Hostels would probably be more social for travellers but we weren’t really bothered about this Room was quite dark and the lights weren’t very bright Drinks in the bar were a bit expensive and some food was too

The location was great, right beside train and bus stops. The amenities were clean, easily accessible and never too busy, which is great when they are shared like this. Couldn't say a better word about the staff, they were really welcoming and knowledgable

Didn't really bother us but it can be quite noisy up until 11pm ish if you are the sort to go to bed early like we are. Ask ahead of arrival if you can have a room on a higher floor - they're friendly, they'll try to help!

Simple but nicely decorated with comfy bed (and pillows) and clean bathrooms. All you need.

Didn’t like that there was no security guard or night manager on the premises after midnight. We barely slept first night due to idiots in the next room blaring music until 2am and again from 4am. Had to confront them ourselves which could have escalated but luckily didn’t.

Great leafy neighbourhood location, great local vibe, interesting places within walking distance, well connected with public transport. Great vibe in the pub downstairs and no noise disturbance at night. Clean, well-equipped and comfortable room. Friendly staff and I was given 2 free drink vouchers, which I really appreciated. Fantastic value for money. Highly recommend and would stay again next time I'm in Sydney,

The bathrooms were a bit tight space wise to get changed in, so I had to walk down the corridor in my smallish towel to get changed in my room. I'd suggest bathrobes in the room or large bath sheets for this reason. Getting luggage up and down the stairs was challenging. I was helped with my luggage upstairs, and I'm sure staff would have been happy to help me downstairs too, but I checked out before the pub downstairs opened so nobody was around.

The staff was amazing! They were always very friendly and extremely attentive. The room in itself was simple but cute. Everything was clean and the location is also really nice with good bars and cafes right around the corner. We would definitely stay again!

We loved our stay but the only minor issue we had was that our window did not close properly which resulted in the room getting quite cold during nighttime. But that is probably only an issue if you stay during the wintertime like we did and you can also just turn up the heater to accommodate for this.

Excellent value, very good location near Kings Cross and two free drink vouchers in the bargain!

It’s not the quietest location, naturally.

Darlo Bar is in a lovely area of Sydney. Tree-lined streets, interesting side streets, good coffee shops on every corner, plenty of restaurants and at least 2 cinemas. I walked everywhere from here, including home from a film show at the botanical gardens at 11.30pm. I felt safe all the time. The staff at the Darlo were very friendly and helpful, storing my bags until the room was available, offering me a jug of iced water to take upstairs and sorting out an issue I had with the room. The showers and toilets are shared, but there are a few and they were always free when I needed them. As a solo female traveller I felt very comfortable both at the accomodation and in the area. The photo shows the street and end of the Darlo Bar building.

This was actually fine for me, but I think it's important to know that the rooms are above a very lively bar. I stayed 4 nights and the music and sound of people was loud until midnight Fri, Sat and Sun. Monday was quieter so other week nights might be too. I don't think it would be suitable for people who go to bed early and/or need a quiet room.

This was a great place to stay. The hotel is located in an interesting neighborhood, away from the busy tourist areas. It is easy to access by public transport. The facilities were clean and the hotel was quiet. Tea and coffee making facilities, and a fridge, were a bonus. I would stay here again.

I was to leave my luggage at the bar on checkout, but the bar was locked up. I finally found someone in the basement to help.

The location was excellent! Close to the metro, many buses and walking distance to most places downtown. The staff was incredible, Jack, Tony and Eiwon (I'm sorry for the spelling!) to name a few made sure I had the best stay and was comfortable and felt safe. Highly recommend for a solo traveler. The bar downstairs was super fun with something to do every night!

It is what it is, but wish the bathrooms were en suite. However, very clean, with all comforts necessary, including feminine hygiene products, which is excellent!

The location was fantastic, and the bar downstairs is a lovely spot to relax in the evenings. The property serves its purpose—you get exactly what’s promised.

One thing to consider: it may not be the best accommodation for larger families or those sensitive to noise. It’s a bar hotel, so there’s some music at night, though it didn’t bother me at all.
