Phong Nha Farmstay is totally unique from anywhere we have stayed before. From the moment we arrived, we felt like part of the family. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always eager to help, making our stay feel personal and special. We were lucky to receive a villa upgrade, and it was absolutely beautiful—spacious, comfortable, the hotel offers stunning views of the peaceful countryside. The hotel itself is fascinating, with rich historical ties to the Vietnam War, adding an extra layer of depth to our experience. One of the most memorable aspects was the transportation—riding around in old war vehicles that the hotel provided for free to get us to and from our lovely villa, this added a truly immersive and adventurous touch to exploring the area. Whether it was touring the stunning Phong Nha area or simply relaxing at the Farmstay, every moment was amazing. The staff were 5* anything we needed they did, from getting all our washing done last minute to making us pack lunch for our departure train nothing was any trouble for them. If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind experience with history, comfort, and genuine hospitality, Phong Nha Farmstay is the perfect place. We can’t wait to return! We loved our time at the Farmstay. The three day itinery that was planned for us was perfect and allowed us to explore the area and also have time to relax at home. The restaurant menu had a wide choice of food and drinks, and the staff are all amazing. The owners are always around if you have any questions. Highly recommended.

We didn’t realise our villa was 1km away from the Farmstay. This wasn’t a problem for us as we enjoyed the peace and quiet! However some people may want to be at the actual farm close to the reception and bar/restaurant. The jeep was always available to pick us up and drop us off at the restaurant.

I’ve been living in Vietnam for 5 years and this is easily one of the best places I’ve ever stayed. Everything is extremely well organized making the stay very comfortable. All of the staff were super friendly and informative and helped with any questions or bookings we had. This also made easier by the WhatsApp group. We ate many times at the restaurant and all food and drinks were delicious. The rooms and the surroundings were also stunning and great we could use the facilities at the other accommodation in phòng nhà town. It was my family’s highlight of the trip and I would 100% stay here again.

The communication was great, they reached out to me to book our transportation to the hotel. Once we got there the staff helped us book all the tours we wanted to do, the first one was the phong Nha cave boat tour. Then we came back and our bags were already in the room. The room was spacious and pristine. I got sick the second day but my husband was still able to do the tour we planned. The staff provided anything they could so I could feel better, they even made me a special rice pudding. The staff was amazing. We’re definitely coming back so I can do the Mada Valley Trek. I would recommend this place to anyone that wants to disconnect in a beautiful and serene place with awesome staff and food.

Fantastic friendly staff that could easily swap in and out of English and Vietnamese to suit us perfectly and help organise our activities. The farmstay itself offers surprisingly resort like facilities but without losing its charm as a homestay of sorts and with respect to the local way of life. The location is relatively easy to access from Saigon by plane and a 30 minute taxi and is totally worth it to experience the stunning natural beauty of traditional Vietnamese countryside with the bonus of its many cave systems which are well worth visiting. One bonus is that the caves are state operated and therefore there are no dodgy agents pushing for your business which is a welcome relief from other touristy areas of the country. If you’re a biker then rent yourself one of Ben's XR150s and enjoy some of the best riding outside of the far North. Ben is a great guy and you can see how much his community means to him with his various community based projects and even showing guests around the local village early in the morning. Get to Phong Nha if you can as it still provides many ‘real Vietnam experiences if yesteryear’. Get yourself a bicycle and ride through the rice crops to ‘The pub with cold beer’ with their top class grilled chicken, a swimming pool and of course cold beer to cool you off!

Every member of staff there is absolutely fantastic, from the owners to the receptionists, you feel like family there. So helpful and knowledgeable with many stories to share. Cosy fires every evening, perfect to sit by and enjoy a beer or two, and talk to the other guests or Ben and his family and friends. The food was really tasty, one night they had a special dish of Butter Chicken curry and it was the best meal I’ve had in a while. And their gravy with the pies is 10/10 it’s a must-try. You can really learn about the village from everyone, especially on the free 7am morning walking tour, or on a sunset safari in a jeep for a low fee. Bicycles for free, really nice cycle to attractions such as the duck stop. Scooters available to rent. One shuttle to their other property/main town in the morning 10am and then one back at 16:45 which was helpful, or they will arrange during the day for 100/200. We had a pet gecko in our bathroom the entire stay, we called him Steve, we will miss him dearly.

Bed was not the best

The staff at Phong Nha are exceptional! They were so attentive and helpful. the location is great. They have a number of activities going on each day so that even on rainy days we were not bored. And the food was awesome. Probably the best we’ve had in our two months in VN.

The first night we were there, we were put in a lesser value room than we booked. However, the hotel refunded that night and provided us with other compensation. But if we hadn’t complained I’m not sure we would have been taken care of. Also the bicycles are not in great shape.

Excellent helpful hosts that bend over backwards to help you. They are constantly ‘spinning plates’ so their guests are happy. Nice room. Very quiet apart from the usual cockerels.

Food was surprisingly average and either overpriced or very overpriced but considering room was actually good value this didn’t seem so bad and I expect others would think the food was ok but I wouldn’t say we’re fussy about food. There was nowhere else to eat within walking distance. The place overall and the owners helpfulness easily made up for this.

This was head and shoulders our best hotel experience in Vietnam. We stayed in one of their new ‘villa’s’ boasting exquisite luxury in the middle of a remote village. I loved the hippy chic vibe of the communal areas of the Farmstay and Ben and his family and staff were incredible hosts and could not have done more to enhance our stay. If you like war memorabilia and fascinating war stories, this place also delivers. I only wish we could have stayed longer. This is well worth a visit and I could not recommend more highly. The food’s amazing too!
