This old Hotel has a lovely ambience. It is situated on a quiet street in an area that is 18 mins walk to Central Station and 15 mins to Fish market at Blackwattle Bay so great location. The bathrooms and our bedroom were scrupulously clean.Little kitchenette was very handy for hot drinks and basic food preparation - has a microwave.
The noise from taped music in the bar downstairs under our room that seeped through our floor at night until midnight , plus the pulsing sound of a generator or maybe the bar fridges that murmured all night long. Take earplugs. The small fridge in the kitchenette area desperately needs defrosting, cleaning or replacing.

Excellent location. 3 L1 light rail stops from Central Station, then a short walk up the hill. Our room on L2 (stairs) was very spacious. Our friends’ room on L1 was more cosy. Very clean facilities and I quite liked the firm bed. Highly recommend the food, I had beef short ribs (so tender); the steak was cooked to perfection and the pot pie was flaky and delicious. The bonus: free drink after arrival (not limited) and 15% off food and drinks (which i forgot about for one round) then was reminded by the staff to remember to mention. I would definitely stay here again. And just down the hill on the right hand side is an excellent cafe for breakfast (there’s 2, we went to the one not on a corner). Best B&E roll i’ve had in a long while, cafe ran by a couple who have been there for 32 years.

Set in the beautiful leafy village feel environment, a lovely welcome by the very charming Scarlett we instantly felt at home. A complimentary drink and discount on food was an unexpected bonus, the bar area is a step back in time furnished with all sorts of interesting yesteryear nik-naks. The room was cosy, light filled and clean with a comfortable supportive bed and ensuite bathroom, a shared kitchenette area has all you could need for tea, coffee or preparing a light breakfast We can't wait to plan our next visit and take in the Sunday jazz afternoon Absolutely a 5 star experience

Staff called me around the time I said I was expecting to check in and were very understanding when I let them know my ETA (arrival was around 11:30pm after a wedding at Doltone House). The gentleman and lady were super friendly when I arrived and explained everything I needed to know. The room was pre-heated which I LOVED especially on these cold nights. Bed was made neatly with two towels ready for me. Pillows were a little bit too soft for my liking but I slept like a baby regardless. Got a free drink as well! Shampoo and conditioner were also provided in the shower room. I am a young woman travelling by herself late at night and I felt pretty safe arriving and staying here.
Booking.com says on the main page that it has a private bathroom but NOT ALL bathrooms are private! I also wasn't confident that the lock on the shower room door on the floor I was on (second set of stairs) actually worked. When I tested the toilet room next door, the handle wouldn't move from the inside if the door was locked, but the shower rooms one did. Luckily it was late at night and I'd like to think think everyone agreed to a "closed door = occupied" policy, but I was still uneasy about it. I purposefully decided to go with this establishment over a slightly closer and slightly cheaper one because of the private bathroom aspect, so I was feeling let down.

Absolutely fantastic location, so close to the CBD but tucked away in a quiet corner. The staff were super friendly and helpful and the vibe in this tiny little pub was really lovely - it's obviously a hang for the locals. It's pub accommodation, but really clean, comfortable and the ensuite bathroom was spacious and immaculate. Even though there was music in the bar, you couldn't really hear it upstairs and there's no through traffic so very little noise of an evening.
Absolutely loved it, and stoked that we found such a great little spot. Will definitely book again - the only word of warning is there is no visitor parking (just limited paid/timed spots and resident permits) so don't bring your car. Ubers around the city were between $11 and $13.

This was basic acc.omodation, sl notch above backpackers, we had the room with on suite I think there is only one. Its a bit tatty but clean and OK. Pub downstairs is handy but there can be a bit of talking noise when people are leaving. It is on the edge of a local green so outside table an chairs great for a drink in summer sun. Pub has a restaurant basic good pub food. there are two small basic cafes nearby for breakfast.
For the money and location it was as expected. Sheets could be better quality, near end of days. two bedside lamps instead of one better.

The location is excellent- so easy to walk in to the CBD and connect to transport in different directions. The room we had was very comfortable and on the corner, so with nice big windows for fresh air yet private on the 3rd floor with large trees as the view. The shared facilities were kept clean - they need maintenance with no door handle on the shower and one bathroom not having a working lock. With some immediate attention these small things will make a big difference. Likewise with offering basics like shower gel which I would expect for the price. The shared kitchenette is great for basic sandwich prep or heat and eat style. It worked well for us if you don’t want to be eating out the entire time. I was able to do washing which was a very big plus when you’re on the road traveling. The self service was excellent and appreciated!
Atleast once during our 4 day stay there should have been a room ‘refresh’ clean. It felt more like a small boarding house style operation so although that worked well for us being independent, if you are used to more hotel based shared facilities and concierge then it won’t be for you. The price difference vs. conventional hotels reflects this though and offers a more affordable comfortable option with a great location;

A relaxed old pub in a great location. Complimentary drink on arrival + 15% off a great meal. Clean and quiet room, clean bathrooms with good hot water. Communal kitchen space with refrigerator, microwave etc. Good value for what you get.
It was heavy rain when I stayed and there was a leak in the ceiling. The dripping sound was a bit of a distraction. However, it's an old building, and the condition of the room overall seems very well maintained. Therefore, the leak has likely been unnoticed by management.

Friendly staff, easy check-in and out, cleanliness, comfortable bed, large room, easy access with side entrance, supplied linen, towels and soap/shampoo.
Recommend wearing eye mask and earplugs for sleepers sensitive to light and noise. I stayed in the front room facing the street so there is light entering the room at night. There was noise at night from an external a/c unit to another room, and refrigeration in the downstairs bar. These are the only issues, and I would happily stay here again for a short stay.

We found the location to be quiet considering the city address. It was clean, the beds was comfortable and it had a basic kitchen suitable to make your own tea and coffee and heat up a simple meal in the microwave plus a good size fridge with cutlery, crockery etc. the tap over the sink needs attending too however. It had 2 shared bathrooms down the hallway which were clean and functioned well. Plus one separate toilet and another in one of the bathrooms.
Sometimes you could hear noise down on the lower level coming from the beer garden and out door eating area. We were there on a Thursday night so it was not too bad but I imagine Friday and Saturday could be quite busy and noisy. I had a grilled tuna salad at lunchtime and my tuna was undercooked. I had to leave some of it uneaten. It does not have air conditioning so I imagine it would be hot in Summer. However, there is a ceiling fan which helps keep the room cool enough to sleep.
