I'm not easily pleased by hotel rooms, but I have to say that my stay at the Hyatt Centric was exceptional. On the outisde, the building is nothing special. It's crammed into a tight space on a narrow street, and the building front is pretty plain. The lobby is small, oddly laid out, and perhaps a touch pedestrian. Other Center City hotels, at least upon entering, have a lot more pizzazz. In fact, they have fancy flourishes throughout. What the Hyatt has, or at least my room had, is a sophisticated cool. Everything was tasteful but restrained -- wall to wall Scandanavian hardwood floors, concrete ceilings, toned-down wallpaper, thoughtful color scheme, excellent lighting. Toilet, sink, shower were all perfectly functional. HVAC was quiet and responsive. The room overall was extremely clean. A pet peeve of mine, which I often find even at fine hotels, is cracked or smudged bathroom basboard tile. At the Hyatt Centric the tile was flawless -- just a measure of how new and well taken care of the room was. After most hotel stays, I'm tired of it all and happy to be home. For the Philly Hyatt Centric, I can readily imagine going back. (I stayed in a king high floor, which I recommend: possibly less wear and tear, floor to ceiling view toward the south.)

I don''t like background music in the lobby, but that's just me. Room was on the small side but perfect for a couple.

I love the location, the room is laid out very well. The lights by the bed and desk area are good too. I also like the little seating area. I like the little line of hooks, although they are a bit high if you are short.

I would like a bit better lighting, especially a bright overhead. I just think Hyatt need to invest in better mattresses, It just feels too springy...would love a firmer pillow top mattress. The bathroom hooks by the shower make no sense,,,they should have been on the wall by the shower as you open the door. The side they are on is opposite from the door, so you are soaking wet and you need to open the shower door step around the door and reach for a towel...doesn't make sense, unless you change the shower door to open on the other side or just add one hook so you can grab your towel without freezing and getting everything wet! Not functional at all.

We’ve always liked the rooms, the bathrooms, and the views at this hotel. We recently tried the breakfast and found it much improved from the previous poor reviews. The dining room is comfortable and stylish, the staff is very friendly and efficient, and the menu choices are varied and interesting. My wife and I ate light—poached eggs and toast, a yogurt parfait, and coffees—but if we’d been hungrier the breakfast buffet looked very good. It was fully stocked with a lot of choices, several of them entrees from the a la carte menu.

Security could be tighter in the entrance vestibule, which is on the ground floor, one floor below reception.

Modern hotel in a central location.

No restaurant. There was an event on in the bar the evening we arrived and we could not order snacks to eat in the bar, The second evening the bar closed at 21.45! Housekeeping was good, however, why is it that hotels (including this one) insist on tidying towels that have been explicitly left on the rack for reuse. By tidying them it becomes unclear as to which towel belongs to which guest which makes them unusable! Please rethink / allocate different coloured towels to each resident

The location of this hotel was ideal for my needs. It's in a nice area of the city. Everything was within walking distance. The staff was quite helpful and accomodating

There is a parking garage within the same building as the hotel. I looked forward to the convenience of parking in this garage. However, I was informed that I would not be able to park there since my vehicle was too large. A regular pickup truck. Not a monster truck. No modifications to the truck. I was surprised and kind of disappointed. I had to drive around and find another facility that could accommodate my vehicle. That's it, though. Not a big deal to me.

A pleasant surprise in the center of Philadelphia, just a two-minute walk from Rittenhouse Square. The room was cozy and had nice decor, and the parquet floor gave a pleasant atmosphere to the room. The room size was good for a hotel in the heart of the city, with a very comfortable king-size bed and excellent pillows, a very good desk for the laptop to work, and the WiFi speed was perfect. Nice and clean shower room; the toilet was in a separate room. My room was on the 13th floor with a nice view of the south of the city. Excellent fitness center equipped with Threedmils, Ellipticals, and bicycles room service every day, unless you are asking to skip it the staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful

I couldn't watch TV channels on the monitors of Treadmills and elliptical trainers in the fitness center.

Location, overall quality and courteous staff

The bell and front desk staffs when told I had a business emergency and needed business center services, only said they could print something for me but could offer no other assistance. I ended up walking around town for quite some time before I found that the FedEx across the street from the hotel had the services I needed. The staff should know that,

The hotel is excellent! Great location, clean, very nice furniture, wooden floor in the rooms, everything comfortable, attentive stuff, great customer service. I also love the bed and the sheets. I would stay there again if in Philly for sure. Love it! Aa, also great gym👌🏻

I like to have slippers so if the had provided that it would be wonderful. I bought a pair.

The hotel is good in general

I found the air conditioning in my room not good. When it switched on, it was cold and created a lot of draft in the room. Then when it switched off it slowly got stuffy and warm again. So one was either a bit cold or too warm. Most air conditioning is better and just keeps a steady temperature without creating that much draft.

1st time to Philly, easy walking to everything we wanted to see. Staff was fabulous, Tyreek(sp?) bellman? can’t say enough, polite, big smile, friendly, and had us all the way! Great service and friendliness from all we encountered, valet included

BEING WOKEN UP BY DUMPSTERS BEING EMPTIEd 1st night/morning 440 and 610am, 2nd 410 and 540(?) Also, had to put liners in the trash cans ourselves, no biggie-but, also coffee cups ware way to big to fit thee maker supplied. We will not stay again due to the dumpster noise and we cannot recommend staying here due to that. For an average of $362 a night with parking we can find equal or better.
