The view on the Arenal lake and region from the Nepenthe B&B is absolutely wonderfull. We had a great time there. Breakfast is served close to the property. Personel of the restaurant is very friendly and helpfull. We had dinner as well and they provide enough choices for a family. Toucans were flying around the property. The swimming pool is nice and has the most beautiful view. Definitely a peaceful place to stay if you like to be a bit more remote from the more busy La Fortuna city. We would recommend it.

The only point is maybe the road to get there, the last 1,5km. Preferably a 4x4 or a higher car and some technical skills for driving offroad. But again, it is part of the adventure as well.

It is a stunning place, with a breathtaking view of the lake and volcano. The staff were super friendly and made us feel very welcome. Fabian is an absolute star, I highly recommend a massage with him, it was by far the best experience I have had. The restaurant team are also fabulous, thanks to Juan and the ladies for making delicious food and being very hospitable. We really didn't want to leave, it was a perfect end to our 10 day trip in Costa Rica.

The only thing I would suggest is having a small lamp in the bedroom. And unfortunately the hot tub was out of service during our stay. However the massage made up for it! :)

Our stay was amazing. All the staff was super helpful, especially Fabian. He answered all of our questions and made everything much easier for us. The cook, Lourdes is a wonderful person. She made sure we had the food we wanted and took good care of us. We felt so at home. It was peaceful and our view from the room was wonderful. I am not a pool person but the view from this pool was the best. The place was clean and had a fridge and stove and microwave. All came in handy. We had a parking space near our room so that made us feel comfortable. There is no AC but that was not a problem because the weather was nice and we had an extra fan taken to our room. I would visit this hotel a thousand times more. The price for what you get is great.

The only thing I did not enjoy was driving up and down the hill to get back and forth between the hotel and downtown area. But, this was because we did not have the appropriate car. Please get an SUV if you are renting a car. The road is rocky and rough for a low car.

Check-in was quick and easy. The breakfast at the Phoenix Restaurant was wonderful. We enjoyed speaking with Juan and Luisa. Other staff at the restaurant were also pleasant. We ate most evenings there. Reasonable prices and laid back atmosphere. Room was clean. Housecleaning daily just happened. No complaints.We had a wonderful massage too. We enjoyed Luna the cat!

We didn't use the pool due to the weather for several days, it didn't have any umbrellas for shade(we're very fair skinned 😔 and the rooms by the pool only had access to cover., and one day a large group was using it. That's vacation though and wouldn't be a reason not to come. The areas outside the spa had a broken hot tub and exercise bike. Would just suggest they be removed so looks nicer Would like it if there was a longer trail to walk in the area for times when we were just hanging out. Would have liked extra towels for the pool.

Breakfast was great! Lots of options to chose from and friendly service. I got a traditional costa rican breakfast (fried egg, rice, beans, plantains), my daughter got the traditional American breakfast (eggs, bacon and toast) and my son got pancakes and fruit. I love that they begin serving at 7AM so you can make it in time to the high adventure activities that await (most start at 9AM). The views are absolutely incredible and you feel so peaceful looking over the lake and volcano from such a high elevation. Its also great they have a lovely restaurant attached as this remote location would make leaving for dinner a bit cumbersome. We got to experience the great food in the downtown area of La Fortuna for lunch.

I was really bummed the hot tub wasn't working. I absolutely LOVE soaking after a long day in a hot tub, especially on vacation since we don't have our own. Its one of my biggest pet peeves when I stay in other places.

The staff, especially at reception, were extremely helpful in coordinating and booking activities. If done through reception, there was a discount. 5. Very responsive when communicating on WhatsApp 6. Loved the views from the pool. 7. Very peaceful!

The amazing location and incredible view of Lake Arenal. It is also very far away from the people an noise, perfect if you want to relax and also want to avoid crowded areas since not much people live up there. It is also possible to watch many different species of birds thanks to its location and it was also possible to take some astro photos from up there.

The pool could use some love, it was a shame not being able to use it because of how dirty it was. The road up to the location is also in REALLY bad condition, but I saw people with regular cars make the trip.

Probably one of the best places I stayed at ever. Pure luxury in paradise. The views are estonishing from everywhere, the accommodations well equipped and luxurious, the porches just fantastic, the pool wonderful, staff super helpful and the Phoenix restaurant on site just good with a very friendly staff. The location super, a bit away from the crowded areas, still next to super attractions such as the Arenal Vulcanic park and the butterfly reserve. The nearby cafe terrace, 200 m from the butterfly reserve, offers a fantastic view where you can spit more birds and monkeys as anywhere.

No complaints at all.

Location is amazing! Perfect to get away from busy (and kind of uggly) La Fortuna, while still being close to the Arenal Volcano park entrance. Rooms are not fancy but comfortable, and the views, garden and swimming pool more than make up for it. There is a restaurant (and even massage place) on site so you don’t always need to take your car in the evening for dinner if you don’t feel like it. Best to have at least SUV to get there.

The view was the biggest selling point of this property. The expansive view of Lake Arenal was fabulous. Also the spaciousness of our one bedroom space was great. An included breakfast was nice but it was nothing special.

The rocky, steep, bumpy, pot-holed road to get to the hotel was a huge downside. We are from Colorado and don’t mind a rough dirt road but this was beyond that. They recommend a four wheel drive and the reason for that is mostly the need for clearance. In a regular sedan you risk scraping the whole underside of your car. It was a drag having to go up and down that road multiple times a day. Also you’re quite far away from town and restaurants and various sights. If what you’re looking for is a hilltop secluded retreat then you’ll really like this place. But if you want a more convenient location you might be happier elsewhere.
