Sofitel is, as always, unmistakably French. That much holds true wherever you are in the world—but somehow, it feels especially poignant here in Vietnam. Even though it’s been more than 80 years since the end of colonial rule, there are still places where France lingers—not as a shadow, but as a scent in the air. Sofitel Saigon is one of them. The hotel is in excellent condition. The staff are warm, polished, and effortlessly gracious. The service is precise without being stiff. Breakfast is superb. Everything simply works as it should. There’s a certain ease in the experience, as if the hotel understands what you need before you ask.

Still, I’ve stayed at Sofitel in New York—and, truth be told, I had a slightly better experience there. I can’t quite explain why. It may have been the team. There was something in the energy, the attention to detail, the pride in the small things. A sense that every part of the guest experience had been thought through, down to the texture of the linen and the angle of the desk chair. Here in Saigon, this is still France—but softened by time and distance. A dignified, well-run hotel with a gentle heartbeat. Not perfect. But memorable.

The ambience and the location were good.

I had booked a particular size of room but at the time of checkin I was told that the room was not available and that the Hotel upgraded my room. However, the room I received was extremely congested with little space to move around. The ambience wasn’t very appealing since the room was pretty dark and had few dim lights. Additionally, by accident I was locked because my daughter was sleeping and the staff on duty was not too friendly, and were irritated that they had to attend to the issue. At a 5 star hotel it was surprising that the staff needed the guest to go downstairs to replace the key. I don’t plan to go back again to Sofitel in HCM.

Great breakfast and good barista milk coffee. One of the better for us with a sweeth tooth;)

We got a room that had the smell of urine or similar. They cleaned it twice, then it became better, but still a bit left. However, another room would have worked better, and some sort of compensation. However, great and welcoming service. The shops downstairs had no people. Would make more sense to have something else than cigars that more people appreciate:)

Location, hotel brand and the breakfast buffet is the best.

I think the bedrooms need new tv screens which are modern. Feeling a little out dated on the technology.

The husband of my daughter booked this room for us but the hotel didn't charge him before our arrival so the reception staff asked us to pay at check in. It was unexpected because he choose the "pay before arrival" option. Anyway they didn't charge him. The hotel asked him to send a picture of his bank card by email to proceed the payment under his name even they already have his full bank card number. The hotel is very beautiful, the room is very comfortable and the location is perfect but the check-in process wasn't good at all because of this problem. They didn't charge him before our arrival because they noticed that the booking name and the bank card name for the reservation were different...they should have contact us before to clear this situation but they didn't.

The staff was very kind, friendly and always very helpful. The guy who cleaned our room was really good and always smiling.

We got to the hotel very late because our flight was delayed several times and also requested an extra bed for my child at the time we made the booking, and it wasn’t ready when we got to the hotel. We were really tired and had to wait. Also the lighting in the room is not the best.

Great Location and Service The hotel’s location was excellent, making it convenient to explore the area. The breakfast buffet was impressive, offering a wide variety of high-quality options. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We also enjoyed the attached bar, which was both convenient and offered a great atmosphere for drinks.

Our standard room was spacious and comfortable, though the bathroom could benefit from some modernization.

Front desk staff are efficient and accommodating. Hoang Duy provided great customer services. Kim Anh, manager assistant, demonstrated excellent capacity to anticipate guests’ requirements. First class food at the Le Bistro Restaurant, excellent service, friendly and courteous! Hoang Lam, swimming pool manager, is the most helpful and polite staff with excellent command of English. Great stay, will come back soon for sure.

Better choice of music for different settings. No disco music for such a prestigious five-star hotel as Sofitel. Music for restaurant should be more subtle and appropriate for dining… No music at the pool in the morning preferably!

Louis is a very nice person we have ever met, this is the first time we come to VN. We dicided to choose another brand of hotel in VN, but Sofitel in China is the best, so that we chose it, and luckily we were right, thanks for Louis. When we arrived at the hotel, this kind guy assited us alot. He took our lugguages, shown us the way to go to the check-in desk, and he always smiled. After the check-in process, he so us the way to go a mini mart, it's named ministop, cause we asked him. But we don't know how to go there and this was at 1 am, we quite scared. And u belived that, he took us to go there, and we just reconigzed he end his shift at 1 am, but he happy to take us to go there. This guy IS AMAZING!!!.Not only he escorted we go there, but also nice to show us how to choose food. If u go Sofitel just meet him. Thank you Louis. Thanks for giving us the good huge imppression.

Excellent all round experience. Staff were extremely friendly and attentive. We paid a little extra for the executive club experience. It was worth every single penny and more.

Didn’t experience anything I didn’t like. The hotel is not too far from the central area but crossing the busy roads in Ho Chi Minh is an ‘experience’ all of its own!
