The hotel is a beautiful Victorian style building in a quite neighborhood about 10mn walk from the lively Central Station. The room was cozy and the bed confortable and everything was very clean. The double window also gives good acoustic and thermal insulation.

The room was narrow you can't open a suitcase properly and the closet is too small for 2 people. The bathroom was always too cold because there's no heater in it and it was winter time. Even though breakfast is included you will not find eggs or hot food and you need to pay extra for a proper coffee instant one is available they call it cold breakfast so you will have bread, cheese, yogurt, ham, some fruits and cereals the only hot thing is water for tea bags and instant coffee. Also the room is equipped with a smoke detector that emits a small sound and light every few seconds even though it is small but it might disturb when trying to get asleep.

The Vulcan Hotel was perfect for my solo work trip. I stayed in a Shoebox room which was little but perfect for one person and had everything I needed. The staff were friendly and the service was great. One day my air con remote stopped working and it was fixed immediately. I had also had a few parcels shipped to the hotel before my stay, and the staff happily kept these safe for me until my arrival. The location was excellent, 5 minutes from Broadway mall with a supermarket, and 10 minutes from Darling Harbour. Despite being central it was very quiet, and I slept well every night. I would definitely stay again when next in Sydney.

We stayed for 3 nights before our cruise. Vulcan is in a quiet neighborhood, about 25 minutes drive from the airport and with the Broadway shopping centre less than 10 minutes walk away (Aldi and Coles supermarkets, other shops, pharmacy and various eateries there). Friendly and helpful staff. The hotel owner also came by every day to check in with guests and staff. Room amenities included TV, fridge, kettle with teabags/coffee/sugar and toiletries. We paid a little extra for a microwave in our room. We forgot that the plug sizes in Australia are different to Europe and USA but were able to borrow a USB charging cable from reception. Continental Breakfast was included in our room rate and included juice, tea/coffee, cereals, fruit, breads, muffins and croissants. This was ample for our needs, and clearly also popular with non guests as people came in just to have breakfast at Vulcan. For public transport we walked the short distance towards Chinatown and got onto the light rail (L2 and L3 service direct to Circular Quay). Tip: the Opal card is the best way to access all public transport services in Sydney - trains, buses, light rail and ferries, with a capped weekend fare of $9.35 per day. But to get the Opal card you first need to get to a main station such as Central station. Then just top the card up with whatever credit you need for your stay. At the end of our stay the hotel booked a local taxi to take us to the cruise port terminal; this worked out fine with a 20 minute transfer time and the fare was reasonable.

A beautifully designed hotel with spacious rooms and a very polite, welcoming staff. While the breakfast is quite minimal, it doesn’t significantly impact the overall value. We especially appreciated the luggage storage service, thoughtful and very convenient. The building itself is charming, an old structure that has been beautifully renovated. The neighborhood is also pleasant - not too noisy, yet within walking distance of more central areas.

Minor downside: The bathroom sink was surprisingly small and impractical, especially considering the bathroom itself was quite spacious.

I recently stayed at Vulcan Hotel, and I couldn't have been more impressed. The location is absolutely perfect—right in the heart of the city, with easy access to all the key attractions, restaurants, and transportation options. The staff truly went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable and enjoyable. From the warm welcome at check-in to the attentive service throughout my stay, I felt genuinely cared for. The team was always available, friendly, and ready to assist with any request. The room was spotless, beautifully designed, and well-equipped with everything I needed for a relaxing stay. The attention to detail in the service and accommodations made my visit unforgettable. I highly recommend Vulcan to anyone looking for a combination of luxury, convenience, and outstanding service. I’ll definitely be returning on my next visit!

Breakfast included could be better. It was simple :(

The Vulcan was more comfortable and better appointed than I was expecting, being a low rise older property. I liked the sound proofness of the windows which meant traffic noise was not an issue. The lift and stair access were both good options. The shower had excellent pressure. It was a great location for the UTS, and access to retaurants etc up in the Broadway area.

I'd probably like a little more space so would choose a larger room next time, but it was perfect when you're not spending too much time in the room and it's mainly for sleeping.

The price was very reasonable and on pare with expectations. The location was fabulous for event at the ICC. The room was very comfortable, clean, had all amnesties you need for the stay. My needs were meet and staff were incredibly welcoming, accommodating and friendly. Check in was easy and quick. I would happily stay again.

The shower water didn’t tend to get too hot and could have been warmer but honestly, it was comfortable, clean and good value. This is the only thing I didn’t like about the accomodation and even that was hardly an issue.

Staff were very helpful when I asked for breakfast to takeaway due to leaving for an early tour. They don't have a set packed breakfast so it was kind of like a buffet choice of whatever they had for normal breakfast and they were very accomodating. They also were happy for me to keep my bags in secure storage after checking out so I could do a morning activity without having to carry them around

The WiFi didn't work for the last few days I was there. It seemed the bad weather might have affected it

The Vulcan was recommended by my sister who had stayed here while working in Sydney. There were cafes all around and a couple of nice restaurants nearby. It was only a block away from my AGM and only a short walk up to Woolworths and the Main Street of shops. I loved the ambiance of the breakfast room with lovely old-style piano music. Two of the staff rate a special mention for their superb service. Lupita and Eric.

Sorry I need to mention that management need to take regular checks of the conditions and upkeep of the rooms. The floor tiles in the bathroom of my room were worn and dirty looking. Grubby actually. The trolley in the bathroom was rusty with a broken rail.

I booked this hotel during the weekend when Taylor Swift was in town. Hotel prices were ridiculous, but the Vulcan was reasonably priced and provided complimentary breakfast. We were pleasantly surprised to find that this renovated old building has the charm of a boutique hotel. The staff was welcoming and always helpful. The complimentary breakfast was tasty and our room was delightful. It was the perfect place for a 3-night stay and we didnt mind taking Ubers to get to the harbor and explore the city. We loved this hotel

There was nothing to dislike about the hotel. Everything was perfect. Whoever trained the staff did an excellent job!
