Very friendly and helpful at reception, Tommy was awesome. Excellent instructions as arriving after hours. Room was clean and great wee kitchenette. Good location, train station about 10 min walk. Walk to town about 30mins and does have incline and declines.

The stairs would be hard for some people and bringing a heavy suitcase upstairs isn't for everyone. Found the mattress abit hard, my back feels it but apart from those two things everything else was great

The hotel has been newly renovated so it was absolutely beautiful. Every room is eclectically decorated right down to the finest and most sensational detail. The wallpaper, carpet, beds, linen, EVERYTHING was outstanding. It was the perfect temperature, obviously double-glazed windows because it was completely peaceful once windows were sealed; water pressure was perfect; Aesop hair and body products were a delightful surprise; the Dyson hairdryers took it up a notch. The communal courtyard was stunning; as was the beautiful coffees/teas, filtered chilled water, and choc-tops available whenever you wish, as well as a beautiful fruit bowl filled with bananas and crisp and fresh apples. The whole experience at this boutique hotel was absolutely beyond expectation, and the staff couldn't do enough to accommodate whatever wishes we had - whether it was offering to chill our alcohol (for an event we were holding externally), and organising the airport shuttle (which was half the cost of a taxi!). Oh, and we stayed when Sydney was inundated with torrential rain so umbrellas were offered complimentary. We can only imagine that the Medusa Hotel would be even MORE sensational if the weather was lovely, to fully take advantage of the retractable roof in the courtyard. We will DEFINITELY be booking again - every time we come to Sydney.

Nothing. There was absolutely NOTHING to fault about this property, the service, the location, the comfort - it all exceeded our expectations. In fact, in my whole lifetime, I can count on one hand of the times I have experienced accommodation that has exceeded expectations, and this would have to be one of the best! Well done to Tommy who has obviously put an incredible amount of energy, creativity and care into the hotel's resurrection. Congratulations!

The entire hotel from the moment you walk in the beautiful large entrance door, to the courtyard and into your bedroom - just feels so Grand! The finishes are perfect, the attention to detail in every part of the room and throughout is clearly well thought out. Staff were so lovely and just the right amount of helpful and not in your face. It was so easy to book, check in & check out. All the need to know’s were printed and so easy to understand. Easy, keyless entry using the numbered keypad on the door meaning you didn’t have to share a room key with anyone you could come and go as you pleased. Overall was an amazing stay in such a lush feeling hotel.

I was blown away by this hotel. Unexpected in the best way. In a fabulous central location, the decor is stylish and fun, a delightful atmosphere added to by the beautful open courtyard. The staff are beyond helpful and welcoming. It felt like a family rather than a hotel. I couldn't recommend this hotel more highly! I'll certainly be back.

There's not really anything I think could be better. There are stairs, it is built in a terrace house, but someone always around to help with bags etc. My room was small but so well designed that it didn't matter.

Loved the location: very nice breakfastbars in the neighbourhood, a 20 min walk from the woolloomoolo wharf. The staff was super friendly, we could leave our luggage on the last day at the reception, before taking the plane. We had 2 different rooms during the holiday (we returned at the end of our holiday): both rooms were nice and cosy, i preferred one room (supreme room) which had a little terrace. The rooms are well kept, i have seen during our holiday in Australia a lot of shagginess, but not in the Medusa hotel. In check, out check and keysystem is very swift. Wifi in the room is stable and strong. However the hotel is lying at the streetside: i did not have any rumor or noise from the street (when windows are closed). I love the choice they made concerning the soap in the bathroom: made in australia and superb quality.

The staff is friendly but changes much: the person you talk too in the morning is not the same in the evening. There was no communication between the two persons to resolve a little problem i had in the room (smart tv could not receive internet). I saw the more little rooms : they are very little and prammed. So if you go to the Medusa, it is a suggestion to take a larger room, it is worth the price.

This hotel was such a great experience from start to finish. I booked simply because I could take my pooch there and its a great part of Darlinghurst, close to cafes, buses and fab restaurants. What I experienced was like 1000 times icing on the cake. The staff spoilt my dog rotten with hugs and kisses whilst ensuring I was completely welcomed and cared for. There were extra towels, carting my heavy luggage, nothing was too much trouble. I was upgraded to a beautiful spacious room which looked onto a quaint European type sunny courtyard. I saw one of the other smaller hotel rooms, yes they are on the small side but with its own private bathroom I thought was great value for money given its a four star boutique hotel right near Sydney central! Ive stayed in Sydney hostels and this offering was much better. I recommend this hotel to everyone wanting a warm charming place to stay close to cosmopolitan Darlinghurst / Potts Point / Oxford Street.

It was in a great location close to shops, train and Australian Museum and walking distance to the Art Gallery of NSW and the city. The room was really comfortable and a bit quirky with a fridge, microwave and all you needed to eat and drink there. Staff were really helpful and good fun and it was very quiet too. Very near cafes and restaurants. Will definitely stay here again.

Loved our stay at Medusa Hotel Sydney! The room was spacious and well designed, the amenities (mini bar, soaps & shampoos) were high end, and the location was great for nearby cafes, bars, thrift shops, and a scenic walk to the botanical gardens and opera house. We had to check in a little later in the evening--after my plane touched down in Sydney, I was pleased to receive a text with all the information I needed to get into our room after hours.

We had to carry our luggage up a flight and a half of stairs. After a long day of travel, this was no fun, but we also knew we booked a boutique hotel in an older building! Definitely wouldn't deter me from staying again or recommending the hotel to others, but some people would need to know this prior to booking.

This is our second time staying here this year and we would definitely stay again. We stayed in two different rooms over the two nights. We loved 212 more than 214 even though it was bigger. It’s a quiet hotel and really personal and each room is unique. The staff are all so lovely, especially Jesse, who I think may actually be part of the reason we loved staying here! It’s close to bars and restaurants and transport but is also quiet. There’s a microwave and fridge and air con and everything you could ever need.
