This isn't like a traditional bed and breakfast, but is sooooo much better. You share the huge house with the manager and owner, so they are never far away if you need help, but also not in your way. Michael, the manager is fun and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. Charles, the owner has some great travel stories. There is a full kitchen in case you want to cook Bacon and Eggs, or a full continental. BONUS FILTER COFFEEE, my favourite. I've stayed here three times and will be staying many more. The cleanliness is almost obsessive, the beds and linen fabulous. It is really well located and is very quiet even though it is on a main road. Value for money is fantastic!!!
NOTHING, nothing, nothing, it's perfect!

Huuuuuuuge room, it was like a palace. After the tiny motel room we had the previous night, it was like we were sleeping in an aircraft hangar, only cosier and with better decor. We were last here a few years ago, and Melville House has transitioned to the next generation of management really well. I was a bit terrified of Helen last time, but it was heaps more relaxing this time.
A surprising amount of traffic on the road that runs past the house, but that's not the fault of the management. They've done their best to minimise the noise in the room with blinds, curtains, etc.

I wasnt aware of the facilities available to me I should have read the information more clearly. I was offered Breakfast and tea and coffee from the beautiful kitchen downstairs.
There was nothing I would dislike about this visit. I wish I could have stayed for a week and swam in the pool and relaxed in my beautiful old world style bedroom, which was huge, Had TV and all stations available to me including chrome caasting my steaming channels. The bathroom was beautiful, very spacious and also tea and coffee facilities in my room. It was just lovely and I only had an overnight stay, I will definately visit again and stay longer, It was a work trip this time. Mike the manager was so helpful and gave me all the information I needed. It was like visiting old friends at their home.

I liked being able to stay in nice accommodation with my dog. We were made to feel very welcome, and the facilities were very good. The room was lovely - comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was more than adequate - nice coffee and a good selection of fruit and cereals. I loved the period feel of the house - it's very lovely.
I have a big dog, and the fences aren't secure. The security has been improved a lot, but there was a gaping hole in the fence near the gate to the next door house (on the right hand side of the property, facing the road) which my girl headed straight for. It would be terrific if all the fences were secure, so that dogs can play freely in the lovely back garden.

Our room was very large with a 4 poster bed which was very comfortable & 3+ cupboards & a sofa. The ensuite bathroom was spacious, with a great shower & had a small fridge for drinks etc. There were large windows (that could be opened), with a view over the garden & towards the pool. The cold breakfast was more than adequate. There was a definite Art Deco feel about the house.
It was not clear where to park one's car on arrival. The stairs to our upstairs room were not mentioned when booking which could be a problem for those less abled. Other rooms looked very different, so take care when booking.

We loved the spacious bedroom, comfortable bed, good shower and the large garden is gorgeous. The manager/owner, Mark, is very helpful and considerate and made our visit very pleasant. Brekkie comprises of a variety of cereals, fruit, toast and jam where you help yourself but Mark cleans up after you which was a big plus. It’s served in a pleasant little dining area overlooking the garden. All in all a delightful stay and we’ll certainly be back when we’re in Lismore next.

The fact that Charles the owner recognised the importance of the Art Deco architecture of the building & was continuing to maintain that style impressed us greatly. It was a pleasure to stay there also made possible by the greeting Mike gave us. Very courteous & helpful. The generous breakfast & use of the kitchen was just like being at home. Excellent. The fact that it was pet friendly was the initial reason we booked Melville House & we were not disappointed to find a large lawned garden area for our dog. It was an excellent place to stay & we shall do so again.
Our room was quite small but I presume it was reflected in the price. We did peek into some other rooms & they looked great. We have no complaints at all.

Breakfast was cereal, toast, condiments and fruit. There was an eat in kitchen so didn’t have to eat in our room. The kitchen has an oven, microwave and dishwasher. It is managed by the grandson of the original owners. It is like a guest house with a separate dining room and seating area. Very roomy and quiet. On a very large block of land with gardens, pool and outdoor tables and chairs. Classic antique style furniture adds to the appeal. Would stay here in preference to a Motel. Great for all travellers including family get together. Will not disappoint.
The only thing missing was a hairdryer so bring your own.

Amazing value for the price! The house is charming and in a good location. It was my first time at a B&B and Mike made me feel right at home when I checked in. I stayed in the Southern Cross room and it was spacious with a lovely ensuite and comfy bed. Breakfast was help yourself - toast, cereals, fresh fruit and even plunger coffee. I'd happily stay again.
The room was next to the kitchen so you do hear the other guests at breakfast if you're sleeping in and they're not. Only an issue if you're a light sleeper.

Super clean (10/10), friendly staff, quiet place, good breakfast (bread, butter, jam, cheese, serials, fruits, tea and coffee). There have checked in although I was 30 minutes late. It made my journey safe and stress free.
The toilet was outside the room. It was inconvenient. The room was tiny. I could not get parking within the property as there are only four spots available. Therefore, I have to park on the street. There were plenty of parking space available on street.
