The room was well decorated, large, and comfortable. The staff at reception desk was very friendly. Don't be put off by the shabby exterior and torn Australia flag, the inside is very different and was great.
The breakfast was not great. Possibly the worst coffee I have had in Australia. The food could do with improvement for the price. The eggs seemed fried but came out in a bath of water. The food was slow coming out. With a room that was quite busy the six eggs that came out went very fast. Maybe we had a busy time but the staff didn't seem able to get the food out quick enough. The price was decent in comparison to other local hotels, but on a worldwide scale was very expensive for what was offered.

Our queen room was well appointed, with a desk, bar fridge, tea & coffee, and a reasonable sized ensuite. The bed was very comfy. The shared lounge/library, pool table & chess table were gorgeous. It is a shame we did not have time to make use of these. The breakfast has plentiful. The hotel is close to the shops, bars and restaurants in Katoomba and only a short drive or bus trip to Echo Point.
The water in the shower was not very hot, more lukewarm. Also the coffee at breakfast was drip filter coffee, so as we're coffee snobs we headed to a coffee shop nearby for our post brekkie coffee. Not really an issue, but a pod machine would have been better.

Beautifully restored old hotel. We stayed 3 nights in a newly renovated room with a comfy bed and quiet air-conditioning. Our stay included a hot breakfast buffet, which was excellent. The lady in the breakfast room was very nice and super efficient, she did an amazing job and the work of three staff while still being friendly and helpful.
The still ongoing renovations in the hotel and the very strong paint smell in the hallway and especially in our room were not very pleasant and gave me a headache. Having a free car park was great. However, it was a very steep driveway and sometimes very tight for a big car.

I stayed at this hotel in Katoomba, NSW, during a midweek visit to explore the Blue Mountains, and I had a great experience. The hotel was clean, quiet, and exactly as shown in the photos on the booking website, which I really appreciated. The staff were friendly and welcoming, making the stay even more pleasant. Parking was easy and convenient, which was a big plus for me. Overall, it was the perfect base for hiking and exploring the area without being too far from restaurants. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting the Blue Mountains!
Ceiling Fan was noisy and curtains were slightly shorter than window, if I didn't wake before sunrise it could have been a minor issue.

Our room was absolutely lovely and the bathroom was the nicest bathroom I have ever used! I have been told that our room was very recently renovated so basically brand new. The staff were very helpful and happy. Val who was serving in the dining room was very helpful to me as I am a coeliac and require gluten free food. She gave me freshly cooked bacon and eggs especially for me and offered to cook me gluten free bread in a seperate gluten free toaster. She was also very kind to my young daughter. The games room and library were lovely and we enjoyed a game of chess on the antique chess table. The antique furnishings in a 1930s style were truly lovely.

The staff were really friendly and helpful, and we were even able to check in a few hours early unexpectedly which was amazing. The room we were in was really comfortable and very clean. We didn't have breakfast there so can't comment on that but we were very happy with our stay here. The guesthouse is very convenient and is located just opposite the main train station and very close to restaurants and bus stops for exploring. Highly recommend!
The only thing we didn't love was that our room faced into the inside of the building, so although we had some natural light it was quite dark and didn't feel that private to have the curtains open. However, we didn't really spend that much time in the room was primarily just to sleep as we were out exploring most of the day so this didn't really bother us that much!

The hotel is ideally located close to Katoomba railway station. The bed was very comfortable and the shower good. The room was clean with tea/coffee/milk and kettle. We advised we would be arriving late and received helpful information via booking.com the necessary codes for collecting keys and gaining access. All worked extremely well.
I wasn’t prepared for the extensive renovation work going on inside the property which in the late evening appeared to make the environment quite undesirable. Once the shock was over and a good night sleep had we understood what was going on and the property was being tastefully brought back to life. A lengthy job but ultimately likely to make this the most desirable property in the town. Good job.

Literally around the corner from the Main Street of Katoomba (short hill walk). Being an older 3 level guest house it came with the expected squeaking corridor floorboards and the slow lift. I was truely impressed by a very friendly, helpful receptionist who left her station for a building orientation walk and even helped carry luggage from car to lift.
Very hot summer day/night on our stay and would think a night in winter in front of a fire in one of the many reception rooms would be a perfect getaway.

The Metropole is an older property that has retained its character & charm. We loved the 1930's decor & creaky floor boards. We had an unrenovated room with an ensuite. While it was looking a little tired it was comfortable & clean. The breakfast was tasty & good value. We would stay at the Metropole again.
The Metropole doesn't offer a dinner service for it's guests. As it was bad weather during our stay it would have been nice to eat in rather than have to go out to a restaurant.

The hotel is SO conveniently located. Parking and rear entrance to reception is round the back of the building which was great with a baby and pram. The breakfast was definitely worth getting and I honestly can’t speak highly enough of the staff ( I’m so sorry we forgot to get the name of the lady at reception but she was just so fantastic and warm). We were upgraded to a room with a microwave and sofa since we had a one year old with us and that kind gesture honestly made such a difference to our stay. The bathrooms are so cute, bed is super comfy and the whole building just has the cutest vibes! we were previously lots to the palais down the road but the metropole beats them BY FAR with their customer service and affordability. Cannot recommend enough and will definitely be coming back!
One suggestion I do have is to maybe play some music and have more lighting in the dining room for Brekky as the silence was a bit awkward!
