THINGS TO DO The island is fantastic for 4WD adventures and beautiful sightseeing. We saw a snake, multiple dingo sightings, goanas, birds, and bats. The lakes and beaches are picturesque, hard to find a place more beautiful. The water is warm and the sand is fine. We went back to the lakes multiple times. Fishing off the Kingfisher wharf is great. While we were there a fella next to us pulled in a 70cm Dew (??) Fish. Plenty of other fish about too. FOOD Food on the island was expensive, with breakfast at $32AUD / person. Meals were typically AUD$30 / adult and AUD$15 for a young child (just enough for our 4 y/o. Food at the Sand and Wood restaurant was terrible, however other restaurants were good. THE RESORT A little dated, but well maintained and well presented. Three unheated pools and one small warm pool. Staff were all super friendly and helpful. Parking was free and a first in first served, but there was so much parking around, even at a peak period (when we went) we never struggled to find a park. Make sure you bring some inflatables for river / lake use, some form of shade, and food for snacks. Make sure you bring your 4WD or hire one. Absolutely necessary to really enjoy the place.
Food at the restaurants could have been better.

Amazing location, loved the sunset experience, exceptional staff and customer service. Impressive Ranger talks - I enjoyed the Bush Tucker tasting. Illuminati light show well worth the experience and tastefully executed. Meals were well done. Fabulous day spa massage and facial.
Few things really, I’d just suggest more integration of native ingredients into meals and the use of macadamia nut milk (gives a nod to native food), avocados available at breakfast. Perhaps consider a BBQ night to give a nod to Aussie culture to make things fun. Infrared sauna and magnesium pools to soak in for a day spa experience.

We love staying at Kingfisher Bay Resort. The staff are lovely and approachable, where nothing is ever too much trouble. All three restaurants have some delicious options and you are able to order everything takeaway. Any time of year is a perfect time to visit, but if you're not travelling with kids, it is always better out of school holidays. The Ilumina light show is fabulous, a definite must for all ages.
It would be nice to see a menu change at the buffet breakfast. If you're there for a longer stay, it would be nice to have a few more options over the period. Some more GF options would also be a bonus. Heating for the pool or spa at least would be a great added bonus.

We had the experience of missing the 5.00pm ferry to the mainland where our car was in secure parking, catching the 5.15 one. As the mainland office was closed, the reception staff were absolutely amazing in ensuring that we were able to access our car and keys. The staff on the ferry were also amazing ensuring that all this ran smoothly for us. We would like to express our gratitude to the reception staff who made this happen for us. We loved everything about the K’Gari resort - the beautiful architecture of the main area, the accommodation set in the natural environment, the beautiful walks led by the rangers and the great food. As our stay was short we will definitely be back to discover more of what this fantastic resort and island, rich in Australian history, has to offer. A big thank you to the staff who made our experience a beautiful memory.

The staff were really helpful and provided great suggestions to both dining and things to do on the island. The location on the island was okay. The food options were diverse with Dune being a real standout for us. The food was amazing, and the atmosphere was spot on. It was easy to walk around the resort and to get to where you need to be relatively quickly.
If anything could be improved, it would be the parking situation - Many people come to Fraser to experience the driving aspect and the lack of parking options at the resort is really noticeable late in the afternoon when the tired travelers are returning.

Facilities fantastic
There could be more dining options. The Dunes restaurant was shut from Monday thru Thursday so there was only the Asian restaurant or the Sand Bar open.

A great little cabin that accommodates a small family. It had a modern bathroom and a kitchen with cooking amenities. The beds were comfortable, and we were extra happy when we discovered we had air-conditioning as the advertisement for the property said there was no guarantee of air-con being in the cabin. There were fans in each main room which was nice through the night. We loved the facilities at King Fisher Bay Resort. Access the to the pool, bars and dining was good and we loved how close we were to Mackenzie Lake.
Our cabin was the furthest away from the main resort area so we were grateful that we had our own car to drive up and down for dinner and to use the pool as it was quite a walk up the hill in the heat. Parking was up on the street away from the cabin so it was a bit of a tricky climb with luggage. I wouldn't recommend for people with prams or mobility issues.

A lovely, unique place to stay. They have thought carefully of the customer experience.
The only complaint is being subjected to a lecture/prayer so common when you’re a tourist in Australia, ie having to listen to their political opinion on Australian history and the people who were here when the British arrived. I don’t subscribe to this ideology and don’t appreciate being forced to go along with it. It’s starting to make me really mad, in fact, but it’s not the fault of the person having to deliver it. It’s their HR department. I’m thinking of choosing my bookings based on not having to hear it. Hence, I’m telling you, in case you want to avoid it too!

Location is beautiful, we stayed in a villa in the hills, was lovely. The facilities were excellent, the buffet breakfast included was fantastic. Beds were comfy. View from balcony is lovely.
The washing machine leaked everywhere and had an error code. Was frustrating as only used twice. We could use the pathway for a few days due to a light show, was a bit inconvenient. For 2 days, there was a very cranky staff member erecting a gate, the language was pretty unacceptable, especially for those who have small children. He was very loud banging and throwing things around all day. The staff drive around the island at high speeds, when we are only allowed the drive slow. The tour buses drive way too quick. If they hit someone, it would be fatal.

Comfortable spacious rooms with a nice balcony and view.
The food outlets were disappointing, you expect to pay higher prices in remote resorts and I'm happy to but I would like good quality food for that price. The menu at the lobby bar is over complicated, some items tasted like frozen food from a box while other items are probably too labour intesive taking away time on getting the basics right. The pub menu was to be expected, I've had the pizzas here on a previous trip and enjoyed them, this time we had the curry that was edible but nothing to write home about. Next time I would likely book a unit with a kitchen to cook our own dinner.
