This motel was the perfect place for anyone travelling through Mackay on a budget. With easy access on a main road, it was still very quiet. The room was clean, the bed was most comfortable, and the shower was hot (with good pressure), and the aircon worked splendidly. The staff were absolutely wonderful, friendly and helpful. The motel was also close to a shop, servo and few restaurants/pubs, so I was able to get a late dinner after arrival. The Lantern came highly recommended by some friends who travel up and down the coast of Queensland frequently, and I will definitely stay there again on my next visit.

The only minor issue was the air freshener in the room - it was quite pungent and overpowering, but I was easily able to move it into the bathroom and close the door overnight.

My family used Lantern regularly when we visit Mackay. We always count on the cleanliness, not only the room but the outside and surrounding areas. Property is definitely well maintained. We also love the thoughtfulness that put into ensuring that shampoos, conditioners, soaps, towels, and face washers are provided for each guests. Thanks Lantern team!!

The rooms were cleaner than some five star hotels I have stayed at. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Walking distance to IGA and petrol station. The pool was perfect for a hot day. Will definitely stay again when in Mackay.

The rooms were dated but perfectly clean and has everything you need. The location is right on the highway so expect a bit of noise.

Very good place to stay. Staff was really friendly and told us places to check out on the way to cairns. Nice room had everything you needed and was 100% worth the money.

The car park was a bit tight. I was afraid someone was going to hit my car as they pull out. Be mindful about this especially if you own an expensive or big car.

A clean and tidy room with everything I needed for a stay in town. Cutlery, clean cups and mugs, shampoo/conditioner/soap, hand and face towels. The shower pressure and temperature was 10/10, a good shower is something I value and the Lantern Motor Inn exceeded my expectations in size of the shower and pressure. The rooms were a decent size with plenty of extra furniture and a table to sit at. Netflix was logged in and available and the Air con system worked well. A few people mentioned noise from the road in reviews but for the excellent location I feel that is to be expected, with the bathroom door shut and after around 10pm I couldn’t hear a thing. I will be staying here again in the future.

There was an issue with the Room next to me and an unruly guest but that isn’t anything to do with the staff or venues fault. The staff handled it extremely quickly and took my concerns seriously, I was very impressed with their response.

All staff friendly, welcoming, helpful. Good price. Room very clean, and although older, it had everything required for a comfortable stay. Doubled glazed windows assist with any traffic noise. Had shops close by, i.e supermarket, take aways, liquor shop, and a hotel also in walking distance.

Not much to dislike but a little jug to help fill the electric kettle would be helpful, (as with most hotels without kitchenettes it's difficult filling the kettle from basin tap.)

Central location and easy access to everything. I stayed only one night and had to fly out, the manager and staff were very polite and helpful, the room was nice and very tidy with air conditioning. The room had microwave, toaster, hot water jug, ironing board and an iron. It has onsite carpark as well.

Amazingly friendly and helpful staff. Good sound insulation, so once the room was closed, traffic noise was minimal. Good aircon and showers.

The pool closes a little early, so we didn't get to use it.

Well priced, friendly staff, great beds, quite room and perfectly located for my travel requirements.
