The details on Booking.com clearly state that the rooms are used as student dorms in Autumn and Winter so expectations weren't high bearing in mind how good value the accommodation was for 4 of us for 5 nights. The reality was the accommodation was great, there was aircon which was needed as the temperature was high 20s the whole time we were there and the rooms were very clean, comfortable and of a good spec. So I would highly recommend

The staff on reception could be a little more friendly and courteous. They were fine but didn't really interact with you at all as you were coming and going. That was the only difference , for me, between this accommodation and a hotel. The cleaning staff were cool by the way

We liked how clean and comfortable this setup is. Knowing the kitchen is not populated ahead of time did not lead to disappointment. The location is excellent. Central enough to walk if you want or grab TTC easily. Plus, the Distillery District is cool enough on it's own. Nearby trails for the Don valley or Tommy Tompson park make this area perfect. The city bikes available out front was good too. We will return here in our next visit to the city.

Not a major for us, but we did try to contact them before arrival by the booking messenger with no reply and then the phone number goes direct to answer machine. Had our concern been urgent this could have been an issue.

location , value for money- able to have each teenager have a room at an affordable price.

there were not even paper cups or disposable utensils available to be used in the kitchenettes in the room or in the kitchen on the floor. I don't expect a fully equipped kitchen but having a few basics - even a kettle in the lounge on each floor would have helped. Also - it was odd when I checked in the person working the desk told me three times no drinking - which i found very odd. As a single mother travelling with 3 teenage daughters - I don't think I look like the partying type - and there was nothing about that in the booking details when i reserved - so I found it odd that it was stressed so much.

The room was clean, tidy and surprisingly spacious. It was nice to have our own apartment, and as there were three of us in a two-bedroom apartment, the kitchen area was handy if someone woke up early as it was another space to be in. The bathroom was a decent size too. Only two towels were provided although we'd booked a 3-person stay, but this was easily rectified by the friendly and helpful staff on reception. The details said that the cleaners would be in if we were staying longer than 3 days, and they came in exactly as expected and changed the beds etc. The location is absolutely fantastic, with a variety of good restaurants and shops nearby and great transport links, and comparably located/linked hotels or private rental apartments are considerably more expensive, so this is really good value for money. Good views as well (we were on the top floor!)

The property are quite clear on the fact that they're not a hotel, and that's fair enough, but a lot of people who book this property are, like us, coming from overseas, so we can't bring much with us and the lack of cutlery/crockery/a kettle would probably be an issue for longer stays (we were only there for a few days and so we ate out). The building is quite warm, and we opened the windows in the bedroom to get a better sleeping temperature, but then you have to contend with the traffic noise (which, to be fair, is barely noticeable with the windows closed). There was a temperature control in the apartment but that didn't seem to do anything.

The staff is absolutely phenomenal and so, so kind. I find the rooms bare but clean and functional. The bathrooms are always clean when we arrive which is so appreciated. The bedding was clean and tidy. It's definitely become my favourite place to stay in the city.

Absolutely love staying at the George Brown Residence but this time the elevators were broken and we were on the top floor. Nine flights of stairs multiple times a day is not fun, especially with luggage. Thankfully they managed to get one elevator working but the other was out of service for our whole stay and it was very inconvenient. My other issue is the room not having cutlery or an ice cube tray, sometimes a small convenience can go a long way.

Perfect location just few bus stops away from city centre and 5 minutes from the Distillery District and 2 minutes from a small park. The area is very pretty and has restaurants and supermarkets nearby. The units are nice and clean and perfect for 2 people sharing. They have a full fitted kitchenette with a microwave, although crockery, cutlery and glasses have to be brought in by the guests. We stayed at The Residence and Conference Centre twice and would be happy to be back anytime. The staff was very helpful and professional and available 24h.

The price was great for a good location in downtown Toronto, we spent two nights and we had absolutely no issues. The space was clean, it smelled fresh and looked tidy, the bathroom was specifically clean which I was really impressed with. The space had a kitchenette with a fridge, microwave and counter space, as well as a small round kitchen table! The bathroom has a nice sized shower and included two bedroom both similar layout with a decent view of the city. We would definitely stay here again, it’s perfect if you’re on the go and looking for somewhere clean to rest your head!

There’s nothing I can think of that we didn’t like about this property! Just a heads up to make sure that you tap your key card on the door before you leave for the day (that locks the door, it doesn’t lock on its own after you close it like a hotel does) super easy, but a good tip to know!

Great location with easy access to the Distillery District and other nearby attractions. The price was very reasonable for the area. The air conditioning worked well, keeping the space comfortable during the summer. Service was courteous and overall, a pleasant stay.

There is a persistent strong odor on the first level, which can be quite unpleasant. The escalator operates very slowly, making it inconvenient at times. Additionally, there are occasional loud noises in the corridor, which can be disruptive.

Friendly staff, easy check in. Good size rooms. Clean rooms. The beds were comfy. Great towels. Easy access to Toronto centre by 504a tram or about 20 min walk on Front St E. Supermarket/coffee shop close by: Marche Leo’s and Dark Horse. Easy walking distance to the distillery district. As it’s a Student residence - there is a games room on floor 2 with table tennis and pool tables.

The only equipment in the kichenette is a large fridge/freezer and a microwave and four disposable plastic cups. We bought a pack of wooden cutlery cheaply at the supermarket and so could make a few basic meals (sandwiches etc). We bought all hot drinks at supermarket and coffee shop.

The hotel was perfectly placed within the city. A 2 minute walk from the Distillery District and a 20 minute streetcar ride from Downtown. The little apartments had 2 bedrooms a kitchenette with fridge freezer and dining table for 2. The shower room was perfectly sized. There are no utensils, which we knew about and catered for, however, if you don't read that in the small print, you will go expecting something entirely different. It is not your usual hotel. It is student accommodation during the school year. I thought it was great, a good idea for utilising an otherwise empty building during the summer months. The beds were small for two adults, and quite soft. It was not the best night's sleep we had, but it didn't put us off the location and we would stay there again. The staff were very helpful even walking with my husband at 11pm, on the night of arrival, to show him where to get food.
