First off, the location is a perfect 10/10. I stayed in a dorm room with three bunk beds. The bed itself was comfy, with a small but bright enough reading light and two handy little wooden shelves. There are power outlets for plugging in your devices. Each bunk has a curtain all the way around, which really gives you privacy in your own space. It also has two pretty roomy lockers. The staff are super attentive and friendly. The hostel has absolutely everything you could need: towels, soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, earplugs, razors, combs, moisturizer, toilet paper, and even face masks. The kitchen is really well-equipped, and the common room is so cozy. You can access both the rooms and the main door using the same key card. So, all in all, I'm completely satisfied and really happy I chose HighRoad.

I don't think three bathrooms cut it.

I like the place is very clean and the quite hour. The stuffs are very helpful and friendly which make it nice for someone who have never been DC. before.

What I don't like is the bathroom facilities, first is the shower head and the water not powerful enough which make the shower time longer because the water is so slow which can't take a quick shower because is not clean. As we have six people stay in one room which will slow down everyone. I suggest change the shower head. Second, the toilet cannot flush because the hander fall off and I have to fix it in order to flush the toilet. Please permanently fix it. I stay in room 223.

This hostel has both group and individual rooms. I find hostels are a great way to travel because of all of the interesting people you meet from around the world. I was in Washington, DC for the funeral of president Jimmy Carter and there were many other people staying at the hostel for the same reason. Conversations late into the night were fun and meaningful. The Thursday Night free beer happy hour was great. Fun to share a beer with an international room full of guests.

The location and price were the reasons I chose the location, but after going I realized that the great people I met and the clean and inviting group spaces were the true treasure.

I love this place. Nice staff. Interesting international travelers to share meals. Lovely coffee and tea in the lobby. Free happy hour on Thursdays. Great restaurants nearby, ramen, pizza, Ethiopian, Korean, sushi Van Leuwen ice cream etc Convenient for walking and mass transit. I get a private room when I stay here and the private bathroom is renovated and nice! TV in the room. It's a lively area where you will hear jazz in the evening. They have toothbrush, toothpaste, and a few other amenities available free. Extra towels are available on the hall. It's very well designed, the experience feels thoughtful. I stay often for work.

Bus number 90 goes from the bus terminal to the hotel, transportation is very easy, there are many restaurants and cafes, entertainment centers, the hotel is very decent, clean, its facilities are good, all kinds of drinks are free all day, the beds are very comfortable, there were private bathrooms, there are brochures with guides for tourists. The staff was extraordinarily good, especially Rana and Kay, they were very interested in me, their conversations were good, Rana showed me around the hotel and showed how to use the washing machine I thank her very much

My room, while on the small side, had everything I needed and was super clean. The bunk bed and pillow were very comfortable. I was traveling alone so no one was on the top bunk. The shower was great with plenty of hot water. I appreciated that there was a chair in the room and a table. The tea and coffee offered downstairs were also appreciated. The room also had a good TV. Bus service to the hotel/hostel was very good from downtown and runs all night. I came in late from a hockey game and had no problems taking a bus. The hotel is a good value for anyone wishing to stay in DC.

this was the best hostel I have stayed at in the US so far! the staff were amazing so friendly, free toiletries, as many towels as you need, free washing, a lovely kitchen and dining area, the lockers were so big!! the beds had curtains and great storage space under the stairs for bottom bunkers! they even had led lights in the beds which was so nice! such a nice modern clean hostel if I ever come back to dc I will be staying here!!! I wish all hostels were like this!!

Very friendly staff, comfortable rooms and beds, great kitchen, very clean, ensuite bathrooms are very spacious and well planned, the bunk beds are noise free and even the top bed is very comfortable. Climbing the top most bed has steady step ladders which makes it very safe. Free washing is a great add. Spacious refrigerators. Hot beverages included caffeine free tea which i awesome for someone, who doesn't have any caffeinated beverages. There's an Indian veg and vegan restaurant a few minutes away which is very convenient. The bus stop 90/96 to green line and downtown is right outside. It's a very safe place both inside and outside. Good supply of clean towels and toiletries. Kitchen well stocked

The location is far from a subway. But it's accessible by buses right outside the hostel. The transport rules in DC mean that if we swipe the smar card for the bus, followed by a transfer to the train within two hours of boarding the bus, the train is free. Thus there's no additional cost to taking a bus plus train

Very nice hostel/hotel in a lively part of DC, lots of restaurants and other places to eat and socialize around. Beds are very nice, with curtains you can shut completely, and my room had ensuite bathroom, which was nice, I didn't have to look for my keycard to use the toilet at night. Kitchen was very nice too, basically anything you might need for cooking. Staff was nice and helpful, wifi was great. Since the room had just one bathroom, there were other bathrooms outside of rooms you could use if yours was occupied, that was nice. You can get toiletries for free at the lobby, same for tea and coffee. The building is cute.

Unfortunately while the neighbourhood was very nice, it was far from subway (20+ mins walking) and while the bus stop is practically next to the front doors, the buses in DC were horrible (always delayed, sometimes they didn't come at all, etc.), so getting anywhere was a pain. That's a huge disadvantage and a pity, as the place is otherwise basically perfect.

This was my first hostel experience in the US and I can definitely say it exceeded my expectations. HighRoad has amazing location. It has a bus stop right next to the property as well as bike rental service. Also, I liked that they provided very informative brochures for everything that you might need. I personally liked their list of places where to have a breakfast. I felt completely safe, because in addition to card system for entering your unit they have a card system for entering the hostel. Stuff was very nice. They have everything that traveler might need such as shampoos, hand cream, disposable razors, etc. Towels were for free. You have an opportunity to use as many as you need and not only one. I really enjoyed their lounge zone where you can seat at the and of the day, sip your tea (they have a huge variety of it), read the book (they have a huge variety of it too) or play a board game if you're not traveling alone of if you're extravert.
