We both particularly loved the decor in this hotel: the room was really tastefully designed, and the bed was extremely comfortable. Our room had a great view over the canal. The hotel bar is lovely and a great place to relax before bed. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming and gave us loads of great ideas about where to go in the city. We loved the delicious breakfast. The location is also spot on - it's not on a stretch of the canal that gets all the tourist boats going past, so it's nice and quiet, but it really is only a stone's throw away from all the great places to visit. Beautiful old building, right on the canal! Great location - a very short walk (5-10min) from town centre which I actually preferred as it has the advantage of being a little quieter - and lets face it walking in Bruges is one of the nicest things you can do. Had a little gym that you can work out in. beautiful rooms, amazing decor. Very friendly and helpful staff (Flanders people just seem nice in general). Breakfast was top notch, basically everything you could ask for, baked goods, hot food, fruit, yoghurt, everything.

the bed was too soft for my liking - but i like a firm bed. I still slept well enough! How can you make everyone happy with a bed? this is a big question. but anyway, the bed was soft. Also the gym didn't open till 8am I wouldn't mind an earlier start!

Hotel Ter Brughe was like staying in a fairytale! The location is perfect! 5-10 min walk to everything in every direction. Even the bus to the train station was just down the street. Very easy with rolling luggage. From the lobby to the little bar, garden, and breakfast area, it was perfection and very comfortable. Our room was amazing! Right in between two bridges on the quiet canal with a bay window that opened where I sat each morning with my coffee! Every staff member we encountered was friendly and knowledgeable! I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Everything was magical!

The location was great, our room overlooked the canal. You could walk into the main square with Town Hall and Bell Tower in 10 minutes. The breakfast was wonderful and the staff were friendly and helpful. This is a traditional hotel with all the characteristics of a building that dates back to 1496. We liked that plus there is a small bar and a courtyard to sit in which we used once we returned from our evening meal for a nightcap.. The staff are friendly and helpful. the hotel is lovely and quiet and the beds and room are comfortable.

The bathrooms could do with an update. It is an odd arrangement with a bath containing a hand held shower head. It made having a shower a bit awkward. The hotel would not suit anyone with mobility problems as the bath was steep sided and the stairs to our room were steep.

We had the most magical stay at this medieval hotel in Bruges. Our room was on the top floor, with beautiful exposed beams and an antique charm that made us feel like we were living in a fairy tale castle. Everything was simply perfect – from the cozy and well-kept room to the enchanting atmosphere throughout the hotel. One of the highlights was the breakfast – it was absolutely delicious and served in a charming basement or wine cellar that overlooked the canal. Watching the swans glide by as we sipped our coffee was like something out of a storybook. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, adding to the warm and memorable experience. We had originally planned to visit Brussels for a few days, but the city of Bruges and this wonderful hotel completely stole our hearts – we ended up staying here the entire time. Without a doubt, this is one of the best hotels we've ever stayed in. Truly unforgettable!

Location was great, walking to Market Square takes 7-8 minutes. Hotel was built right next to the canal, away from the hustle bustle of the Market Square, with an old world charm. Breakfast was in a cosy setup with window facing canal. A very good selection for buffet breakfast that can definitely fuel you up for the day! Helpful and friendly staff who is often there to assist.

The toiletries provided was too exotic with a strong musky smell, which covered the room when entered. With someone like me that have a sensitive nose, it was too strong & stifling, almost can’t breathe.

Just thinking back to our stay makes me happy. Extremely charming hotel in a historical building. Very central location. Everything we wanted to explore while in Bruges was within an easy walk. Staff was very friendly, professional, and welcoming. Our room was amazing - it was like going back in time with all the modern comforts incl. Nespresso coffee maker ;-) Old world charm with wooden beams, cute tapestry, and a canal view. We were on a higher floor (4th, I believe). Large room with a double bed and two individual beds. You could sit in bed and look out at the canal. Beautiful. Lots of space for a family. Huge bathroom, and everything was spotless clean. When we thought this couldn't get any better, we went down to breakfast and were truly amazed. The breakfast room is at canal level and you can see the swans swimming by. The selection and quality of food was outstanding, and everything was delicious. Plus a variety of coffees, teas, juices, even sparkling wine. We were in breakfast heaven. Wish I could go back soon.

Quaint hotel with period features and decor. Lovely quiet canalside location. 5 mins walk from centre. Clean spacious room with air con. Decent breakfast.

Mainly bathroom issues. Superior rooms only had baths and no showers. lower floor had issue with water backing up which led to change of room. Both rooms had missing fittings, bath plinths and cracked tiles. Baths not the cleanest either. Limited space for drying towels or even hanging up or laying out your cosmetics, toothbrush, shaver etc.

Absolutely loved this hotel and the the history of it. Dated back to 1500’s. Original features and lots of character. Location was fantastic - 10 minute walk to the main square at a relaxed pace. Hotel itself very peaceful. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The breakfast was amazing. So much choice - breads, rolls, croissants, pastries, waffles, pancakes, cereals, fruit, smoked salmon, cheeses and ham and also cooked breakfast - scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns and beans. To drink - juices, variety of teas, coffees and hot chocolate as well as cava. Nice little garden area to chill after a busy day sightseeing as well as nice little bar area. Effective air conditioning. We were a group of 6, 4 of us stayed for 4 nights and 2 for 2 nights. All rooms were lovely and each was unique. Highly recommend. Would stay here again.

Nothing personally. Just to be aware some of the room styles only have shower heads attached to bath and are not walk in showers due to the old style building. So they do not hang over bath either and no shower screen so might be tricky for some. Also no lift again due to the same reasons so if walking up stairs is problematic for those with mobility issues request ground floor room.

I booked two rooms for myself and family. They were spacious with a coffee machine, toiletries and everything you need. The staff make it so friendly and they all speak many languages. They ant do enough for you. Breakfast is lovely, lots of choice and the building being so old makes it a memorable experience. The location is just perfect and we enjoyed meandering around many different areas which we really enjoyed.

It's not so much what I didn't like but for me personally, I struggled to sleep well. There was a little road noise at times despite it being in a quiet area. It's an old building so I do also appreciate that the windows were thin. The pillows were not very comfortable and with having a bad back at times the mattress was for me a little too soft. However, it didn't affect my trip and I know it's only a little thing. I struggle to sleep well anywhere I go unfortunately, but it certainly would not put me off coming back again.
