room was stunning.

The building is showing its age and wear. Our room had some minor issues. The knob on the stove was broken off, the half bath sink was clogged, and the furniture had seen better days. The restaurant was meh—very slow service. There are old bikes in the bike rack out front that someone left there years ago, and they're covered in rust. The sad country music piped through the speakers in the front entrance and lobby was very depressing. As a first impression of the place, the music was a turn-off.

The room was cozy and gorgeous with an excellent view of the beach and a balcony. I was traveling with my 93 year-old grandmother, who is unable to climb steps and they had a ramp available for her walker as well as an elevator for her to use, which was very appreciated.

The only thing unpleasant that I experienced about the trip and the stay was on our floor, where the elevator let off there is an area with a walkway that is not fully inside and is exposed to the outside so outside the elevator and outside our room, there were two dead roaches, but I don’t want that too. Reflect the staff or the property because I understand the area was outside.

Everything was very nice. The room was recently redone and it was really nice to have a newer room. We were also on the 9th floor the last room so it was very sunny so that was really nice. When we called that we needed a few things.. towels, toilet paper. House keeping arrived very quickly and cleaned up the room also which was nice.

The room had a king size bed and it was very uncomfortable. Definitely time for a new mattress. My husband and I our backs were killing us. Also the pull out couch you can purchase a thicker mattress you feel the springs right through it.

Room had a great view and the beach is beautiful. Very family friendly. Resort was quiet. Pool wasn’t crowded and beach wasn’t crowded. Parking was no hassle. We were able to sleep 5 people but it was tight. The staff was helpful and friendly and let us change out our wet bath towels for new ones whenever we wanted.

Suit said it was a double queen that would sleep 6. But the beds were more like full size rather than queen. The third bed was a pull out sofa but the room was so small and filled with furniture that it was difficult to open the bed and then to maneuver once it was open. The room was outfitted for one person. There wasn’t enough towels, shampoo, toilet paper and they need to hang more hooks or towel racks so you can hang your towel, your bathing suit and so on—this is a beach after all. Dishes in the kitchen were dirty so I had to wash them before using them. Indoor pool was closed—would have been nice on the rainy days. Restaurant was closed the whole time we were there. The room must have been recently updated but some repairs to the ceiling and walls were poorly done.

Location and amenities, were good. Restaurant food was good and reasonably priced. Room was an efficiency which was unexpected. End unit had a beautiful view of the ocean from two sides (North up beach and ➡️ ➡️ towards Ocean. Front desk was helpful and friendly.

Bathroom fixtures need replacing, Need to modernize with body wash, shampoo and conditioner dispensers rather than individual bottles and bars of soap. Hallways were not clean. Trim work needs to be touched up.

Location is good and views are incredible! The bedroom and the bed always comfy. Love the two bathrooms!

The room we booked has not been kept up as well as the others there that we have stayed in before . The stove stop burner barely come on . The refrigerator froze our eggs . The sliding door is EXTREMELY difficult to lock and the floor tiles were loose in areas . None of which was terrible, but not used to having these difficulties at Shell Island . Some paint was peeling on interior doors .

Great weekend family getaway! Loved the view from the living area and balcony, the marsh view from the bedroom, and the easy access to the beach. Also loved the private location on the end of the beach, walking to the sandbar island at low tide, the aqua blue water, beautiful shells, clean pools…all of it! The hotel is older, not extravagant, could use some upgrades for sure…but well-loved and really all you need. The 2 adjoining bathrooms were a nice surprise and the kitchen and living area were roomy enough for my family with teens to enjoy our space. A broom would’ve been nice…as the sand gets everywhere, but that’s my OCD. We are at the beach, after all. Would’ve loved to have stayed longer. The staff was wonderful! We’ll definitely be back!

Great views from the rooms

Bedroom shutters don’t block the light out completely if you’re in a corner room near the elevators. They need curtains. No sponge for the kitchen. The dishes were definitely just rinsed not exactly washed fully. The restaurant was mediocre - my biscuits from biscuits and gravy were burnt :/ the hot tub is not big enough for the amount of residents that stay - too many kids in the hot tub (definitely didn’t want to go in after them due to sanitary reasons)

I loved the view. I loved sleeping on the fold out couch simply just to open the curtains and wake up to the sun and the amazing view. I love the open concept. The staff was very nice and accomodating. Any need we had they met and did so promptly. I have stayed several times and have already booked another trip!!

I didnt like the fact that the bar is not open on Sunday. Also having a hot tub on the inside as well as the ouside would be nice. Also the hottub on the outside has no jets. Still a wonderful view!

We never get tired of this view. Love watching the pelicans fly by. We also love staying here because you have a kitchen and a separate bedroom with 2 bathrooms which is a bonus. All suites have ocean views and a balcony to enjoy this view.

The restaurant was closed the entire time we were there (Sunday afternoon to Tuesday) so we didn't get to enjoy this. Each suite is very different (we have stayed in 3 different suites). Some are more updated than others and the last one we stayed at was missing essential things in the kitchen (only 1 coffee mug and 1 spoon) but it did have a wine opener which was nice.
