Faultless - probably the loveliest place I have ever stayed in. The amazing things are almost too great to list. Let’s start with the staff who warm, genuinely caring, hard working, attentive and each and every one would go out of their way to make sure our stay was the best it could be. The room, restaurant, pool and reception areas were immaculately kept and the welcome we received was so warm and kind. Mr Sombo the tuktuk driver took us out on 2 days and was warm and chatty and told us about the local area, providing us with cold water throughout our trip. Our taxi driver back to the airport at the end was also amazing - courteous and pointing out things for us as we drove along to help us learn about the area. The hotel itself is located in a perfect place both for venturing into the centre of Siem Reap and exploring outside to places like Angkor Wat and Tonle Sap. Next I have given a few recommendations on where to visit - again, the staff at the hotel helped to organise tuktuks and trips for us, making everything so easy for us to do. As well as Angkor Wat and the surrounding temples which makes for an unmissable trip, I recommend the Cambodia Elephant Sanctuary as an ethical and heartwarming way to meet an animal which is so entwined in the history and lives of the Cambodian people. There are no chains or riding - elephants have free choice and are leading more natural, healthier lives that they were before they were rescued. I also thoroughly recommend going to Tonle Sap and the floating villages to understand more about how desperately poor the lives of some Cambodians are. Finally, there is a well hidden piece of history at Wat Thmei, not far from the hotel, which is not very well publicised. It was one of the Killing Field sites outside Pnom Penh and so gives a small account of the grim reality of the genocide with a memorial to those who died.

Honestly, nothing could be made better.

After a long journey, we were picked up early in the morning by the hotel’s shuttle service from the bus – an excellent service that set the tone for our entire stay. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed with a "Welcome Home", a phrase that truly reflected the spirit of the hotel throughout our visit. Even though we arrived well before check-in time, we were offered the chance to freshen up and were served a welcome drink and snack – a small gesture that made a big impact. The hotel’s ambiance is absolutely stunning: stylish, thoughtfully designed and wonderfully relaxing. The staff deserves special praise – exceptionally kind, attentive and genuinely dedicated to making your stay perfect. Cleanliness is impeccable and the entire property is beautifully maintained. Here, great service means going the extra mile: You’re lounging by the pool when suddenly, warm waffles with honey are brought to you – just because. Or you arrive at 6 a.m. and not only can you store your luggage, but you're also immediately offered cool towels, freshly prepared fruit, lemonade and a refillable water bottle for the water dispenser. You can either relax in the wonderfully scented lobby while waiting for your room or hop into one of the hotel’s in-house tuk-tuks to explore Pub Street – which we highly recommend, as their tuk-tuks are cheaper than Grab & the drivers are soooo friendly & fun! By the way, does anyone know what those Khmer waffles are called? They’re served during the complimentary afternoon tea and were absolutely delicious – I’d love to recreate them at home. Also, what kind of room fragrance is used here? The scent in the lobby was heavenly – I need it for my home! We felt completely at ease and would have loved to extend our stay. If you're visiting Siem Reap and looking for a place that combines outstanding service, comfort, and heartfelt hospitality – this is it. Hands down, best Hotel I've been to. Nothing to complain, exceptional value for money

The environment is bright, traditional, and a total pleasure to be in. Superb dishes were served in the restaurant every day. We had no hesitation in choosing to eat there the whole time. Free afternoon tea was a bonus and an opportunity to meet other guests. Nothing was too much for the staff who maintained a happy, confident, efficient manner at every encounter. Being disabled, I was initially startled by the special care and attention paid to my needs but soon realised that this is simply the Cambodian way. No better place to find it than at People by the Community! My trust in the hotel to make all our arrangements, from airport taxis to sightseeing tours, was fully justified. The Manager warmly welcomed us and found time to say farewell. This personal touch extended to the entire staff and that wonderful set of people made our stay probably the most exceptional of my experience. I appreciate everything done for us and cannot recommend People by the Community any higher.

Beautiful oasis off the main road to Angkor Wat. Staff very helpful and attentive during the whole stay. Very comfortable large room. Two pools to use with abundance of pools. Lovely welcome with cold towels, cold local drink & fresh fruits. Lovely breakfast & afternoon tea. Many Tuktuks available to take us into town for $1. We would happily stay there again. Thank you

This is THE PLACE to stay if you are visiting Angkor Wat and/or Siem Reap, especially if you are concientious about ethical travel. This hotel donates $1 per night per room to fund youth education, and the hotel serves as a lifegiving river to that same community. This is social entrepreneurship at its best, and a welcome innovative model to promote sustainable development. Remember that if you stay at an international chain, much of the profit gets expatriated back to the developed world and does not end up in the hands of the locals. By staying at People by the Community, you will not only have a wonderful stay, but be supporting the Khmer and your money will go more directly to Cambodia's development. They are also doing their best to be environmentally conscious and are exploring the best ways of achieving this since the current ownership took control only a few weeks ago. The people here are super friendly by nature. This IS a different culture, and the staff will treat you like family and they do so with sincerity. They are wonderful people, and will gladly spend time talking with you. The lobby is as gorgeous as what you see in the photos. The place has great character and it was a big selling point for me to reserve here. The location is also fabulous, as it's on the road to Angkor Wat but also not too far from downtown, which can be reached for free via tuk tuk or about 20 minutes walking. The rooms are clean with excellent local decor, and the bed is extremely comfortable. The bathroom is stylish and very clean. The hotel also offers a tuk tuk and driver in Angkor for a reasonable price ($25/day and $5 more for sunrise). The breakfast and restaurant are great, and I really enjoed tea time. I have traveled to 46 countries, and I will say that this hotel will not be forgotten! Look no further, and stay at this wonderful estabishment if you are traveling to Siem Reap.

The property is beautiful and well-kept. The concierge is accommodating, and the staff is quite nice - special thanks to Mr. Lucky and Remon, who always greeted us with cheerful smiles. They appreciate their work because everyone is pleased with their natural expressions. They aided in the arrangement of transportation back to the airport.

The most important part is helping the community, it is unbelievable that we could have a chance to help poor children while we are staying here. They do not accept donations, just stay here they will do the rest on your behalf. Greatest initiative to create a kinder planet 🌏 Come and support them ❣

I had a wonderful and peaceful stay at People by The community. The whole team was kind, friendly and helpful. I booked all the tuk tuk tour they offered and my driver Billy was truly outstanding, respectful and kind. I also booked a tour guide which I highly recommend especially for Angkor Wat and Bayon temples, Mr Pada was very knowledgeable and passionate about his country. Had twice a massage with Mrs Naren and she unblocked knots I thought would never go🙏. Thank you for all the team for a great stay and for all the efforts you put in to provide great service and give back to the community 🙏

Everything was amazing

A peaceful and positive base for exploring Angkor. The staff is exceptionally attentive, personal and friendly. Rooms are spacious and clean. The location is perfect for trips to the temples area as it's north of the city, but still very close to downtown (5-10 minutes and 1$ to the center). We booked two tours here with a wonderful tuktuk driver (18$ each +5$ for sunrise) and a private tour guide (50$ incl. sunrise). The dinner is good, the included afternoon tea wonderful (with homemade tea assortment and fresh waffles) and the pools nice to cool off. Massages on your room are available, professional and clean. This is an exceptionally warm-hearted and convenient hotel for an appropriate price tag.

The private guide we booked was not as insightful and informative as we hoped. But that's not really the hotel's responsibility. Everything else was spot on!

It was very welcoming. Staff were always willing to help. They really went above and beyond for us. We liked that there were refillable water stations and a welcome drink on arrival. The free afternoon tea was a nice touch which gave us a chance to taste the local teas. Our room was a good size and very comfortable. The rooftop pool is lovely and relaxing. They also offer tuktuk rides for $1 which is cheaper than in the town and all the staff as wonderful. We really had a wonderful time at this beautiful hotel and hope to return one day! We are backpacking south east Asia and it was a nice break from the all the craziness. Thank you so much to everyone in the community for a beautiful stay.
