Hard to think of a better location with a lake coming right up to the balconies of the rooms .the rooms ( I tried two) were large and airy . The food was really very good and clearly taken seriously by the owner who was there when I stayed and was very friendly which would account for her charming staff. I took a bike and had a day cycling slooaround the surrounding countryside and river . Strongly recommend

There was little not to like !

Me and my wife stayed for 3 nights in a villa. In summary, Phong Nha Lake House Resort is one of the best hotels we have stayed in. - The staff at the front desk, restaurant and house keeping are great. - The room is spacious, clean and comfortable. Bed and pillows are also very comfortable. - The scenery is amazing. It feels like you have your own private lake. - Wifi has good connection speed. - Breakfast is ok. The restaurant offers a good variaty of local and western food. The prices are quite reasonable. - My wife had massage in the spa center on time and she was happy about it. The price of the massage was also reasonable. - The hotel is a bit far from the Phong Nha town. You need to ride a bike, call a taxi or use Grab. The location may be a problem if you are looking for an accomodation in the town. Being by a beautiful lake, the location was just perfect for us.

The only thing that could be better was the hot water in the shower. After a while, the water started to cool down.

Beautiful villas in a stunning setting. Lovely terrace overlooking the water. So peaceful and totally tranquil. Staff are all lovely and offer a wonderful welcome. The lakeside is well maintained and they have kayaks to let you explore. There’s a pontoon to jump off, although the ladder has one high rung so it’s super difficult to get into using the steps. They offer an amazing selection of tours. We did two: a cycle tour to two fun local attractions and a cave tour to Paradise and Dark Cave. Both were exceptional fun and lead by the WONDERFUL Huöng (Sarah).

We had two villas, with outdoor showers. In one of our villas there was no overhead shower, just had a handheld attachment. Also, best to know before you go that the service in the restaurant is erratic. Don’t leave it until you are hungry to go for dinner. You wait ages for food, no one will eat together, and on more than one occasion meals just didn’t arrive. We tried to be relaxed about this but it was annoying for the family members served last.

We stayed in one of the villa’s. Very comfortable and spacious with outdoor 2nd bathroom. Friendly staff. The pool area seems a little limited (we did not make use of it) but it sits on the lake. In the rooms some lights were not working, they fixed it with different colour lighting which did not fit the atmosphere. Some issues with the airco. But other than that I would surely recommend this place. Breakfast options are somewhat limited but good enough and we enjoyed the setting.

Maintenance could be a little better

Apartment itself was great. Very spacious, well equipped. Amazing lake view and great bathroom (with external bathtub). Friendly receptionist, our luggage was taken by golfcart to the apartment :)

Some of the facilities (like pool table) are quite old and needs to be replaced. We had unpleasant situation when the purse left in the restaurant was gone after 10 mins, and no one from the stuff saw anything and we've been told to look for it in our room. (Finally they found it because one of waitress took it to the reception safe). But the situation was quite stressful and unpleasant.

Some of the loveliest staff we’ve met on our travels. Comfy beds. Gorgeous views over the lake. Enjoyed kayaking, swimming, relaxing and decent food. They also arranged a driver to take us to 2 caves, and transfers between Dong Hoi - Phong Nha. You’ll need to take a driver (or rent motorbike) to get into Phong Nha town, but we ended up relaxing at the hotel mostly as it has everything you need. The lake was gorgeous and my family really liked the canoes. It was relaxing and peaceful. The room we stayed in was really nice, you could sit out and look at the lake. Make sure you book a villa, the other rooms are old and need updating (we swapped rooms). The staff were lovely and super helpful. We did a local farm visit which we all loved, my kids got to ride a water buffalo and hang with heaps of ducks and it was supporting the locals which I love.

Breakfast was average

it is unfair for me to review this properly as we stayed for 4 nights over the New Year holidays so it was really manic, so many people. We stayed in a bungalow on the lakeside which was really nice. it had a little balcony to sit and watch the little jumping fish and people kayaking which is free to guests. Theres also bikes free to guests but only for 2 hours and as its quite a way out of town on a very busy road theres not really anywhere to go safely, most used them to get around the large site. The room itself was nice and spacious along with a lovely sized bathroom with an outside shower and bath should you wish to use it (there was an internal shower too) They have lots of different rooms available, the site is very big and spread out. Theres mosquito nets around the bed too. The staff are really helpful even though it was so busy. The room was very clean. They have lots of trips available you can book with them.

the light outside the entrance door - if the neighbour left their entrance light on at night it shone into our room all night - there was some noise from the apartment/dorm rooms behind the bungalows (maybe just because it was so busy and New Year) plus their lights shone into our room too. If you like to be in the middle of the hustle and bustle of a town this is not for you. You are about 15 minutes drive away from the town. No restuarants close by.

Great option to stay in Phong Nha, as most options in town are hostels. Great view of the lake, great food and drinks as well. The hotel also has a spa, which was super convenient especially after 2 long days of trekking. You need to take a taxi to go to town, but the town is quite small and not much going on, so it was nice to stay in this much more quiet area. You can kayak and swim in the lake, which we didn't do as we were too tired, but it looked nice.

There was no special welcome when checking-in and it felt they were short staffed. In every other hotel we stayed at in Vietnam, we were welcomed with cold drinks, snacks, cold towels, which were amazing especially after a long journey. This was one of the nicest (if not the nicest) hotel in the area, so I was expecting a bit of that.

The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff are helpful and kind - they are happy to help. Laundry is by the kilo 80 000VND per kg. The breakfast is a good selection and we enjoyed a few meals there - the mango salad and the chicken salad were delicious!

The hotel is quite a distance from Phone Nha Town (which we were aware of when booking) so you have to organise transport if you want to go there.
