Super spacious and very clean accommodations. Great sized bathroom. Loved having a kitchen. We have a PHEV (plug-in hybrid). Having the charging stations was very handy and a pleasant surprise. Great staff. Very nice sized balcony. While not walking distance into town, the location was only a few mins away.

Lack of storage space for clothes. A chest of drawers in the bedroom would be super helpful as well as, more hanging space. The only hanging and shelf space was near the bathroom on the other side of the apartment. The sofa was not very comfortable. Very hard cushions.

Fantastic stay for my family. The apartment was modern, spacious and clean. We loved the dungeon and the breakfast was nice. Early check in was a bonus.

Some negatives - the marble shower floor was super slippery and my 2 year old slipped and fell backwards. Thankfully, his reflexes kept his head up otherwise it would’ve been a bad injury. I did look for a shower mat beforehand. Secondly, the dogs at the reception barked as soon as we walked into the reception. It’s quite scary as a mother of 2 young children not knowing whether a dog is friendly or going to bite. It’s also just a not very pleasant welcome for any guest to have barking dogs at their feet! Lastly, all pillows felt the same size and none were flat enough for me so unfortunately slept without one. Overall, I would stay here again and I have already recommended it to someone.

Charming, lovely gardens. Lovely, very helpful staff. Excellent, spacious room.

The breakfast: The hotel was full as there was a wedding on, and the guests flattened most of the continental breakfast by the time we got there (30mins before it ended). It wasn’t replenished. There was gluten-free bread on day 1 (yay, thank you!), but not on Days 2 or 3. Only 1 egg left on Day 1, none on days 2 or 3. But the fruit (what was left of it) was very nice. We had the room with huge disability-friendly shower. Unfortunately the accessibility part meant the entire bathroom floor flooded whenever we used the shower - made the floor slippery and dangerous.

A beautifully preserved property with an incredible colourful history. The gardens are beautiful to relax in and provide a lot of space for children. The rooms were very spacious and clean and the breakfast was much better/ more than a standard continental. Don't miss out on the historical walking tour. Great location and would come back again.

Nothing! However Booking.com mentioned that there was only a fridge available and not a microwave. It would have been good if we had known there would be a microwave as well (as e would have brought our own food from home to re-heat).

As soon as we entered the driveway of this beautiful historic property the stress of our long drive fade away. This was a guest house & we felt very welcome. Our host greeted us with enthusiasm, showed us to our room & outlined the property’s facilities. Our room overlooked the garden. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was a bonus. The history of the property was fascinating & the self guided tour a great idea.

The configuration of the room was not user friendly. The sink & the kettle/fridge were on opposite sides of the room. The shower faced directly into the room & the carpet there was mouldy. We could not get the tv to work. Allowing for the age of the property, the mouldy smell in the atrium area was off putting.

Loved the old original building where we had our room and the gardens. Lots of history with authentic finishes and furnishings. Included breakfast was great. Room and bathroom were spacious. Bed was comfy. Loved the curated self guided history tour - nice touch. The cellar was a standout bonus with wonderful stories to explain the various spaces and their uses. The other accommodation on the property looked to be very well appointed.

The positioning of reception was not ideal for guests with reduced mobility as it was up the original 3 front steps of the building with no handrail - which is to be expected for a historic building. Would have preferred that reception was located close to the rear walkway into the conservatory.

Beautiful grounds, atmospheric old property full of history with excellent leaflet for self guided tour. A fabulous breakfast with an amazing array of fruit - and as a bonus hot cross buns! Always welcome, even in January. Very friendly and obliging hosts. Also, (not for everyone), but I loved the sound of the trains at night! Very therapeutic as you fall asleep!

We were in the loft, so we knew it would be small and accessed by steep steps and with sloping ceiling. They have made the best of a difficult space, but It would be good if the room arrangement could be re- configured in some way. The tea/coffee station is under the sloping ceiling and very, very difficult to access without knocking yourself out! Also the bathroom floor needs a really, really good scrub!

I was greeted in a friendly manner very welcoming only to happy to help with my bags and show me to my room. On exploring the main house it was so charming with all the sitting rooms which would be great in winter with the fire places in operation. Having a lovely pool table for those inclined was a bonus. The fact that it was no issue for myself to have my little dog with me was why I chose this property. She was very welcomed and accommodated as well. Above all the history of this property is worth a visit.

The only thing I can state is that on my stay I had elephants with insomnia above me.

Fitzroy Inn is the perfect place to stay when visiting the Southern Highlands. It’s a beautiful property with lots of history. The pictures do not do it justice! We loved the different lounge areas and being able to finish the night by the fire. We were in the attic room which was nice and large. The heater kept it very warm! The breakfast was just continental, a warm breakfast in winter would make this 10/10. We walked into town for dinner which was about a 20 minute walk. Would recommend and would happily stay again!

Amazing historical property, with a brilliant internal historical walk exploring the public rooms, cellars and grounds. John is a wonderful host - warm and welcoming. A delightful serve-yourself continental breakfast is provided, with a grain loaf that was the freshest bread I’ve ever enjoyed in a hotel anywhere in the world. It was surely still hot when collected that morning. Yum. Bed was comfortable, my room (Room 4) was a quirky big attic room. I liked it.

The conditioner in my shower was kind of curdled, and ‘burst’ when I squeezed it, pushing the lid out and ending up in a blob on the shower floor. Yes, I know - it’s a first-world problem. It didn’t spoil my stay.
