Melissa is a delightful hostess, who you meet when you collect the key to Bay View Apartment 1. She provided a pleasant, cheerful greeting, a first day breakfast hamper, guided us to make unloading easier and gave very helpful details on how to safely get in and out of the shower, which is above the bath. The accommodation had two comfortable bedrooms, a separate well-equipped kitchen/dining room and a separate loungeroom with excellent heating. The balcony would provide a very pleasant spot to sit and watch the world go by, in the right weather. The included undercover parking a little distance away, was greatly appreciated. Williamstown has many restaurants conveniently located to the accommodation, and Melissa can arrange the booking for you, or if you prefer eating in, an enjoyable meal can easily be created by a visit to the Hot Golden Bakery in Williamstown North where delightful roasted pork belly, with crispy crackling can be purchased whole or diced. Add a tray of microwavable mixed vegetables from Woolworths next door, and pick up some hot scallop potatoes from Hot wings charcoal chickens in Ferguson St, alternatively dine on Hot Wings roast chicken and a selection of their salads.

Although it would not be in keeping with the era of the apartment a walk in shower would be a desirable safety feature. Having said that I did prove a 77yr old can manage it.

Our arrival time was delayed due to a late flight so we manager was in regular contact with me to provide a solution so we could access the property. It worked perfectly and it was a great relief to not have to worry about being delayed. Upon viewing the apartment it was like an oasis. It was beautiful and roomy with a delicious basket of breakfast goodies waiting for us. We wished we could have stayed longer and would definitely return when in Melbourne again. Thank you for the wonderful stay and all of the little extras you provided like Q-tips in the bathroom and gourmet coffee pods.

Through no fault of the property, there was traffic noise from the road, but we had the windows open. Perhaps some extra fans would be helpful.

Tired certainly needs some TLC Especially the bathroom Was met by the lovely manager who instantly apologised for the lack of repair on the original sink and bath I agree they need to remain but they do need to be repaired professionally. Please Clean under the kitchen sink too A light in the laundry cupboard would also be useful had to use my phone torch to see dials and a step as I am 5foot 2. And couldn’t reach the tumble dryer nice enough place I would use it again as it convenient

The apartment was very large, four bedrooms with three attached toilets with bathtubs and an additional powder room for guests. The main living/dining area with a open kitchen was big and well-furnished. There was also a separate family area near the bedrooms. Location was great and we could see the waterfront from the main living area, which was also bright and airy due to its many windows and skylights. The reception was fantastic and welcoming. There was a welcome starter pack comprising of two boxes of milk, two boxes of orange juice, bread, small packs of butter, jam, cereals, a plate of biscuits, tea, coffee, sugar, tubs of yoghurt and even a pitcher of cold water in the fridge. The kitchen was stocked with all the kitchenware that you will need to make a meal. There was even a separate pantry with even more kitchen aids. I would say that this is the best apartment that I have ever rented, in terms of location, size, amenities and welcome.

Having to climb up the flight of stairs to get to the apartment, but this is a small sacrifice if you are able-bodied, but might be more daunting for those with lots of luggage, small children, people with disabilities or elderly.

The particular room I stayed in was very spacious. The accomodation was set up as a self catering B & B. Tea and coffee was freely available. There was a full sized fridge available. As well as a couch in my room, there was also a shared lounge and garden area. It was close to many cafes, takeaways, bakeries and a supermarket. A one minute walk to the foreshore.

Car parking was available, but not particular secure, despite being locked in the evening. My car was damaged from someone trying to break into it. Could be better.

The suite was perfect for our group! It was beautifully appointed, very spacious, had comfy beds, & was complete with a balcony hosting a lovely view. Our hostess Melissa made sure we were welcomed with a tour & a thorough rundown on our beautiful suite. She was extremely helpful & went out of her way to make sure our stay was smooth sailing! Many thanks Melissa & Narelle! Would highly recommend for a Williamstown getaway!

Everything was wonderful ! Only suggestion would be to add a night blind in small bedroom/office to block out early morning sun but otherwise it was exceptional!

We have stayed in many hotels and apartment but this was our favourite stay yet. Such a beautiful spot! Extremely attentive and friendly staff, quick responses and went above and beyond. The historical apartment we stayed in was beautiful. We loved the detail of the common room upstairs with snacks, tea and coffee and able to go sit outside on the balcony. Beautiful location in Williamstown so close to the CBD but also a lovely spot to go to local coffee shops and walk along the wharf. Couldn’t recommend this spot more!!

A lovely opportunity to taste a bit of history. The location was great and Melissa was very welcoming. Really appreciated the light breakfast offerings and the tea and biscuits in the kitchen/lounge area which was spacious, eclectically furnished with interesting books to browse and leading off onto a good sized veranda with views to the city and stairs into a lovely secret garden.

Not that we “didn’t like” but the door dividing the bed and the en-suite bathroom in our room didn’t stay in the position to keep the bathroom closed off as it gently rolled back to shut off the entry to the room which did give greater privacy. The once very generous sized room is now a bit of a squeeze but of course all want our own private bathroom which is the trade off. Just need to realise that there is the gorgeous lounge area in which to stretch out in comfort. Part of the charm when choosing such accommodation.

Gorgeous historic building with quality furnishing and beautiful rooms. Very well appointed with everything you could need including a shared space lounge kitchen dining deck and garden. Thoughtful extras like shortbreads and port. I felt welcomed by the staff and enjoyed a chat with the owner Melissa who took the time to say hello and share some history. Highly recommend this stay. Look forward to the next time thank you for a wonderful experience.

Absolutely nothing to note. All was well thought out to the smallest detail including heating in the bathroom and fresh complimentary water.

After my long weekend plans fell through, I decided to book last minute at a local BnB with the intention of relaxing, reading and walking. The Captain's Retreat was perfect. I stayed in the Britannica Room which has a lovely big spa bath. The property has a beautiful garden, back deck and lounge room and I spent lots of time lounging and reading in each. There are also 2 kitties, not allowed in guest areas so don't fret if you have allergies, but I loved seeing them in the backyard. The location is close to the water and lots of restaurants. I stayed in the dead of winter and at first was very cold. The heater took a little while to heat the room at first but after that, I was very comfortable. There's also a heat blanket on the bed. Things for other guests to be aware of: - In the Britannica Room, there are 2 steps into the bathroom. Fine for me, but possibly an issue for others - The mattress is VERY firm which personally I love but others may not

Nothing that I didn't like per say, but a suggestions for Melissa to consider in future would be a sheer / lace curtain. As the bay window in this room is on the ground floor near the street I wished there was a lace / sheer curtain so I could have some privacy while sitting at the table.
