Welcome hand made chocolate, handwritten welcome note, very nice communal lounge and library area where a breakfast of juice/tea and coffee/ muesli clusters/berry and yoghurt compote/ croissant plain and chocolate/big chunky cookies/handmade muesli bars/apples available, very comfy beds, warm doona, lovely pillows, fluffy big towels and face washers, very clean, fridge, luxurious tea bags and pod coffee (boiling hot and cold water available on your floor level), very helpful staff in the bistro and accomodation. Loved the photographs on the corridor walls. The bistro and bar downstairs was a great place to relax. Rooftop bar wasn’t open for my stay.

Perhaps the table under the TV could be replaced with something with drawers as there is no wardrobe or hangers except for 2 hooks. And if the top of this was table/drawer was wider you could open your suitcase on there and leave it there to easily access your clothes. I must stress that the actual room and bathroom was extremely clean however the walls not being freshly painted gave the room an “unclean” look. Not sure why the aircon was on full blast on arrival in the room.

Fabulous staff - Really fun and welcoming. Had dinner in the pub, and the food was good quality, anbd service was great. The stylish appointments with decor made this once grubby old pub really lovely. I was so impressed by the private lounge/library for guests with complimentary pod coffee, and water in cute jars. Very stylish and practical for business travellers.

The bathroom floor edges were a bit grungey, and the walls in my room looked well loved, shall we say. But, these factors did not impact me in any negative way. It has so much character. I really enjoyed my stay.

A lovely hotel in a good location. The breakfast bar in the guest lounge was a nice touch in the morning. My room had a small balcony which is a huge bonus to someone like myself who lives in a forest and appreciates being able to open a window. Too many hotels these days keep their guests sealed in a box.

Water the plants! In the three days that I watered the plants on my balcony, there was a noticeable improvement. It doesn't take much effort, improves the street scape, and shows you care.

I really enjoyed my stay at The Strand in the Petite Room. It was exactly what I was after which was a decently priced room with a private ensuite in a central location via public transport. The bed and bathroom were very clean and there was a nice charm to the interior styling of the room with black rattan furniture. We didn't end up going to the rooftop bar but would love to see it next time. The soundproofing seems to be good between hotel rooms since I couldn't hear anything, except for people in the hallway which is expected.

The bed and pillow weren't that comfy for me but it's a personal preference that I like thick semi-firm mattresses.

I LOVED the renovation that was done. The history of Burlesque and the library which I just sat in and adored and had really nice cups of earl grey tea quietly and looked at books etc. It was funny because I thought it had a lift but it didn't and I didn't ask which didn't help. I got there and one of the bar staff carried up my suitcase to the second floor. The room was small and I loved it. The bed was unbelievably comfy, the bathroom new and funky in a type of black and white vintage. The air conditioner was great. It suited me nicely. The food was divine. I had vegetarian which can be wobbly but it wasn't. There was a loud group of blokes in the bar and they were calmed down. The whole place is alive and fun. I slept really well and one of the cleaners carried my suitcase down 2 flights. I was having a knee operation the next day, a full knee reconstruction so I really couldn't carry anything. I will happily return to such a unique place. If you are coming from the train station or bus, you'll have to cross the road once the taxi or uber drops you off. I'll certainly return if they can bear to help with the suitcase again :)) It's quintessential Sydney for the travellers. It's the Best of Sydney originality.

No lift but I didn't ask to be fair.

Location is fantastic, all the main attractions are within walking distance. Staff were all friendly, courteous and helpful. Room was small but comfortable and clean. Large fluffy bath towels a real treat! Complimentary wine in the evening and a light continental breakfast provided for all. Has to be great value for money and by booking very early I got an amazing deal on price of around 50% off the normal rate.

Can be a bit noisy at times with the road and the rooftop bar, but has to be expected in any city centre location and didn't bother me.

Great locations, excellent amenities, clean, cosy, comfortable. It’s a pub so it has life at the rooftop bar and downstairs pub but they also find a way to bring moments of peace with the library.

It’s all quite lovely and what I was expecting. One thing I thought was hilarious was the window would vibrate when someone on the rooftop cackled with laughter or there was a motorbike waiting at the lights. I couldn’t quite find the right open/closed position to make it stop, but I enjoyed the humour of it all.

Location was great, room was a good size. The staff for the most part were lovely. Would stay here again.

Bit of a pain to check in/out as the staff didn't were nowhere to be seen. Very noisy- since they can provide complimentary chocolate, should also provide ear plugs. Especially as patrons of the rooftop bar were standing in the stairwell screeching on both nights of my stay.

Excellent staff who allowed me to check in 2 hours early. They were very helpful and friendly and knew a lot about the hotel and the location. When I first entered the room, I saw a personalized note welcoming me and free chocolates made on-site. A superb start! The room had a fridge and its own private Nespresso machine with milk and coffee pods free of charge. Room also came with a small water caraf you could fill with filtered water down the hall and keep in your room, which I found very handy. Breakfast was included in the reservation and featured baked goods also made on site.

I was in a room facing Williams St, which is EXTREMELY busy. When I first entered the room, the road noise was so loud I thought a window was open, but that unfortunately wasn’t the case. It quieted down a bit at night. Additionally, there are no elevators for the 3 story building. Staff kindly carried my heavy luggage up and down the narrow stairs for me.

It was historic, clean good location. The house keeping staff and bar tender were happy friendly and cared about her job and made me feel comfortable and welcome

I wouldn’t say I didn’t like was a little disappointed that when I came down for breakfast they was no clean coffee cups no yogurt left and no milk so I settled for some fresh fruit a beautiful protein bar and went back to my room to make a coffee but as I said maybe it was just a busy time I arrived and really didn’t impact my stay at all
