We both particularly loved the decor in this hotel: the room was really tastefully designed, and the bed was extremely comfortable. Our room had a great view over the canal. The hotel bar is lovely and a great place to relax before bed. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming and gave us loads of great ideas about where to go in the city. We loved the delicious breakfast. The location is also spot on - it's not on a stretch of the canal that gets all the tourist boats going past, so it's nice and quiet, but it really is only a stone's throw away from all the great places to visit. Thank you so much for everything!

A lovely old-fashioned hotel. We had a standard room – 13 - overlooking the canal with a very good view. It was quite small, though apparently one of the larger ones, but had a large double bed. It has no restaurant but a bar and a garden for sitting out. The stairs to the first floor are steep and would not suit elderly/infirm. A magnificent breakfast which lacked absolutely nothing. The reception staff are charming and extremely helpful. Easy less than ten-minute walk to the main square and less than five minutes’ walk to Pieter Pourbus, Tom’s Diner and Orfeo restaurants which I review separately. We spent a very happy four nights there. Easy 20-minute bus trip from the station on line 2 bus.

Only one small (very small) negative was the noise from the garden area. We are early to bed and early risers, but we both have ear plugs, so the noise was not too obtrusive. One suggestion would be to have little jugs to put milk in for us English people to be able to pour milk into our cups of tea! I used a glass from the serving table and then poured it from the glass into the cup. These are only very small feedback points - as the hotel and our stay was WONDERFUL.

Beautiful old building, right on the canal! Great location - a very short walk (5-10min) from town centre which I actually preferred as it has the advantage of being a little quieter - and lets face it walking in Bruges is one of the nicest things you can do. Had a little gym that you can work out in. beautiful rooms, amazing decor. Very friendly and helpful staff (Flanders people just seem nice in general). Breakfast was top notch, basically everything you could ask for, baked goods, hot food, fruit, yoghurt, everything.

the bed was too soft for my liking - but i like a firm bed. I still slept well enough! How can you make everyone happy with a bed? this is a big question. but anyway, the bed was soft. Also the gym didn't open till 8am I wouldn't mind an earlier start!

A LITERAL DREAM! The Hotel Ter Brughe is a gem and we hope to be back very soon. It’s perfectly appointed, quaint, and an experience we won’t soon forget. The room was magical, we had a 3 person room with our son and it was so comfortable. The beds were lovely (and large! king), the room had wonderful aircon, which came in super handy on the rare hot summer day. The hotel is also located in a wonderful location, still close to everything but off the tourist path, lovely walks home after dinner without the hustle.

We loved everything about it. Some notes for specific types of travelers, this hotel is not suitable for anyone who has difficulty with stairs. It would be very challenging as it’s a historic building and luggage (and people) have to go up and down via stairway.

Hotel Ter Brughe was like staying in a fairytale! The location is perfect! 5-10 min walk to everything in every direction. Even the bus to the train station was just down the street. Very easy with rolling luggage. From the lobby to the little bar, garden, and breakfast area, it was perfection and very comfortable. Our room was amazing! Right in between two bridges on the quiet canal with a bay window that opened where I sat each morning with my coffee! Every staff member we encountered was friendly and knowledgeable! I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Everything was magical!

The location was great, our room overlooked the canal. You could walk into the main square with Town Hall and Bell Tower in 10 minutes. The breakfast was wonderful and the staff were friendly and helpful. This is a traditional hotel with all the characteristics of a building that dates back to 1496. We liked that plus there is a small bar and a courtyard to sit in which we used once we returned from our evening meal for a nightcap.. The staff are friendly and helpful. the hotel is lovely and quiet and the beds and room are comfortable.

The bathrooms could do with an update. It is an odd arrangement with a bath containing a hand held shower head. It made having a shower a bit awkward. The hotel would not suit anyone with mobility problems as the bath was steep sided and the stairs to our room were steep.

We had the most magical stay at this medieval hotel in Bruges. Our room was on the top floor, with beautiful exposed beams and an antique charm that made us feel like we were living in a fairy tale castle. Everything was simply perfect – from the cozy and well-kept room to the enchanting atmosphere throughout the hotel. One of the highlights was the breakfast – it was absolutely delicious and served in a charming basement or wine cellar that overlooked the canal. Watching the swans glide by as we sipped our coffee was like something out of a storybook. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, adding to the warm and memorable experience. We had originally planned to visit Brussels for a few days, but the city of Bruges and this wonderful hotel completely stole our hearts – we ended up staying here the entire time. Without a doubt, this is one of the best hotels we've ever stayed in. Truly unforgettable!

Location was great, walking to Market Square takes 7-8 minutes. Hotel was built right next to the canal, away from the hustle bustle of the Market Square, with an old world charm. Breakfast was in a cosy setup with window facing canal. A very good selection for buffet breakfast that can definitely fuel you up for the day! Helpful and friendly staff who is often there to assist.

The toiletries provided was too exotic with a strong musky smell, which covered the room when entered. With someone like me that have a sensitive nose, it was too strong & stifling, almost can’t breathe.

This hotel and staff are exceptional, especially Ella...she needs to be cloned and put in every hotel around the world. Seriously, she is stellar! The history and vibe of the place is awesome and very welcoming. Having a small bar for morning and evening drinks to take out onto their terrace was superb, their breakfast room a great experience...I truly cannot say enough good things about Hotel Ter Brughe! Oh...I can...when you stay here, be sure to have their hot chocolate and enjoy the almond shortbread cookies 😁
