Especially as a solo traveler, I felt so welcomed by the Backpackers staff who is so helpful and friendly. The salt water pool and the outdoor area are made for having a relaxing day and in the evening, there’s so much to do with the people there - from bbq to movie nights or a trip to the beach. You’ll always find someone to play chess or pool with. But it’s also completely respected if you need some me-time WiFi is sufficient if you have to do some work on your laptop and every bed has outlets and reading lights. There are enough toilets and showers, so I never had to wait. And the hostel‘s pets are just so cool. Couldn’t recommend it more

Friendly atmosphere. Locals visiting the bar are lovely. They had pizza night and live music the night I stayed which was fabulous. Had a really nice time there. Would stay again.

Mattresses are old and squeaky. Quiet time at night would be a good idea. Was a bit noisy at night. People talking loudly etc.

For a small hostel this place has everything! A pool, hammock, outside and inside kitchen facilities, bbq, big tv with loads of couches and a bar. Came as a solo female traveller for the night and ended up staying for the weekend, staff were incredible and went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and included. Lots of activities on offer and an overall perfect vibe! Will be coming back when I go back up the coast. Thanks for the amazing weekend!

Handy to have a car however the shops are only a 10 minute walk

The staff were very friendly and the rooms are on the nicer side of what you'd expect from a backpackers which was a pleasant surprise. They put an effort to host small evening barbecues and pizza nights for the guests. The in-house bar has a decent selection of booze and they give discount for the residents. The pool is well maintained and gets frequent use from most of the residents.

First of all I would like to thank Fran for being a great host as she was so efficient & friendly. I cannot imagine the place without her. The facilities were good enough, near & clean, beds were comfy, the balcony on the top, I fell in love with the mini kitchen, ping pong table and the billiards table.

It is hard to tell, but I felt like maybe there could have been more toilets and showers. As the ratio of the toilets & showers compared to the people were not enough.

Super friendly, kind, helpful and accommodating owners/staff. Loved the atmosphere. Our room was super nice, the best we have stayed in so far. I wish we had booked Gladstone Backpackers for longer.

Soo good owner luke has amazing staff at hand n interaction with ppl stayin at hostel taking them out on adventures 4x4 drive wake boarding. Super Friendly staff & very accommodating, cute dog/turtle/bearded dragon, perfect pool. Dinner was provided at a cost, which was very convenient after a long drive. They also have their own bar. Loved all the artwork around. Especially the toilet doors!

The veranda stairs were very very slippery and I wasnt aware of it and slipped down them and badly hurt my knee. In saying this, I am ok a few days later and Gladstone backpackers was the best place we stayed on our 4 day roadtrip!
