we arrived late on Saturday night, the very friendly staff greeted us and showed us to our room, the room was exactly like the photos CLEAN and so cute. After a quick drink in the bar upstairs for a shower and off to bed, the shared bathrooms were absolutely spotless, and the shampoo conditioner and body wash great quality. We stayed for a week often eating in the restaurant, the meals were always more than we could eat, exception quality .....good pub grub. All in all our 6 nights were well worth the money, will definitely stay again.
the coffee and tea station only had plunger coffee an option of just some instant coffee would be appreciated. The light in the hall comes through the window above the door and is a bit bright when you come from the bush and are used to DARK. The noise from the entertainment in the bar is quite loud upstairs but we packed ear plugs as we were aware there would be extra noise we are not used to.

The location is great! It is a short walk into the main city part with all of the shops, there is a supermarket really close by, and the train station is very close too. The staff were really friendly and listened to all of our needs. The room exceeded our expectations, the photos they have posted made it look outdated, but the bedding is much more modern and the room itself is bigger than I expected. The only downsides are that the showers are not the cleanest, and it does get very noisy at night with cars and people going by. Overall we had a very good experience, very good value for money, and we would come and stay here again.

Easy to access the city and various train/ bus stations are nearby. There’s a wool worths nearby here too so we could buy food in the night coming back from activities. There’s 3 shared bathrooms two with showers. It wasn’t noisy at all for us during our stay and there was a live jazz band performance in the pub down stairs that we enjoyed. Staff are super friendly and recommended activities/ helped us when needed. For the price and the place no complaints.

Honestly would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in Sydney. The location is amazing, a walk across the botanical gardens to get to the harbour. Our room was a really good size and the bathrooms were really clean. There was three toilets and we never once came across other guests or had to wait to use facilities. We ate at the restaurant downstairs a few nights too and the food was incredible. It was super quiet we never heard any street noise. Also we were able to store luggage on both arrival and departure days which was a massive bonus too

The hotel was clean and well kept. It is an old building with a lot of charm and history. The room was spacious and comfortable. The washrooms are shared but on the floor there were 3 independent washrooms for just a handful of rooms so one was always accessible and free. The washrooms were very clean and well maintained. As a plus, the hotel is in a good location. You are in walking distance from the Sydney Opera House and to downtown. The hotel is also in walking distance from a train station.
Nothing. I had an excellent stay and I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Unless you really want your own, in-room bathroom this hotel ticks all the boxes. Good value for money, good facilities and good location

Fantastic location, Superb budget accommodation! Incredibly friendly staff - family run, and Sam was so lovely to deal with. Loved the oldie, antique hotel setup. Even had coffee plungers to use. We had mucked up our arrival booking and Sam incorporated what we needed at no extra charge - he was a gem! Brilliant customer service - thankyou!! Highly recommend.
It would have been ideal if we had a sink in our room - but it was no problem that we didn't. On the top floor it would be ideal to access the jug in the foyer area like the floor below.

A small and friendly hotel, full of character with great staff. Sam the manager made me feel very welcome, and it was a good place to eat and drink in the evening.
The shared bathrooms could be noisy if guests were moving around in the night.

We liked that the staff were very friendly, it was a great place to eat and drink, the room was quite spacious, the location was excellent and the bathroom was good, especially the shower pressure. And it was very good value for money.
We didn’t like the fact that the room didn’t have a fan. We didn’t use the Aircon as it was a bit noisy. The Street noise was a bit excessive but nothing that earplugs didn’t solve. We didn’t like the 42 steps to our room but we knew there were going to be stairs.

Pantry and bathrooms have fair service and replenishment of items. Occasionally ran out sugar or shampoo during higher number of occupants on certain days. Love the response of staffs and Sam has been proactive and thoughtful in offering storage of luggage on last day of my stay. I really felt that the hotel is trying their best to be hospitable in many ways possible. Had a wonderful stay and definitely will recommend to friends who likes to visit Cathedral, Museums, Royal.Botanical Park, Hyde Barrack etc.....all walking distances.
Window of room 9 won't close properly and luckily it is not winter yet. There was one day where storm hit Sydney and rained whole day. After which, seen some coakroaches in the room which I didn't notice before the rain. The mini bar was not very cold but just cool.

Great location in an inner city neighbourhood, antique furniture and cosy vibe
We have stayed here many times over the last 10 years or so but it seems the maintenance and housekeeping have slipped a lot. Soap holders are rusty, shower gel and soap had run out, windows are really dirty and the peeling paint on the balcony has not been fixed in the last 10 years. It’s really a shame because these things could be fixed quite easily. Hope things will improve before our next stay 🙂.
