The Palais Royal is a Katoomba institution that, while historic, has kept up with the modern conveniences a tourist requires. We stayed in the winter and were happy to find a Daikin recycling system in the room, keeping us toasty warm. The rate included a light breakfast, which was enough, including juice, cereal, toast, tea/coffee. A hot breakfast was also available. I was relieved to find easy parking. As it was a cold winters night we walked to the RSL Club for dinner which offered quick service and a varied menu at a reasonable price. The staff were friendly at the Palais and I will make it my mainstay when in Katoomba. The room is big compared to most and really enjoyed having a bath.

Location is excellent, walking distance to the shops and a short drive to Echo Point (28 mins if walking). The property is spotlessly clean, very well maintain even though it's an old building. As there's no restaurant operating in the hotel, therefore there's no noise at the lobby, great for those who wants a peaceful and quite stay. I love the sitting area at the lobby, it's very spacious and comfortable.

There's no toothbrush or shower cap provided, better bring your own. SPA room was locked. We found the kettle in the room has lots of limescale in it, half of the inner wall was very brown, doesn't feel clean to use. We called the reception and they changed a new one for us.

Room comfortable with all our needs for equipment met. The bed was comfortable and the hotel was quiet. Staff were helpful with bags and responding to questions. Location was perfect for walking to the sites of interest. Breakfast was included in the price and safe car parking was provided at no additional cost. The hotel was spotlessly clean.

The inclusive continental breakfast was satisfactory but not what we have been accustomed to in Europe where cheese, meats, pots of yoghurt etc are usually provided alongside cereals, bread for toasting and a wider range of fresh fruit.

Location proximity is very central to the lookouts and restaurants and essential shops. The wifi was quite good, staff were friendly and accommodating, and the room had a good sized bath (shower pressure was good and became hot quickly!). Checkin and check out process was seamless. Appreciated the heater in the room as well as the table by the window, iron and ironing board. Carpark was free with plenty of spots. The area is quite safe also. Very nice neighbourhood with the police station across the road.

Everything was great - will return again. No complaints!! Maybe some guests may prefer room service but there are good restaurants nearby as well as the on site restaurant which is quite good. Also a suitable sized fridge to store goods if you like to bring food back.

Comfortable, clean, staff friendly and helpful, central location great, car park good, family rooms with beds, not bad settees. Breakfast simple but ok for a quick breakfast before a long day exploring. Coffee, tea in room always stocked up.Comfortable lounge areas if you need some space to sit. Water always hot.

Needs a little renovation, shower head broken, although could still shower. There were cracks in the sink. Sometimes cold in the breakfast room. Sauna needs renovation and spa bath out of order. Still marked high as these things were not important to us.

We enjoyed two nights in a renovated king room, all done in quality heritage style. The bed was super comfortable, good airconditioner and shower. Our booking included complimentary breakfast which was like most people would have at home, cereals, breads and spreads with tea, coffee and fruit juices. If you book direct you can skip the continental breakfast and save $15 per person. If you want a hot breakfast it is available for $25. There was easy, ample parking. If you have trouble with stairs be sure to book a room on ground level as there is no lift in this heritage building.

The shower was overhead when standing in the bath and so it is potentially dangerous when stepping out. A grab bar on the wall at the window end of the bath would be very helpful and a good safety improvement.

The Palais Royale is centrally located in Katoomba with ample parking and is also close to the railway station. Our room on the first floor was quiet and the king size bed comfortable. The large bathroom was clean although not everyone could manage a shower over a roll top bath. The choices at the continental breakfast were adequate. Breakfast is included in the price of the room.

This is a heritage building and has no lift to the rooms on the upper floor or to the restaurant on the lower ground floor.

Staff are friendly and very accommodating to needs of guests. I asked for a room away from the loud creaky staircase and they sorted it out. The room is pleasant, perhaps a little cozy. The location is probably the best in Katoomba if you want a central location in town with private parking. You can walk the main stretch of shops and restaurants quite easily and the 3 Sisters lookout is also nearby.

A bit lacking with attention to detail. Showerhead was broken, could not adjust the spray and kept falling down. TV remote did not work. Beds were not as comfortable as they were on my last stay. Expected a bit more for the price. Hard to decide if the room had vintage charm or just getting a bit old.

Location at the top end of Katoomba Street, was great and we were able to walk to shopping and dining options. Service from the staff, especially Michelle, was excellent. Room was very clean and everything was in working order. Plenty of old world charm and it was very pleasant to relax in a comfortable armchair with a coffee or a port in the warm lounge area at the end of the day.

Room was smaller than expected but adequate. Bed was a little firm but we slept well. Unfortunately in-house restaurant was not operating for dinner but there are plenty of options nearby. Any negatives were not such that we would not be happy to stay here again.

Lovely old guest house style property with friendly staff and a great location for exploring Katoomba and surrounds. Our room was large and quiet. The facilities are older, but are clean and functional. The building is over 100 years old, and it retains the charm and feel of an older building. We stayed for 4 nights, and all the staff members we encountered were happy,friendly, and helpful. We enjoyed our stay and would choose the Palais Royale again.
