This was a classic small town motel but with some unique aspects. The room was very clean, light and airy. There was new flooring, great light, and a comfortable bed with a lovely quilt on it. The bathroom had thick towels that smelled wonderful. There were complementary toiletries and tea and coffee. And there was a record player, with old albums you could grab in the lobby. We listened to Cole Porter and a variety of classical music. Had a great night’s sleep. Motel is dog friendly and even provides poop bags to keep the place tidy.

Beautiful hotel inside and out for a great value. Incredibly clean rooms with so much character! The story/history of the hotel in the room added to the charm. Comfortable beds and furniture, and everything you need is generously provided; extra comfy blankets, loads of towels and toiletries. Justin and the other staff we met were incredibly kind and welcoming, and provided wonderful service and lots of great information. We will definitely be back!

Leaving.

The room was clean, had plenty of towels and the location was convenient and easy to get to the beach/ brewery from. The record players in each room were a cute touch and we enjoyed listening to 80s records each day. Office staff (one of the owners) was extremely kind, welcoming and helpful. We would stay here again.

The mattress was a little too soft (I know this is a personal preference) and the room wasn't too soundproof (but they had a noise machine to help with that). One suggestion we have is to install a few hooks either in the room or in the bathroom for hanging additional towels or jackets.

Bathroom presented beautifully and thoughtfully. This is always appreciated by travellers who are dusty from a day on the road! Location worked well for those with a car as the town is a little spread out. The beach and brewery were a short 5 minute drive away. Options for dining were given at check in - also appreciated in a town that is new and unknown

We liked everything and appreciated the friendly hospitality we received. We are international travellers and are using a sim card for mobile with some limitations. As an alternative to receiving booking info on arrival via text msg (check out time/wifipassword/room number etc) some accommodations offer a basic printed card (like a business card) with your details filled in. Simple but useful and tidy. :) Just a suggestion for the future if you have more international visitors.

I have stayed dozens of times.....internet and cable are great rooms are clean...lots of towels and wash cloths....kuirig type coffee makers are great to have in rooms with u limited amount available.

One of the people at front desk is particularly rude and tries to act like a tough guy......bearded guy in his 50's or 60's.....i have to take a deep breath when he checks me in....his ego should be addressed, otherwise every single other person associated with the motel is great

I was a bit apprehensive when I saw I had booked a room at a motel instead of a hotel. But my room, although small, was tidy and clean. There was plenty of parking. I also liked the keyless locking system on the room door. The staff was super friendly.

I would have been more pleased if the room had been equipped with an air conditioner and if the bar of soap had been a bit larger. Other than that, I had no complaints.

The room was very clean and comfortable. We really appreciated the white noise machine and the extra blankets we had asked for, but didn't need since the heater worked great. I'm not sure if we needed the noise machine since the location seemed very quiet and 'blocked' from the main road, but it was a nice touch and much appreciated. I will definitely stay with Surf and Sand Inn the next time we visit Pacific City!

Had a wonderful stay! Had some trouble checking in due to delayed flight and lack of phone service, and the staff was so understanding and accommodating! We loved the retro touches, and loved the location! The linens smelled so clean, and we were very comfortable. The only downside was our room smelled a bit mildewy, but with the humidity in the area, we understood and didn’t mind much!

Check in was easy, the proprietess of the property was really nice and super helpful! She even allowed us to borrow the hot water carafe for our room. The room was cute! They’ve upgraded since the last time we stayed here. Very clean and felt more roomy! I love the decor and style. The bed was firm but comfy. I also appreciated the white noise machine on the night table! Everything felt clean and comfortable. Another really nice stay at Surf and Sand!

I don't drink coffee and have learned to bring my own teabags when I travel. But depending on the coffee maker, it can still be a hassle because the coffee residue taints the water for tea. This machine actually worked well after I ran water through it twice. Much better than other places. But i do wish hotels would keep tea drinkers in mind when they provide in room beverage service.
