I proposed to my partner before our stay here and it was such a romantic, cosy place to spend the evening! It feels like somewhere out of a fairytale. So much charm and character, and the rooms were nice and toasty even though it was a freezing night. The food was also incredible, we got the pasta and pizza and also got the pavlova which was delicious. All the staff were so friendly and helpful! Amazing value for money.
I loved it all! As it is a heritage building it might have a bit of wear and tear but I fully believe it adds to the character of the place. Truely a hidden gem in my opinion and great price point for a weekend away in the highlands.

So much character! It’s old, so it has some quirks, but it has so much charm and personality, you forgive any foibles it has. Bed was so comfortable with quality linen. Some bathrooms need updating, but we had a room with a refurbished ensuite. Great shower pressure and temperature. We were there during July when they have the hotel decorated for Christmas and it’s just delightful! The bar area is so cosy and comfortable. Lots of polished wood and stained glass. Staff work so hard to accommodate people and always have a smile.
The breakfast had a good variety but the hot food wasn’t very hot so by the time you sat down it was lukewarm. There was only one coffee machine too. But for only $20, it was still good value for hotel breakfast. Some guest rooms need updating, as do the shared bathrooms, but they’re clean and well maintained for their age. Although the hotel isn’t in the centre of Robertson, it’s a comfortable 15 minute flat, paved walk into town.

What a wonderful place to stay! Exceptionally beautiful old building, in the middle of rainforest, and so close to so many places to visit. I arrived just as the rains started and was greeted by welcoming and friendly staff, roaring fires and beautifully clean room that was perfect for a short stay. The bed was super comfortable, the heating adjustable in the room, and the little sink was great for teeth cleaning. The tea area in the hall was well stocked and maintained, and a lovely bonus after a long drive. Dinner was very good and the staff throughout my stay were exceptionally helpful and thoughtful. I am so glad I stumbled across this hotel, and I look forward to visiting again. I even met other guests at dinner and talked for an hour or more about our lives and about the hotel and its history. I highly recommend this excellent-value place to stay.
The water pressure in the shared bathroom is a little lacking. The shower was sufficient, but not my favourite part of the stay. The shared bathroom is beautiful and kept very clean though, and the very large shower cubicles were a delight to dress in.

Loved the 19th century flair and the open fire place. We also had dinner and it was delicious. The best part about our room was that it has central heating. We got great recommendations for day trips from reception, great cocktails in the early evening and enjoyed our weekend away.
The room, while big, seemed pretty bare and a bit dated. There was no wardrobe, no bar/tea in the room (only shared in the hallway), no suitcase stand, no hair dryer, the TV was on the side wall, not opposite the bed, the bathroom war smelly until we poured water into the drain, the mirror was black around the edges, the need extremely creaky and the mattress uncomfortable. There were no extra blankets. It just seemed as the hotel was more focused on entertainment than on guest rooms, which may well be enough for most people.

Spacious room, newly decorated bathroom, gorgeous decor in the room, comfy doonas, onsite parking, friendly staff, open fires. This hotel is an experience, and we found it very pleasant. Floorboards creaked, but everyone settled down by about 10.30 so there was no disturbance through the night.
Ample tea & coffee facilities, but would have appreciated fresh milk. Breakfast is probably lovely, but too pricey for us, however dinner is reasonably priced.

Great ambience in a lovely historic building. Log fires are great, but the smoke should not affect air quality upstairs.
The smoke is a health hazard and needs to be investigated. Great ambience downstairs but upstairs we had to keep window open at night and it was about 4 degrees. Staff members response to smoke was poor, stating that "its like that sometimes". Appreciate the efforts to restore the building to its former glory.

Old fashioned hospitality in a grand historic property. Staff were lovely, even though hotel was not very full staff made sure to light all fires and make every guest feel welcomed. The dining and sitting areas are grand and a sight to take in. There are all presented beautifully.
Property is quite ‘rustic’ with many original un renovated features- but this did not bother us, we think it added to the beautiful old world charm, given the reasonable Price and the service we would definitely return.

The staff were friendly and welcoming. We ended up having chats to almost all staff we interacted with. There is so much to see and read about in the hotel from the little reading areas to the gardens, you could easily spend your entire day at only the hotel. The rooms were comfortable and enjoyable with space elsewhere to get away if you need time alone. The breakfast was excellent and the dinner menu was wonderful with only a short walk in to the town of Roberston.
The rooms don't have air conditioning but when we requested a standing fan it was immediately provided. I have seen some reviews complaining about the lack of air conditioning. You need to be aware that the building was built in 1924, it is a historical building and you're staying for the experience. If you can't tolerate heat, plan to stay in a cooler month. The shared bathrooms were interesting. Again, it's the experience of being in a historical building and it's good value for money to opt for a shared bathroom room. However, for our next stay, we will pay more for the bathroom.

I was checked in by annella and she was such a joy. She was so helpful each evening of my stay, booking breakfast at moonacres (which is a fantastic deal for breakfast), supplying plates and cutlery for my dinner, and lovely to chat to. You have a real treasure in annella. My room was large and the bed was so comfy. I absolutely loved the fire in the sitting room. It was so quiet and lovely to sit in there and read. I had a delightful stay. The tea making facilities on the first floor was fantastic as well.
I think a water cooler with the tea making facilities would be a good addition

I stayed mid week, which was a pretty quiet time for Robertson. The staff were extremely pleasant, helpful and accommodating. If you enjoy heritage buildings, then you will be charmed by the character of this building and it's spaces. It retains a lot of it's original features throughout and despite it's grandeur, still has a cosy feel to it, particularly the sitting room. I half expected to see Poirot propped against the fire place, sipping on a brandy! I stayed in a room with it's own ensuite and found it to be in fair condition, cleaned and practical to use. Importantly, the hot water was hot and plentiful! There was a radiator in the room for the cooler months, but wasn't needed for my stay. There is no fridge or tea/coffee making facilities in your room, but each floor has it's own communal lounge area for guests to use as they step off the grand staircase and there are shared tea/coffee facility located here on each floor. I found it was a great spot to base myself for sightseeing in the area, and it was a much more budget friendly accommodation option compared to staying in Kangaroo Valley. The Robertson is only 30 minutes down the road and closer to a lot of the natural attractions eg Belmore Falls, Fitzroy Falls.
I had a quick look at the communal bathroom and the one I saw does look in need of some TLC in the near future. Not 100% sure I would be a fan if that was my selected option during my stay. No A/C in the room, but the building was designed to be comfortable in the 1920's when A/C didn't really exist, so I suspect it might stay relatively cool in summer? Unfortunately the hotel is located a little way out of town (1.2km). If you are feeling fit, you can walk to town in about 15 minutes, but otherwise you will be driving to/from Robertson town centre for any needs.
