Having not heard of the place (and booking last minute with a major event down the road!!) and arriving after dark, I was BLOWN AWAY at sunrise!!! Stunning property, quaint cottage plus brilliant and discrete staff. Thoroughly enjoyed exploring the grounds with the little spare time I found on the Sunday!!! Thank you so much for both your care and professionalism at my time of checkout (especially when considering I buggered up the booking AND was 2 hours or more late to leave as a result!!) A little kindness from cleaning/maintenance staff can go a very long way - thank you so much.

Bed was comfy & warm enough for a cold Tasmanian night. Fire worked well & warmed the space well whilst it was going. Bathroom upgrade is excellent.
If you book the cottage, you have access to the estate as part of the deal - great! But, for goodness sake, put a gate in the hedge for the gardener's cottage so the occupants can wander straight into the rose garden instead of having to access from the back entrance 200m away! It's the only cottage located well away from the rest of the historic buildings. Poor cottage is looking tired on the outside & needs a fix & a paint. It could also do with a hardy "english" garden to give it that "gardeners" vibe. Need to capitalize more on the history & "chocolate box" appeal this cottage could have. How about it bit more information on the history of the property. These types of places are usually booked by people interested in the historic background.

Great location within the grounds of the historical Woolmers Estate. As part of the stay I was able to take a self guided tour of the estate (self guide tour booklet provided with keys from the pin coded lock box). I did this in the late afternoon and felt like the only person for miles...loved it, was very peaceful. I stayed in the Head Gardner's Cottage which has been kept in its original configuration (with modern amenities of course). Very cosy, very comfortable. Fireplace in reception/lounge of cottage was set up and ready to light, with plenty of firewood available. Free wifi was fast and reliable, I was able to stream youtube in HD and 4K without buffering. Welcome message and chocolates on the kitchen table was a nice touch. All in all, highly recommend this stay if you want to explore Australia's colonial history in comfort and style. If you just explore the cottage you'll absorb some excellent history.
These are just minor suggestions for facilities value adds noting I would definitely stay here again. I self catered and couldn't use the fry pans as they were non-stick (Teflon / PFAS / forever chemicals that I go to great lengths to avoid), stainless/cast/ceramic non-stick pans would be awesome. Also, the smart TV wasn't connected/connectable to the internet (capable but not connectable), be great to have this to watch favourite streaming services (watched them on my phone using the free wifi), minor observation but good value add.

One must bear in mind that the Coachman's cottage in which we stayed for 3 nights was built C1830 so it may not be comfortable for some eg., stairs will be difficult for the handicapped. However, most people come here for the experience of what our forebears encountered. This is what got plus the bonus of exploring the extensive grounds, other heritage buildings, additional tours and an Information centre complete with art exhibition and cafe.
Nothing really. Maybe a magnificent rooster who decides 4.00am is a good time to wake up.

The best part was the ability to stay on a historic estate and.walk around when no-one else is around. Interesting old buildings and beautiful rose garden. Accommodation is comfortable but fairly rustic. Everything is clean and comfortable, but not special. Sitting area is fairly basic in terms of furnishings. Bedroom upstairs was large and comfortable. Kitchen has enough for a night or so.
Understand that the cottage is old, but a bit of maintenance is required.

We didn't know what to expect but on arrival we were were just "wowed " with what we experienced! The cabin we stayed in was a step back in time and the grounds and Rose garden were sensational 👌 . Would definitely recommend a stop here if you want to experience some Australian history .
Would have been nice to be able to have dinner in the restaurant. However, understand that atm it is not set up to stay open all day. Either way it's not a complaint.

FREINDLY STAFF, EASY CHECK IN AND OUT, ATMOSPHERE WAS NICE AND COSY. HAVING A WASHING MACHINE AND CLOTHES DRYER WAS CONVENIENT. SHORT DRIVE FROM NICE EATERY.
LOCKING THE FRONT DOOR WAS VERY HARD. WE HAD TO LIFT THE DOOR UP WHEN LOCKING IT. THERE WERE LOTS OF SMALL INSECTS GETTING THROUGH THE FLY SCREEN. ROSE GARDEN HAD THE SMELL OF ANIMAL FECES AND I HAD TO LOOK WHERE I WAS WALKING.

The property was very clean and welcoming The surrounds so peaceful and a great representation of yester-year. Beds incredibly comfy and plenty of wood and heating.
Disappointed to find option to preorder food packages on arrival. We were unaware of this offer and may have utilized it f we'd known pre arrangement required.

Wonderful location, great history and congratulations for maintaining such a historic site. We stayed in a very historic cottage which was very comfortable and loved the combustion burner.
We arrived in July, it was bitterly cold so walking was very limited. Check on opening times as we arrived after 2.30. There are plenty of self activities but too cold. Would have appreciated internet

The cottage was lovely and in a beautiful spot. We were able to walk around the estate in the late afternoon which was also nice. Great to have cooking facilities. Great shower. Amazing sunset on our walk.
The step down into the bathroom might need a small night light at night to remind people of the step?
