A lovely hotel with really comfortable beds and a lovely swimming pool and hot tub! The views are amazing and we found a tree with 5 toucans in it one day behind our room! Loved watching the hummingbirds everyday as well. Located only 10 mins from sky adventures (hanging bridges and zip lines) and 30 min drive from La Fortuna. For lunch/dinner go left at bottom of drive and find the local restaurant! Breakfast is great; option of eggs and ham (American), pancakes, or local (rice, black beans, egg) Watch the volcano to tell the weather! If you can't see the volcano, get your waterproofs on!

Well manicured and beautiful. Bryan was amazing! He went out of his way to hook us up with boxed breakfasts once he realized the rafting trip we booked with him left before breakfast hours. Very willing to help at every turn, showed genuine interest and very friendly.

The dark haired lady who worked the front desk made us feel like we were bothering her and seemed annoyed anytime we came to the desk, so we avoided going to the front desk on her shifts. She talked down to us when we asked questions, with a fake smile. Still rated 10 stars because everything else was so great. Thank you!! Puda Vida!!

Unbelievable views of the volcano and lake. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable with a good balcony but a fridge would have made a big difference. There were tea/coffee making facilities in the room. The pool was lovely and it was very special to sit in the hot tub watching the sunset over those spectacular views. The restaurant/bar was good although we only ate there once. El Castillo is a great village with good mini markets and restaurants. The most fantastic place we ate in was called Ventanita at the top of the hill, so quite a climb, but absolutely worth it. We also visited the butterfly conservation centre which was excellent and we also went hiking at the Arenal Observatory Lodge and saw lots of wildlife and spent half a day at Eco Termales hot springs which was fabulous (outstanding lunch!) You do need a car here.

Very cool view of both the Arenal lake and the volcano (on a sunny, clear day of course). I enjoyed the Costa rican style breakfast they provided in the morning.

If you want to do all the touristy things in la fortuna, just keep in mind that’s a 25 mins drive. If you want peace and quiet and the awesome lake view, this is your place. The room we stayed had some construction noises, but overall not to the point we want to change room. If noise is a problem, I would recommend when check in, mention to them to put you far away from the construction building.

The view of the lake with the birds dancing around was breathtaking. The pool and hot tub were also high on our list. Really friendly guest services. It was a memorable stay. Early check in so that our 3 year old could have a nap was so appreciated. Thank you, we will be back!

Very little to say: maybe that one employee that’s rips at full throttle on his dirt bike up the hilly area creates a slight auditive nuisance. The restaurant isn’t the greatest with food being very overpriced and the male service staff a little underwhelming.

The view !!!and the room quality for the most part. Staff was great and very helpful with setting up tours. Beds were very comfortable.

The plumbing in room 26 was poor. When the people upstairs use the water, massive air, venting issues occurred in our suite below. Also, both of the doors jammed against the tile floor when being opened and closed. This could easily be fixed. The kitchen food was good, but not exceptional.

We stayed for 3 nights / Quadruple. The lake/mountain view from the balcony and the bedroom was fabulous. We would be up at like 5:15-30 am and listen to the bird sounds from the balcony. Great landscape at the property with different trees which attracts these birds. Really wish we got a camera that could capture the fotos of so many birds. The restaurant food and staff were great. Staff is friendly. The setting of the property is very scenic with great views all around.

Nothing to not like.

The view is exceptional, the staff is very nice and the food in the restaraunt is very good. You can order tours to nearby locations and staff will help you managing that. The rooms are pretty basic, but comfortable and they have all one needs to have a relaxing holiday near nature. There is also a cool hiking trail through the jungle thdt circles back to the hotel and a swimming pool with an absolutely amazing view. Big thanks to Natalia and the rest of the crew for making our holiday so special!

You many want to have a car to travel around the area. The hotel is a bit remote from bigger settlements.

Well located and provide some new places to explore- Pueblo of el Castillo y Butterfly Observatory. Also a great massage from the lady that resort is connected with.

We wished the staff had taken our suggestion to fill up the bird feeder with fruit to attract more birds. And my partner really enjoys a rocking chair , other rooms had them and we requested one but did not have our request acted on.

The views and location overlooking Lake Arenal and the volcano too are stunning. Check in staff. Nice simple rooms. A/c. Good breakfast. Lots of coffee. Beautiful gardens and viewing areas and the swimming pool.

Nothing really. It rained the day we were there. Previous days on another part of Lake Arenal we had had lots of sunshine.
